    Hey Dr. Dray,
    Woman to Woman:
    Something different... would you consider doing a video about how to properly wash and moisturize the feminine intimate area? I’d be interested to hear about how to deal with dry skin ‘down there.’
    Thanks! 🙏🏻

    Hey, I would be curious to know if you could do a video on how you go about finding your studies that you mention in your videos. I think a huge problem in the medical community for NON-medical professionals is inaccrate information and people not know HOW to find the proper research (ie. credible sources, peer reviews, stats that are statistically significant, etc…). Could you maybe talk about how you (AS A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL) would give advice to the general public on where information is found and the importance of having a credible source and statistically significant results to back up any claim you make.
    I am a Nurse in Canada and am always amused by the information people think they know and find it difficult to get people to understand the importance of credible research.
    Thank you for all the advice and valuable information all your videos provide. :D

    • @shawnsg
      @shawnsg 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The problem is people are lazy and don't want to do anything but read the first thing they find on Google.

    • @Roll587
      @Roll587 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I'm not a medical professional, but I am a researcher. Even if full articles aren't available, abstracts you find on Google scholar can be useful!

    • @laurenj6974
      @laurenj6974 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It’s not that simple. Many studies are behind a firewall, so only accessible if you have a subscription on your own or through your university or hospital.
      The general public can’t read a study any understand what it means.
      Furthermore, nothing is determined to be factual by a single peer reviewed study. Findings become accepted over time once they are validated by replication.
      As far as being “statistically significant”, just stop right there, because as the great Mark Twain once said, “There are lies, damn lies and statistics.” Even honest researchers pick and choose statistical models that work for them.
      The best advice is to take everything you hear with a grain of salt.

    • @Asptuber
      @Asptuber 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This could make a good video.
      But my suspicion is that it is HARD for the layman to evaluate (proper) sources, once you find them.
      That said, for things that aren't very obscure, Wikipedia (see below!) can be a good starting point. Then Google Scholar and plain PubMed, once you have *an idea what you are looking for*. This last bit will be the most difficult for the layperson, conditions change names, something talking about something adjacent might be very relevant but you might miss it because you don't know about it etc
      And then you get into paying attention to the age of whatever you find, if it has been cited (and how often, and for what), and of course the problem of is this a)statistically significant, and b) significant for MY query.
      About Wikipedia: articles that have many editors and/or an active discussion page are better/more trustworthy or useful, than pages written by one or two editors with not much discussion. If you read several languages it is also very useful to check out parallell pages.

    Hi Dr. Dray! I recently discovered your channel and it changed my life, and that's not an exaggeration. There's been a boom in CBD containing serums and oils recently, saying CBD anti-wrinkle, anti-acne, anti-everything basically. Would you do a video on your thoughts on CBD infused facial products?

    • @wearelegion1163
      @wearelegion1163 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Rocio Chi As someone who loves CBD and uses it daily, I don’t buy into its use in skincare. There’s not enough active CBD in any of these skincare products to have any of CBD’s benefits. Hemp oil is different. It’s NOT CBD oil.

    • @MERALACXBACKINGPAN
      @MERALACXBACKINGPAN 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree ☝️! There’s no way applying CBD to the skin or even eating the gummies, etc. will do anything for you. It’s a waste of money, just a gimmick for companies to make money 💴 off the trend. It’s best to just take the drops under the tongue 👅 hold for at least 60-120 seconds or more so that the receptors in the front of your mouth have time to absorb. Xoxoxo

    For those of you who are trying to do healthy skin-care on a very tight budget:
    I actually found a Walmart brand (Equate) of the Neutrogena Oil-Free Face Moisturizer that literally has the exact same ingredients (with the exception of Diazolidinyl Urea, Ethylparaben, Methylparaben, & Propylparaben being in the Neutrogena brand and Chlorphenesin being in the Walmart brand).
    I've noticed that the Equate brand as done wonders of keeping my skin hydrated for only HALF the price and people have noticed as well! Dr. Dray, are these ingredients listed above not the greatest? Forgive me, I'm still learning!

      Why not try a mild salt or sugar scrub?
      I actually buy the cheapest facial scrubs (yeah, fragrance nastyness and all) I can find for use on my body where it tends to build up dead skin (maybe once a week or so). Otherwise I only use a low pH fragrance free body/intimate wash (sulphates yes, but very mild, use it as a shampoo as well). If I was very fragrance sensitive I would probably swap out the cheapo scrub creams for slightly crystalline honey - honey is a very good mechanical exfoliator.

    • @Asptuber
      @Asptuber 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@sable7114 Nah. Mild lathering things (like most bodywashes) don't really touch dead skin cells. You get out of the shower and your skin flakes off on the towel in a nasty, gross way and you feel like you have to shower again...

    There's a Japanese brand called Diane I wish you can review. They're majority a shampoo brand which I enjoy using because its natural and ever since using their shampoo my hair is a lot more soft and silky. I could even go more than a week without washing my hair cause it wouldn't feel itchy or greasy at all. I saw that they also have a body wash(body soap) with milk in it. I read Japanese reviews [translated from google] and one of them said it helped with eczema. I can't find any good English reviews on Diane at all. I really hope you can review it as well please and thank you. >.

    • @Hyukfied
      @Hyukfied 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @lavirac cm Yes it does so I guess its not 100% natural. Although having fragrance really depends. I use to react terribly to fragrance in body washes. However, I think it depends on what other ingredients that are in it. I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I used a Chinese herbal body wash, it had very few ingredients in it including fragrance and yet my skin did not react to it. As for this Diane body wash, I haven't tried it yet but judging from google translated Japanese reviews, one of them said it helped her daughter's eczema. This is why I need English reviews but no one know about this Japanese brand. I really love their shampoos, it helped with my hair loss, and it made my hair feel amazing. :]

    Funny you mentioned the Neutrogena oil-free moisturizer for sensitive skin - I've recently developed quite the stinging sensation to niacinamide after using the Ordinary niacinamide + zinc serum, so I decided to try the neutrogena this morning when I decided to cut niacinamide out of my routine until I stop reacting (at least I hope it stops eventually).

    • @Asptuber
      @Asptuber 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How interesting! When I first got my TO niacinamide I found that it stung quite a bit (especially around the nose), so I used it very sparingly, maybe 2/week and only minuscule amounts. But lately I've noticed I don't feel the stinging at all anymore.
      I wonder if the stinging or not is related to de-hydrated skin? Because what has changed for me since when it stung is that I've started tretinoin (and winter has come), and because of that I've been paying a lot more attention to hydration. I almost bathe my skin in TO Matrixyl or Hyaluronic serums at least once a day, and am much more diligent about a cream or oil (or both) on top of that. Also started using my humidifier regularly...
      So if it's winter where you are, dehydration be something to consider.

      I don't know about dramatic improvements - that's hard to tell because I've started paying attention to my skin in general.
      On my neck, since I don't much else (besides moisturiser) there, I'd say the improvement in how rough the skin feels has been pretty dramatic, lots of uneven small patches that used to bother me are now smooth to the touch.
      And it is very very nice in how it feels on the skin. And to me it seems easier to layer than TO's plain HA+b5 or Buffet - no pilling ever even with plain oil directly over it.
      I only wish they had it in bigger bottles. This is one TO product I can see using for years and years.

      On new scars/wounds/incisions, use a fragrance free ointment to keep it moist at all times; don’t let it dry out. Once the wound is closed, stitches removed, you can try using silicone gel or silicone sheet products, but always check with your doctor first. 👏 😊 🩹 👩‍⚕️

      She says she has a video on acne scars but I know what you mean cuz I have a scar that I tried cocoa butter on. That may be something that'll have to be lasered later. However it is that they remove keloids , oh I guess they just cut those off I don't know but I'm sure there's a way to get rid of a scar! :-)

    • @jt8142
      @jt8142 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Silicone gel or silicone sheet products work well (backed by evidence/data) for scar therapy; much much better than using vitamin E, Bio-Oil, or cocoa butter. If after trying silicone-based products consistently, for months, with minimal success, you may want to consult with a cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon about scar treatments using lasers, IPL, et al. I’ve also read that tretinoin gives similar results to silicone gel at minimizing hypertrophic scars.
      For keloids, doctors may try steroid injections to try to flatten them out if silicone sheeting or taping is not effective.
      For new wounds, do not let them dry out; instead, you should keep them moist with a fragrance free ointment.

    The Neutrogena Hydro Boost for "extra dry skin"? I bought it, am half-way through the jar now and I have to say, I think people with normal skin can use this just fine and as a standalone moisturizer. Extra dry? I don't think so. I am extra dry and it's just not enough, I have to layer my Nivea blue tin on top of it to seal and then it's fine. I would repurchase, if my Lidl store hadn't put a dupe out. ;)

      @@kediavedu right and we don't know exactly how long she and her mom have been out and about before ending up at Whole Foods so it's probably time to reapply.
