    It's great how you go the extra mile and clean while you work. A lot of plumbers would just plop the new toilet on top of the old dirt and call it good. I also love those easy to remove seats. It makes cleaning so much easier.

    • @raw6127
      @raw6127 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes but notice he put the dirty paper towels the toilet drain or whatever you want to call it and didn't even bother to remove them before putting the new toilet in place

    My parents added a second floor in-law apartment to their home some years ago and the plumber installed a steel toilet flange. It lasted maybe ten years before rotting away. I used a hobby motor tool to carve away the PVC part of the flange and installed a PVC flange.
    The motor tool works great too on those brass bolts that secure the toilet tank.

    Liked all the install except the tank bolts that were not double nutted (one on the under side of the tank, and the one on the under side of the base to secure) cant tell you how many times i get tank to bowl leaks because the seal inside the tank has rotted. they make seals for the underside of the tank that you nut as well... it makes removing the tank and keeping it water tight possible.

    Damaged flanges are a pain in the ass to deal with. I’ve replaced a few & use the Danco Hydroseat flange replacement , which is easy to install & makes sure the toilet stays solid on the floor and doesn’t leak. I don’t know what your thoughts are on this product, but it always seems to work well for me. Like you, I always clean up after I finish a job.

    Nice pastel blue toilet. I worked on a house once that had a pastel blue in one bath and a pastel yellow in another. This is the first time I’ve seen one of those since then. I don’t know why they make the key ways so small. Personally I like a little more margin for error

  • @jerrymontalbano3222
    @jerrymontalbano3222 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wouldn't it have been nice not to use your gloved hands to handle the waste around the broken flange/wax ring with a plastic/metal scraper and clean the area before starting the repair. And then, change your gloves if you decide to pick up the trash using the gloves? There's a bit of nasty transferring the mess to the toilet, seat/cover and parts like the flush handle. I suppose I work a bit different. 8-) >...Lastly, the "slow-close" seat is not as great as it looks. It does not account for one who has to lift the seat and cover to pi$$ standing. It's ok just to close the cover for guests, but otherwise, the top or BOTH pieces would have to be raised up before/after the pi$$ just to avoid slamming.

      steven lavimoniere completely agree with u , I will say over 50 % of toilets I lift that have a metal flange are damaged. The only down fall with using plastic is guys that over tighten and break them .
