    I grew up in South St Pete, maybe 15 minutes from St Pete Beach. We've had that house since 1993 and I will never let my mother sell our house.

    I will always take the heat over the cold. When it is hot I am uncomfortable and I am sweating, but I am not in pain. The cold is very painful.

    I just love the weather in Florida. The summer is hot, but you can enjoy the pool or beaches and life outside. I love to go for long walks with my wife in the evening during/after sunset. The winters are incredible, sunny days not too hot. I mean, in my book, great weather all year around. Really lovely. I don't understand why people complain. Oh well, I moved from Chicago, months of cold weather, cloudy most of the year and lots of snow... LOL

      I think if you are low or middle income, it is getting more difficult to maintain in Florida. The cost of rent, food, insurance etc, is increasing. It is pricing many of us out. If you make a six figure income, go for it. Best Wishes.

    A 7 month working vacation made a turn. I have been here for about thirty years . Always wanting to go home but it's never the right time, the right deal... on and on. So here I am backed in a corner. Welcome to Tampa Florida. Is there a better place to go? Let me know.

      San Diego is really beautiful and where I saw my first palm tree, but tbh, St Pete is very much the same with its numerous beaches. Lots of art, music, good restaurants, too. We’re pretty flat, but surrounded by water;) Lots of water sports. Springs nearby.

    I just moved from Chicago and I would agree about the crime (Safety definitely a pro). I have never worried about my car being broken into or stolen. There are questionable neighborhoods for sure but they are fairly isolated. A couple of other cons: 1) Quality of water: the drinking water is filled with sulfur and is disgusting. I would budget $3-$5K in a water softener for your home and 2) Lack of entertainment options: if you are looking to see your favorite act touring the country, they will usually go to Orlando and Miami but never to Tampa. There are no independent movie theaters (even AMC does not have even one theater that they would consider "independent"). The art venues are okay; I've been to a few but would probably never go again or buy a membership.

      If you are thinking about Law school, think about where you want to work. You always network starting in school. And you must know Miami is extremely aggressive. Where Tampa is more mid-America values. These are the most important things to consider.

      Or maybe Northern FL near the panhandle like Panama City Beach.

    Which areas in Tampa have less COCKROACHES issue? I absolutely despise them. I can wrestle a gator but those little creatures give me shivers down my spine. I am also a clean freak. So if I see that bug in my kitchen i will have to wash everything with extremely hot water. I am ok with lizards and other bugs though. 😂

    • @trulivingtampa
      @trulivingtampa  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      They are not an issues, unless you don’t take care of your house. Don’t stress 😎

    • @picklechips1483
      @picklechips1483 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Palmetto bugs / roaches are almost inevitable here in FL as a whole.
      German roaches are the ones that will infest dirty homes, but regular roaches will just pop in and out every once in a while.
      It's just because it's a swamp outside and the roaches are looking for somewhere to hide.
      Keeping your home clean, sealed off from the outside, have a good bug guy, and live in a suburb. Those are the best pieces of advice I can give! 😂

    In terms of traffic and driving, nearly all transplants are slow. Not just the old people, who are far fewer than the popular stereotype. Folks of all ages are slower necessarily, many times to a ridiculous extent. Freeways and expressways are built for driving fast, so speed up or drive somewhere else. You are not the hall monitor. If you're driving at what you consider to be a reasonable speed and someone wants to pass you, move over. You will not die if you drive faster than 40-45mph. You will not spontaneously spin out of control if you drive faster than 35 while it's raining. And if you don't like aggressive Floridians tailgating you, go faster. This is our home and just because you can legally move here doesn't prevent you from being a jerk for disruptive, oblivious driving. If you move to a new place and are unwilling to adapt, you're just rude and nobody wants you here.

  • @AllenInRealLife
    @AllenInRealLife 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This video is triggering.... you speak about investors and people moving here casually. Ignoring the ramifications to the locals who were already here. Jobs don't pay well here. People with remote jobs are moving in and pricing locals out. Stop saying "our" and "we". You're not one of us.

    • @trulivingtampa
      @trulivingtampa  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You’re entitled to your opinion, and I can appreciate your perspective. However, I assure you, my family and are locals, too.
      Just because we weren’t born here doesn’t mean we don’t care. We live, work, and contribute to “our” local economy and pay our taxes just like you.
