      The ball barely touched the strike zone. That shouldn't have been a strike. If the ball doesn't get 100% of the strike zone, it should be a ball then. When you go buy a slice of pizza, would you still pay them if they left off the crust? No right.

      Can't wait until they get rid of umpires calling balls and strikes. Anderson was out of line but I've had enough of all of this. • @michaelalbertson7457
      @michaelalbertson7457 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We don't know what Tim said to the ump. Or maybe the ump knew the rule about questioning a pitch call, and was having a bad day. Or he knew it was a strike. I've seen other players do what Anderson did in complaining about a pitch call and continue the AB. But It happened, get over it, and play ball. He deserved the suspension.
      His batting helmet bill accidently hit the ump's cap or maybe forehead. So stand a foot further away. Pointing a finger in someone's face is inexcusable in this situation.
      He must have watched a lot of old time baseball when the managers got in the ump's face many times like that, but these times are different, he should know that.

  • @oldguydoesstuff120
    @oldguydoesstuff120 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Saw this first on Jomboy, and the pitch to Anderson sure looked like a good strike to me. When he stands up after the pitch, you can see that the box on the screen is below his belt and therefore a bit low. Assuming the dot on the screen is located properly (a big assumption, I know) the pitch is clearly a strike. And that's how it was called. Anderson might want a lower strike zone, but that's not where his is. Good call on the pitch, and good call on the ejection. Bad choices by Anderson. A bit of jawboning is fine - trying to influence the zone a tad lower. That's part of the game. But he needed to let it go after a couple of words and not keep dwelling on it. And getting in the ump's face like that? Risking contact, and that's exactly what happened. Anderson earned the ejection, and he earned the suspension I would assume has followed.

    That slight helmet to brim of hat bump is a ridiculous call. Tim’s not the first player to do that. That said, he’s been in the media a lot this season and this further magnify’s the controversy he’s brought to himself lately. Minus the Jackie Robinson incident which was warranted, there’s been a few other incidents this season. Hopefully this sparks the team at least, because it’s been a dreadful season this far. I just hope he cools it because the Sox are known to move on from the players who bring issues to the clubhouse dynamic. Lucky for Tim he’s been productive and has a track record of being a good leader. He just needs to turn it around right now.

Nobody wins here but if you're going to suspend Anderson, sanction the Umpire for a blown call and an early toss of Anderson. The mild contact was made "after" the ejection.
