These videos are great learning tools. I'm learning alot. Around this stuff a lot daily but not sure how to use them. Interesting seeing the flange, closet bolts, pvc pipe and street ells in action.
This is one of my favorite videos Steve. You took the time and went the extra mile to do the job, CORRECTLY. I would have done the same thing, replaced that whole section of PVC pipe. You can tell by looking at it, before you replaced it, it was pulling to the left, crooked. It didn't look straight, until you replaced everything. The job looks good!
That was what I wanted to learn. And you show me with that flange and that elbow for that toilet. You dry fit it first mark it where you was going to clue and install. Great idea. Master Steven. Thanks
Nice flange replacement! Just did one myself the other day, on slab. Luckily it was a 4x3 flange so I could just cut it and knock it out of the pipe. I also use the SetFast bolts now since I seen you using them. They are nice.
Spread some of that old wax on some bread and call it peanut butter. Only thing missing is A little raspberry jam... Yummm!... Steve, love your videos, and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Thanks!
justin henning its working well now .the flange had a bad cut in it from a sawzall, someone installing the floor must of cut into it .that part did not record to bad
i love swedish plumbing. not as messy as this! just a pipe that sticks up out of the floor, and its a pipe on the toilet that goes down in the pipe from the floor. very simple
speilberg & jj abrams! great job shooting this vid guy! serious edited to leave out the downtime nonsense! no long winded narratives! just straight business! and thorough correct troubleshooting! the ONLY WAY to improve anything on this vid partner is for the mexicans out there thro some captionings there across the bottom so they know whatchur saying and boom! perfect video! good job brother!
Steven, I really appreciate this thorough demo. From start to finish. I pretty much have the same issue, and wasn't quite sure which end to tackle first and just how to secure the pipes at first. Thanks for saving me a couple hundred bucks and having to wait a week for a plumber.
Nice job. Always nice to burn a 60 out of stock when it comes in handy. Ive got a few ive been carrying around for years.....But sometimes like this job they save you some space and thats why I keep um handy.
They use a much different looking escutcheon plate than what’s used in California. Theirs is shaped more like a funnel and ours are pretty much flat. I like the way theirs looks better
So referring back to the foam ring question, the black ones I've used I've had the same issue of them not collapsing and had to cut them down in order for a proper fit but the newer green ones seem to be softer and the toilet has no problem sitting on the tile well for me... have you tried those at all? They are a hell of a lot nicer when you go back to up-date the bathroom in a few years! I've only had one such case so far to replace a Koehler with a touch less because they are so new but it was very nice not having to dig out the old wax.
That looks like a first rate job to me Steve. The last plumbers look like they didn't take pride in their work. You cleaned it up nice. Damn inspectors here in NJ demand purple primer. I like the clear myself, makes the job look neater in places the pipes are seen. Thanks for sharing. - Jack Still don't understand why you wear gloves??? :-)
Fireship1 i never got the purple primer thing they do that so they can see if primer is used,,,,,the clear is what is called for on the white pvc,and your right looks 1,000 times better
Excellent videos Steven, can you discuss that connection between the pvc and the cast iron and methods of making those connections for those needing to tie into old cast iron?
Chris Bramell i will not buy them they do not collaps enough on every install so the toilet is not on the floor and can rock ,dumb ass idea .just use a regular wax no horn ,and you can not go wrong .with that
im having problems with my toilet it wont flush back to back but after like all day of no flushing it will flush but when i just put water in it will flush but if i keep addin water it just fills up the bowl i got it snaked out and with auger and plunger i just dont knkw wat to do buy a new toilet
+steven lavimoniere Thanks---TH-cam does not show me replies it seems. This video came up as a repeat. I thought, wow, Steve better get some more videos out here soon!!! Pretty soon some talent scout is going to find you because your videos are the best I have ever seen on TH-cam for repair work. You put a lot of effort into them.
John Mahoney A reciprocating saw is a type of saw in which the cutting action is achieved through a push and pull reciprocating motion of the blade. This type of saw, also known as a recipro saw, sabre saw, or Sawzall.
Your videos are very good. Clear, well shot and easy to follow.
John Mahoney thanks for the comment
One of the best DIY tutorial! Thank you Steve.

needmorediesel set fast bolts are the way to go there fast no cutting the closet bolt ,
Spread some of that old wax on some bread and call it peanut butter. Only thing missing is A little raspberry jam... Yummm!... Steve, love your videos, and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Thanks!
Now that's how it's done , that was a mess Steve but u did a good job on the repair .
justin henning its working well now .the flange had a bad cut in it from a sawzall, someone installing the floor must of cut into it .that part did not record to bad
That's a nice fix Steve. The other plumber didn't really care about being neat with all that primer all over the place..
Emin HVAC it was nasty for sure
Great job Steve, your pipe and flange install looks a lot better than the last guys.
teh60 this job was a mess for sure
Very thorough work, Steve. You make it look easy!
I love watching your plumbing videos more than HVAC ones Excellent plumber
Outstanding job Steve as always
Harry Dickson thanks harry

And people complain about the cost for plumbing services!!
Them flange screws came out so easy....if they were all like that life would be great
those flange bolts are pretty slick there boss. i like em
Nobody:
Literally not a single soul:
This guy: why do you wear gloves
Anthony Hall lol
Tight fit nice job! that was some messy primer joints on the old stuff looks like a homeowner special!!!
Picasso ThePlumber! it was a mess for sure ..lol
U make it look so dam easy. U a professional.
Hey Steve, why do you wear gloves!? What are you, a flippin DOCTOR?? 😂
@Ognjen Mali theres worse things you can get .. like sarcasm
Nice video Steven, I enjoyed watching.
Richard Fossani i am glad you liked it
Great job Steve, Mike D.
Mike Dupree it was a little work but not so bad
Nice job. Always nice to burn a 60 out of stock when it comes in handy. Ive got a few ive been carrying around for years.....But sometimes like this job they save you some space and thats why I keep um handy.
Ryan Dugger yes 60 degree can help in a tight spot .i only use them in needed because there more cash
Great job Steve.
Jonathan Smith i came out well for the most part
Great job and video like always ( Steven )
There were a lot of other things going on in the background in the basement. What caught my eye was the laundry shutoff with no hose on the cold side.
Dwight Bennett i was there to fix the toilet only ..
I like the old S trap on that pipe in the background...lol
Great job Steve!
***** thanks for watching larry
They use a much different looking escutcheon plate than what’s used in California. Theirs is shaped more like a funnel and ours are pretty much flat. I like the way theirs looks better
Im a swedish plumber and i gotta say, u guys are sooooooo far back in the plumbing development.
great video......great job......i learned a little
Nicely done my friend 👍
Another well done video
Dunn Plumbing llc thanks dunn
This was exactly what I needed, thank yiu!
Use the slots on the flange, you don’t have to worry about the flange cracking. Stronger hold for the toilet.
Another fine job.
Now I see why Steve doesn’t like the wax rings with the plastic horn
If I were in a situation like that, I would spray flex seal all over the pipe, and replace the wax.
Boston strong! I just watched that movie Patriots day.
Steve you should save all your used wax rings. Dont start making scented candles 😁🚽

another happy customer, nice work. All that original primer gotta be from a handy man or home owner ,looked like shit
Bernard Sobbe i agree looked like shit
Nice job.
The original Flange is level with the floor that's a big no no. Going through it right now where I have a rotted sub floor cause of it.
wow, nice job!
hllywd964 thanks for watching
i hate wax rings...it does the job...but damn its messy
+HospitalmanMikey thats why i wear gloves
Great tutorial. Don't u ever clean up? Should've vacuumed all that debris before inserting new flange
toilet drain pipe problems
you killed my toilet that's my wife.
steven lavimoniere
Good job mister gloves.
How much did you charge??
Bad as s work....good. worker...Thx for your post
do you heat the wax first?
Have you seen the foam "wax" rings? Like $12 just curious if you have any experience or opinion....wouldn't have to wear gloves!
Chris Bramell i will not buy them they do not collaps enough on every install so the toilet is not on the floor and can rock ,dumb ass idea .just use a regular wax no horn ,and you can not go wrong .with that
Floor contractor may have been no plumber, but the cut in that tile....
Great youtube channel :)
Pro job done!!
Steve do you ever get used to the smell?
I love your videos. .....why do you wear gloves?...LOL
Why the first closet ring? why not just dump water down the pipe to test?
Good repair. That *_turd hole_* is ready for duty, Steven.
How do you recommend joining the pvc to cast iron? How did they do it in this case?
Cooll Asice the pvc was connected to the cast iron hub bye a pvc man off lead and ockum jount
Did you cut the street end on that 90?
what are those two can you are using are they both the same thing?
+Nando P pvc glue and cleaner
Nice job
What's the deal with the PVC to cast iron joint? Is that lead and okem? Nice repair Steven.
Brad1237202 its called a manoff ,its designed to go from cast iron to pvc yes lead @ ockum joint
Brian Crandall Thanks Brian. I figured PVC and hot lead would never mix.
❤why you use gloves?
I see what you did there steve..... i caught that... trim down the street part of the 90 huh?
Hello Steven.
For PVC: Do you use flanges that get glued inside 4" pipe or do you do only outside the pipe flanges?
Thanks.
AffordablePlumbing they make both
A plumbing god!
where's the primer??
Eric Fisher it clear
Wax rings with funnels are not good
hey steve u had to cut a lil off that st 90 huh
Great Job Steve,,,why do you wear gloves!!!!!
drummerdem50 to keep my hands clean ,some nasty stuff there
where do you find them bolts I looked for them and cant find them?
Rodney Thornhill there all over the places in every plumbing supply house up my way
Why don't you ever chalk around the toilet base when you put it in
Hey Steve, Why do you wear gloves? LMAO
I see you don't use wax rings with horns, I see where the problem is with them.
That looks like a leak behind the wall near the shower and angle stop
Why you wearing Glove ?
kano R keeps the shit off my hands
steven lavimoniere 😂😂😂😂 bb great answer Steve...
im having problems with my toilet it wont flush back to back but after like all day of no flushing it will flush but when i just put water in it will flush but if i keep addin water it just fills up the bowl i got it snaked out and with auger and plunger i just dont knkw wat to do buy a new toilet
how much would a job like that cost to do?
Probably around $300 - $400
nice and neat
European plumbing system is much simpler than North American plumbing I feel sorry for the plumbers over there
are you still throwing buckets out in the street? hehe jk
Do Europeans leak Diarrhea all the time? no wonder there is no pipe blockage
I hear you guys have open air water closets
We've heard about that -- one looks for the nearest bush to do your business.
great job steve why you wearing glove ha ha its a joke !!!!
+Bernie Gentile thanks man
why do you wear gloves? Thanks for the videos! Great do's and don'ts!
What really is the benefits of a funnel wax ring ?????
What I cant understand is way you dont use plaster to set tne toilet here in new york we allways put plaster under the toilet
never heard of that. putting anything that sucks in water/moisture is going to get moldy and stinky
I don't get it why do you wear gloves??
I love your vids. I have watched dozens of em. Enough with the glove lecture. We get it it’s a filthy job you need gloves.
Haven't seen no one better saying theres not i just Haven't
thumbs up!
Jason the Plumber thanks jason this one looked like hell and leaked ever worse lol
Why do you wear gloves?
Omg, that primer drip all the way down the pipes! "Well it wont leak" so !? It looks like crap. Guys , dont be that previous plumber.
Weird, Looks like someone leaded a PVC joint into the cast iron 0:50 ? Does not look right? Crappy work replaced by quality repair!
+DOLRED its called a manoff leaded in ,so you can run pvc from there ,very common transition
+steven lavimoniere Thanks---TH-cam does not show me replies it seems. This video came up as a repeat. I thought, wow, Steve better get some more videos out here soon!!! You cut with a saws-all. Was that a joke?
John Mahoney no joke on this channel
John Mahoney A reciprocating saw is a type of saw in which the cutting action is achieved through a push and pull reciprocating motion of the blade. This type of saw, also known as a recipro saw, sabre saw, or Sawzall.
A hinder bucks for anybody that’ll chew on that old wax ring!!
