I'd be honored if some 80s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal YT performances of SISTER CHRISTIAN by Night Ranger, IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake, and RADIO GA-GA by Queen in tribute to the age of legendary power ballads. Cyndi, when this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and in jail. Now I have a good job, a husband, and I’m healthy. This song and “Clover Cage - Miraculous” are the two songs that helped with my depression. I just want everyone to know that things will get better. We are in this together. I love you ❤😊

Yes. I used to work at an electronic repair shop in the late 80s. The stereo guy had a Cyndi Lauper CD as his "test CD," so I heard this song often.

This song will always remind me of my mother. I remember that I would stay up late at night hoping to catch this song on the radio to record it for weeks after hearing it in the movie theater. Then one day, getting us home from school, it was suddenly playing on my radio. I went running to my room to record it. When I got to the radio I saw there was a cassette tape playing inside. She bought the album for me as a surprise.
What a wonderful memory to have. Made me smile, thank you!

"Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper is not just a song; it's a timeless journey that transcends generations. Today, as we celebrate its 40th anniversary, it's hard not to be moved by the enduring charm and emotional depth of this masterpiece. For someone who grew up in the 1990s, this song was more than just a melody from the past; it was a bridge to an era of heartfelt music. Listening to Cyndi's soulful voice, it felt like she was speaking directly to us, sharing a story of love and resilience that resonated deeply. Her unique style and genuine emotion in every note made "Time After Time" a comforting friend and a source of inspiration. It's a reminder of the power of music to connect, to heal, and to bring joy across time. Thank you, Cyndi Lauper, for gifting the world with this beautiful anthem that continues to touch hearts, decades later. #TimeAfterTime40 #CyndiLauperLegacy 🌟🎶💖"

My best friend passed away in 2007, and her husband just passed last November. Both were way too young to depart the planet. I had been the maid of honor at their wedding back in 1986, and this had been their song. Whenever I hear it played (which is seldom), I feel as though they are both smiling down on me. Thanks, Cyndi!

I've seen this video numerous times over the past 40- some years, and I still love it. Especially the part where she's leaving the guy at the train station.
This was the first song my 2yr. Old starting singing.
Precious memories forever.
I believe the 80's just had so many truly romantic and heartbreaking songs- so much more than what came after in later decades.
Well, when you've already covered everything, logically, there wouldn't be a lot more to do. People actually pull from older songs a lot because those are the songs that inspired them, but you don't want to make a complete copy. Also, there's a generational element involved. Being stuck in your time will not allow you to enjoy what comes later, as much.
TheUltimateKIC that made very little sense 🤦🏻♂️
@@StMichael7 Well, then, I don't know what to tell you, pal. Because I just reread it without any issues.
TheUltimateKIC nah I understand what you said and I agree with that completely, my dad struggles to get out of this fact that times are different to when he was a child. Luckily I’m not fond of today’s music and so I get the pleasure of these actual good and well done songs instead of the stuff in the charts today 😩😬

This song was always so incongruous because on one hand you have this new wave punk rocker with red hair and half her scalp shaved.
On the other side, you had these deeply thoughtful lyrics filled with youthful bravado and angst laden harmonies.

My brother, who was also my best friend, and I, used to camp all the time when Time After Time came out on the radio in 1983. We were in our early twenties. He died on Christmas Day 2 years ago,and this song is like a time portal. I close my eyes and see the flashes of color in the changing mountain trees, snowy peaks, the rush of sparkling melt water rushing down in rivulets. I know he will be waiting for me.
You just made me think. I’d like dying on 4th of January or something, when the Christmas is clearly over. Happy & fulfilled by the greetings of the season

This song has so much meaning for me. I remember so clearly listening to it on my Walkman, soon after it came out, after going to visit the site where our new house was being built. It was the fall of 1984 and I was only 8 years old, but it had been one of the most eventful years of my life. My grandmother had died, my little sister was born, I moved to a new school, and we were about to move into a new house. Even at that very young age, I was feeling nostalgic and wistful, thinking about how much things were changing in my life. Now at 46 years old, every time I hear this song I feel like time loops back on itself and I can reach out and touch that little girl.
@elizabethwall8063 : If you have not already listened, check out the version by the late, Eva Cassidy. She puts in something extra from the heart, the lyrics are enriched tugging on our memories from deep within.

This type of music always makes me feel like crying, its amazing how talented and passionate these artist were in their music. I wish I was born in the 70s or the 80s just so I could of fully admired this music. its a shame that as the generations go on this music will eventually just die out... its sad if you think about it.
I agree especially Jazz genre there's a lot of jazz music in 80s
Michelle Jonathan thats why its our job to blast their music in our cars when were driving ahah. even if you get weird faces
+cjsaintrow You'd have had to be born in the 40's or 50's to really appreciate the impact because you then may have made it to Montery for the pop festival, the first great rock festival, during the "Summer of Love". The next stop on the bus was Woodstock in upstate N.Y. which was a once in a lifetime event. I got free tickets but didn't have the $68 round trip air fare from Chicago. What a boner that was. Anyway being 20 or so at the start of the 70's was a rockin roaring ride that has had no equal before or since. I saw the Stones 3 times when they were good, Zeppelin 9 times, The who, Queen, and got paid to do it shooting photos of 12 years of the worlds best bands. What a great ride it was.

Unfortunately, some time in the 90's some wanna be hip hop singer decided to sing this song to a diso beat. It went over like a wet fart in an elevator, much like what Nicki French did to Total Eclipse of The Heart (came out around the same time).

This song was released in 1983. I was born in 1999. I am currently 23 and I am still jamming to this. I find these songs thankfully to my parents. If you're from the next generation, please don't let this song and many other old ones die out.
I was born in 1940 . Its a fabulous piece of music for my generation too..!
a classic always lives through times!
the 80s were a magnificent time to be alive, although not all of it was, the music and whole lifestyle seems so beautiful!
Yo I was also born in 1999 and I know this song
Born in '62...I vividly remember this & other songs from this album (She's So Unusual), hearing them on the radio in the summer of '84, when after graduated college I made the Big Move away from home to start my career (retired in 2018), so these (& many other) songs bring back great memories. 😎
Still one of the best songs ever recorded. Still listening to it in May 2024 all the way from south africa
It’s crazy to think this song is 40 years old 😢 So many memories….thank you Cyndi ❤
I feel a bit older now. Sheesh thanks. 😂😂
“You know, out of all my brother’s friends, you’re my favorite. You’ve always been my favorite.” 😭
OhtheSuffering Awww dustin!💞💞
They don't make magic like this anymore...so freaking happy I lived the 80s .
You got that right
You are so right
So am I...
They make better music now 😂😂😂 Billy goat eyelash is doing higher numbers for gen z
Amen.
Danced with my father on my wedding day 17 years ago to this song now sing it to him every time we are together as he has early dementia 😢
I miss these times. I LOVE YOU CINDY! ❤️
Thank you Nancy. You made Dustin’s night.
Colin MacKinnon YESS😭❤️
Purrrrrrrr
Crazy I came across this song, my name is Dustin and I seen your post..!! Lol...! 2-shay...!!!
I'm criying
Yes, but Steve's night too :(
80s songs stand the test of time. Cyndi's music has transcended all time.
They really do. I can’t imagine kids now getting nostalgia in forty years from what they’re forced to listen too. 80s songs take you to a distinct place, even an individual, that girl you liked at school or that afternoon at your grans
que me decis de mozart tonce
@@reddan73 so true. cant see anyone in 40 years saying "this is proper music" when listening to justin beiber or or whoever else in is the charts right now
@@reddan73 100% true. Spot on.
There's also a bit of selection bias. When you say the 80s music holds up, you're not thinking of all the forgettable songs you've forgotten.
I was born in 1990 but I sure do love the 80’s and the music 😊😊😊😊
Beautiful song, it has become one of my favorites ❤️
I love this song , I'm listening here lying in my bed , at 03:50 am, during Quarentine , time after time , here on Brazil 🇧🇷♥️✨

What happened to your past mom
Very nice it's emotional it brings good memories
My mom ditched out on me when I was two. I used to listen to this and pretend it was my mom singing it to me. I grew up and got to know better. Now I sing it to my daughters so they'll never have to pretend.
La música de finales de los 80 / 90 fue la mejor, lejos, en todas las
corrientes!
