It’s a pretty easy thing to forget in such a complex game state! Lots of end of turn/beginning of turn triggers that aren’t on Carl’s cards. While it’s both players job to maintain a legal game state, Jamin also should help Carl remember this trigger.
Fantastic game! Super enjoyable to watch and both decks seem like a lot of fun!

I second this deck! I'm a very casual player, and I have a Hapatra deck, but it's very inconsistent & not very strong because I rarely buy any cards at all. I would love to see a version of a deck I love actually explore its own potential.
@@wyvernofred there are budget options for all the expensive cards, not as strong but with an effect close enough to be playable.
Hapatra is also fun to play in Commander (she's my favourite commander and my pet edh deck).
@@JonnMcDude oh I could definitely buy a version of this deck for not that much money, I just tend not to spend much on cards in general. If I do buy a deck sometime soon though, I'd most likely work on upgrading my hapatra

Small Video Idea, if you ever need another one: Recently, me and my girlfriend have been getting into Winston Drafts as a way to enjoy drafts with just two players. I was thinking maybe that is something you could do on the channel? It would be a really fun way to show off some limited play on the channel too!
We tried limited in the early days and the views were abysmal :/ but Winston draft might be a fun workaround! We are all mostly draft players and this could be the hack we need to play our favorite format for work! :D

Pioneer needs Nantuko Shade! But we now have Misery Shadow which is fine, too.

Unfortunately the deck is both ... one of the very most expensive ones (thanks to EDH) in Pioneer and not positioned too well in the current meta.

This is wild. I homebrewed a Naya midrange for pioneer a couple of years ago, but it's nothing like this. Admittedly there's a bunch of newer cards in there, but I run Golden Goose, Sylvan Caryatid, Questing Beast, Courser of Kruphix. And the top end is Glorybringer or Sarkhan the Dragonspeaker because I can't decide between them.
Been playing 8-Rack no Rack in Pioneer for about a year now. With Dominaria United we got huge upgrades like Liliana, Sheoldred and The Raven Man. You play alot of cards in this deck that people have probably never played against like Unburden and Liliana's Triumph. I really do recommend!

Been playing mono b devotion in pioneer for almost 1 year now. Got 2nd in the regional qualifier with it recently and I love it.
Maybe he just didn't draw it but wishclaw talisman is the best card in this deck after underworld dreams
19:00 Missed the lethal life. Let lili die, then untap and double level warlock. Swing for 2, eot they take another 2 then 4 then 8 for lethal

The board is absolutely a work in progress, since it’s been a while since I’ve played. But it’s a pretty explosive mill deck that operates at instant speed, save when casting it’s namesake card Sanity Grinding. The idea is to Twincast your powerful mill cards in grinding and Archive Trap. Mission Briefing is the glue of the deck, allowing you to buyback Archive Trap, Counterspell, Visions, whatever you need

First match Carl wins on 19:43 if he just levels both warlock classes and makes Jamin sacrifice. 3 triggers for 1 from a creature dying, then 3 triggers for an oppont losing as much as he already lost. So 1 1 1, then 3, then 6, then 12 which is 24 life total

That mono-black devotion deck looks like an absolute blast to play.
I love alternate win conditions. Here is a deck that plays not one, but two of them. The creatures in the deck are there to block. But they draw a so they replace themselves in the hand. Eventually you sweep the board and crush them with card advantage. In fact this deck runs Clear the Mind just in case you draw your entire deck. It wins by either Approach, Triskaidekaphile or Ao Beatdown.
