  • I install the StopTech Trophys on the BMW, ST60 in the front and ST22 in the rear. I went with the 2 piston setup in the rear in order to better fit the OEM wheels, the style 65s. You can run the ST40s, but it takes aftermarket wheels or a big wheel spacer.
    Everyone hates on BBKs as a mod thats not needed, even track day folk, but this is honestly my favorite mod I have done to the car. 100% would do again.

    😮I have searched for big brake kit on TH-cam and a year later you finally show up. No one ever says if it stops better after the expensive mod.

      You’ll have to expand on your stops better question. Street use? No, it won’t stop much better. Track use, slightly better. All day track abuse, moderately better.
      This kit is great for easy pad changes and brake feel.
      Id put the e63 master cylinder above the BBK anyway though as far as a better mod per dollar.

    Nice Upgrade!! Here in German a lot of guys use the Brembo 6 piston calipers from the w205 C63 AMG with the M5 e60 Rotors

    What rotors are those. When I look at their kits the slotted rotors look much different more like the ones you replaced.

    • @worthygarage
      @worthygarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont know. Ive never found out what they are. I just assumed they were some new slotted rotor they gave me, and where upgrading too. So, I never asked. But i still havent seen them yet online as an offering or any communication that this is their new slotted design.

    Did all the calipers fit with the original style 65 rims or are they to big. That’s the only concern I have since I want to keep the original rims on.

    • @anewto
      @anewto ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they fit. The fitment issues are with the rear calipers only. ST22 is only stoptech offering that fits Style 65s, which is why I went with them. If you go with the ST40s you have to run a large spacer to fit.

    Have you encountered any excessive pad knock back? I’ve got the ST60’s on my e92 m3 and have to tap the pedal before entering the brake zone after certain twisty sections or after hitting kerbing

    • @worthygarage
      @worthygarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not. This car is no track car though. I only do 2 or so events per year. How heavily are you using your st60s? Ive seen the springs and oneway valves race teams add to help with knock back.

    We did a Brembro brake upgrade on all four corners on our E39 M5
    Did not do a master cylinder upgrade to date
    We need to bleed the brake system and have a pressure system and OBD system to activate the ABS pump
    Do we need to be concerned about bleeding the DSC ? Something I knew nothing about it’s existence. Or is the DSC inline w the master cylinder and w bleed out w a brake system flush
    Thank you

    • @worthygarage
      @worthygarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't mess with the DSC pump/compressor. Its been so long that I cant remember the mechanical details of the system so I don't want to speculate.. I followed the instructions within ISTA to pressurize, cycle abs solenoids, bleed each corner and everything has worked perfectly.

    These won’t fit the OE 18” wheels, would they?

    • @worthygarage
      @worthygarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      They will. St60s are fine upfront and st22 fit the style 65s just fine. It’s the st40s in the rear that are the issue. But the 40s will fit with a big spacer, fender roll.

    @12:20 request yes please. I need the INSTA Tool. I see some online but not too sure which route to go. What do you recommend?

    • @worthygarage
      @worthygarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, quite honestly I cheated. I bought this computer with everything pre installed. I had go through two different windows XP machines where I installed the software and could only get a few basic tools going and my INPA was in german...I could never get Ista/d working on my own. A lot of it was due to how old, used, "shitty" the computers I had.
      Anyways, I got the computer from a guy on facebook groups. "E39 Parts For Sale USA" Of course I cant find his contact info. But that is the easiest path. Spend $300 on a built up machine dedicated to your BMW.

      @@vosedon Its ISTA. I use a lot of them. Depends on what you want to do. BMW 1.4 scanner for reading codes, DIS for manuals and procedures, ISTA for the ABS Cycle. ISTA can do a lot more, I just havent done it yet.

      BMW flash and a hex editor to edit DME, code out rear O2s, and SAP, SAI code out.
