A guy carrys a bow up the mountain and sticks a wolf. A guy runs over a wolf at 80 mph. It dosent matter it's the same outcome. An elk continues to live regardless
One seems objectively cruel and it’s obviously unsportsmanlike. You don’t think about that when one guy spotlights a deer at night and one shoots one with a bow during legal shooting time, even though it is the same outcome
"We have officials that FOLLOW THE SCIENCE." Right, let's just ignore the last 3-4 years of science following by government officials. What could go wrong???
The scientists that regulate the hunting industry are incentivized by hunters. the purchase of hunting licenses are what pays for and funds their research. Unlike the pharmaceutical industry, the hunting regulatory agencies are not driven based off corporate greed, but rather the pursuit of strengthening wildlife habitat, which in turn helps hunter success rates and increases the future purchases of licenses. The more license purchases, the more funding for these regulatory agencies. That’s how a functioning government agency should work.
@@Michael-z7b5s To continue with your metaphor: There are a lot of perfect doctors too, but the fact is the information/science they are being fed isn't accurate. I'm not against Conservation and government's involvement, but the idea that their science is infallible, or even in good faith a majority of the time is laughable. There's a lot right with it, but there's so much changing in what we know about agriculture, sustainability, and the inner-mingling of ag and wildlife that especially the government, and those in charge from top to bottom of these agencies screw up from merely suffering the human condition...which especially science in any industry these days are not immune to. IF people in society can screw it up, then so can those human scientists, through greed, bias, laziness, etc. I will admit the fact that funding being driven by the hunting industry to support the conservation of wildlife, land and hunting is a powerful thing. But that too gets twisted by those against hunting because they're in charge, or at least involved at many levels everywhere. And, we must NOT offend this noisy minority at any cost. My point, let's keep the faith, but not over trust these agencies by handing them more and more power. We need to own it to a greater extent, even if we somehow believe they are handling it perfectly. I'll admit to the Hunting/Conservation is good, but certainly not great. And, only a downgrade to make the move of pretending MORE legislation is the clear fix.
Society is changing. A lot. As much as we love hunting and our lifestyle, if we have two neurons, we have to acknowledge that it is over, and we have to move on. They won, we lost. Its over. Move on.
I dont have the energy to watch this. Just wanted to call out the viewers and commenters for being so shallow and prioritizing your recreation over conserving wildlife and reintroducing predators to their native range. 6% of the population hunt (significantly less hunt big game). And though over 95% of hunters eat their kills, only between 16-35% hunt for the sole purpose of procuring meat (in the U.S., according to conflicting sources). So, why should we allow such a minority of the population's want for recreation over reintroducing keystone species? Sure, hunting provides funding for conservation efforts, but to think that there isnt enough tax money for conservation efforts without funding from the P-R act, Duck stamp act, etc. is honestly just silly. It shouldnt even be a discussion. As a biologist, I'm ashamed that these people encourage finding a middle ground. We've tolerated selfish, ignorant, and entitled "sportsmen" for way too long. Truly can wait for the Good Ol' Boy, anthropocentric mentality of "everything exists for our use and pleasure" to die out. I wont even entertain responding to any comments unless it's clear you've at least read Richard Mackie's "History of Management of Large Mammals in North America".
You don't have the energy but are willing to ignorantly determine what the shows about? You call yourself a scientist but ignore key information being printed and just pull a summary out of thin air? Not very scientific of you. They don't talk about reintroduction or bring up being against it at all. They spend a great deal of time discussing the importance of predators on the landscape. This episode focuses on the ballot box biology happening in Colorado, which is ignoring biologists in the state. Stop being so ignorant.

Its over. Move on.
Someone is really gonna have to do welfare checks on Steven when Trump loses and goes to prison lol
You’re just shit-posting this same thing on several of the Meateater videos? Get a life.

Nothing like having ur childhood hero drop himself 10+ levels.........
I truly thought Steve knew better than to fall Fer alot of this shit and let his heart lead his head blindly past the science .............He will learn better with the rest of the dippys. It just takes time Fer history to repeat(as it already IS)
What is he not following the science on ?
Had to turn it off when he was talking about Biden running for president. Made it feel like a re run.

You misspelled "gamesmanship"... But I support your case, all the same.
I agree. I stopped watching without Steve. Even if they have him every few times. Recently he hasn't been there in a long time.
