Just as I chose something loud and angry by the Clash on my walkman - A Spitfire growled its way from behind and right over my head, descending into the valley below me - and all was right with the world. I love stuff that rattle us with thunder and keeps us looking up.
Or how fantastic it sounds the Merlin/Griffin used in the Spitfire and other WW2 aircraft is one of the best sounding engines ever made 👍 makes your spine tingle

I was there as well. It was a magnificent way to start their set! If only the pilot had ejected, to reveal it was Brucie parachuting down to the stage, with the spitfire exploding in one of the empty fields. Now THAT'S how you start a show. 😂

The crowd knew it was coming..everyone's spinning heads looking around for it, not much talk just the announcer saying they're nearly here, totally still ... . ..sound and visual arrive as one BOOM !! 40 feet above your head at 300mph, you never forget that. It's COMPLETELY different from seeing it gently swooping around a half mile away.

Hurricanes may have got more kills but there were far more of those in the Battle of Britain, Over 700 Hurricanes but only 372 Spitfires so for the kill rate to be so close the Spit was far more effective.
No, that's definitely a spitfire Mk16. Note the clipped wingtips, teardrop canopy and 4 bladed propeller. A hurricane is much bulkier and has a different wing shape.

I know exactly what you mean. I had a similar treat although it wasn’t a Supermarine Spitfire but a de Havilland Vampire. Still beautiful though.
Probably the best experience I've ever had seeing a band. The video doesn't do justice to how loud that engine was

Nope, wrong silhouette....it's a clipped wing Spit MK V - has the Cannons. Hurricane has central intake under pilot..Spit has one under each wing.

Hurricane focused on the fighters spit on bombers, there were more fighters than bombers
