Without Arnel we would all be waiting for Steve Perry to come back. Arnel has kept one of the biggest Rock and Bands alive. Arnel has kept all of our dreams and childhood memories alive. Arnel knows he is not Steve Perry, but he has the passion for the music of Journey. Not only has Arnel's dreams come true, but he has kept our most favorite band fade away into history. I LOVE Steve Perry's voice just as much as the next fan, but I am glad that Arnel is keeping the band alive for all of us. Thanks Arnel and thank you to Journey for finding him. God Bless you guys!
I also saw Journey last night in Beaumont, TX. It was a wonderful show. I was very pleasantly surprised. I am definitely a renewed fan of Journey. Arnel's voice is great and I agree that his energy and passion were incredible. They played a wide variety of songs and I didn't want it to be over when it ended. The time flew! I hope to see them again!
My son is 21 yes old and loves Journey. He asked me if I heard the new singer...well he showed me and as soon as I heard Arnel sing...wow, felt like 1983, OKC. If they came close to OK I would take my son.. We love you all!!
@@burningcalmness the fan of journey are Ls they wouldnt appreciate arnel talent they would always assume that steve perry is better like who gives a fuck yuu think that guy can sing right now ? Hes like in his 70s
I have been a Journey fan from the beginning and i have also been to Alongapo City, Manila and a few other places in the Phillipines. I'm almost 50 and what i have learned is nothing stays the same, everything changes. I love Steve Perry and nothing will ever take from his time in Journey but now they needed a new singer and they have chosen Arnel Pineda. These band members that have played their signature sound for decades have chosen Arnel. I have heard Arnel sing and I think he is GREAT! He sounds a lot like Perry but at the same time has his own sound. Arnel, thank you for having the courage to step in and fill some VERY big shoes. I wanted to encourage you Arnel and tell you that I stand with you. Now go out and melt their faces off!
His voice is just fantastic, has a lot of feeling in it. When he sings Open Arms it always makes me cry, for whatever reason lol. He has brought Journey back to life. Great group.
Great JOB Arnel.👍👏. Of COURSE we LOVE Steve Perry. I wish he never would have left Journey. But YOU ARE the Best replacement they could have found. I saw you in Jacksonville Fla., couple yrs back, and plan on seeing you again this summer. My ALL TIME FAV; JOURNEY STILL ROCKS 🎼🎵🎶🎸🎹🥁 🎤 🎼🎵🎶.😍🤗😚💖💖💝💘
I just watched Journey tonight and this man done a very very great job...His voice is extremely similar to that of Steve Perry. He did a great job and had a lot of energy and Journey is one of the very few bands that are better live than on a CD.
He was a singer here in Hong Kong for a while, and I knew a bunch of other filipino musicians in his circles (HK is a very small place). Filipinos are VERY musical people so it's not too surprising he got the gig!
This guy is awesome! Yes yes we know no one will replace Steve Perry. But I give Arnel his credit. He has an amazing voice and is doing a fantastic job
We saw them last night, St.Louis, Missouri, it was again FANTASTIC! What a great story about Arnel, God Bless you. Keep on doing the good thing for poor children in Phillipines.
Having to replace a lead singer rarely works, but not in this case. He is amazing. I often cant tell the difference. I'm really happy that a whole new generation of people experience this music.
I know a lot of great vocalists out there, but what makes Arnel Pineda’ special is he can be sounds like those great vocalists and not just his own great vocal. How cool is that?! So that’s why He is the best male vocalist in the world for me🔥
It's really amazing that they found someone who kept the Journey sound virtually the same. I've enjoyed listening to Journey for a long time. Keep it going guys.
I was in the Marine Corps in 1980 I was over seas in the Philippines and when I went out to the clubs at night I found allot of bands that played American music they impressed me very much as a guitar player myself. I'm glad this guy found a place in what he loves to do, and yes the people in the Philippines are mostly poor it was sad to see.
Arnel has a heart of gold. He has helped put out two foundations for the benefit of streetchildren of Manila. He once was one like them. He's just about to wrap up a series of benefit concerts in US-Canada with his former bandmates to play their youtube hits. Tomorrow july30 at Toronto John Bassett Theatre.
Journey has rejuvenated! they click so good with Arnel, he is great, he is a good showman and you can see it in the other guys eyes when they look at him sing, they are phenominal together! saw them last nite at the first nite of their kick off tour! Great show guys! would see you again and again and againnnnnnnnnn!
I see Journey on Viña del Mar, the first performing with Arnel as lead singer. They were AWESOME... Arnel win the heart of the entire public. He have the voice, and the angel to do this.
I just love him..what an amazing humble man..love to watch him perform..what a voice..I saw him doing other 80s bands live and he sounded just like the other singers too.. awesome
This is awesome if people see like I do as an American living in the Philippines what talent just goes to such waste and to see one make it like this is heart fulfilling.I just hope people realize how great the Filipino people are and what they can give to the music industry now.
12 years hence now, yet Steve will always remain the best for Journey but this humble diminutive asian called Arnel is simply another class apart from the crowd with that amazingly pitch perfect and powerful soprano! Merry Christmas to you all here, Arnel, Steve and Journey🎄☃️🎉🌟❤️✌️
My wife and her parents are from Cebu, Philippines. They moved here in the mid '70s. We just met a band from Cebu on a Norwegian cruise line last week. Not only are the Filipinos very talented performers, they are also VERY nice people.
ha i was watching download on tv and i told me my mom to come in and listen to their new singer. she said that when she was in the kitchen she thought that steve was singing with them arnel has definitely got talent. :)
Loved Steve Perry as lead singer in the original Journey but gotta say I think Arnel Pineda is AMAZING. JOURNEY is back and stronger than before. Arnel brings such great quality vocals (Perry-esque but yet all his own), an amazing youthful energy and vibrant talent to the group. Congratulations guys and hope you are around for a long, long time.
I have seen them twice....once with CHEAP TRICK....sold out and once with HEART...sold out.....crowd was NUTS for them.....Arnel is soulful and humble and shows great talent!!
Arnel comes across as a friendly, open, energetic and talented guy, someone who can work the crowd in a way that the other band members can't. The others can wow with their playing skills but Journey's music needs a relatible person at the forefront. Pineda fits that very well.
This was divine intervention. An established rock band open minded enough to know they had more music and entertainment to give and yet not so arrogant that they tried to make due with any old singer or reinvent themselves with a new singer. People want that tone, that sound, that feeling they had when they first heard these tunes and yet still want that same tone and sound for future memories too. What a great success story for all.
This makes me like Journey even MORE. These guys sound amazing with this new singer because he sounds just like Steve Perry, which is the sound of Journey. Steve Perry rocked and still does because thats essentially him on stage.
Lastnight I saw the concert they performed in Manila and all I can say is wow! Arnel was an amazing performer. You can tell he puts all heart into his singing. I don't think I have seen an artist pay so much attention to the audience as he did. Do I miss Steve? Of course. But Arnel is a fitting replacement and should be welcomed with "open arms".....no pun intended.
Regardless of how you feel about which singer you like, it truly is an amazing story of how Arnel was discovered and the amazing opportunity he has been given. I think we can all agree on that.
No, he doesn't. Go compare any LIVE versions of Arnel to Perry. Clean out your ears first. Arnel hacks up the songs because he lacks music training and vocal lessons. He mumbles the verses, and he tends to scream the chorus, and in the middle, he doesn't always have proper phrasing. It's a hack job.
kt No, I'm definitely NOT the only person that thinks the way I think. Ever wonder why they can't sell that many albums anymore with Arnel? The Greatest Hits album from over 30 years ago STILL SELLS 500,000+ copies a year and that's the Steve Perry versions. After all these years, Journey with Steve Perry still outsells anything Arnel has done. You guys are clueless. Arnel is a poser. He's just a copy cat singer. Has he written his own blues song? NOPE. He's just mincing Steve Perry, which doesn't NOT mean you understand a music form like Blues.
kt You should spend time watching videos of Steve Perry and listen to his devoted fans. Any time someone brings up Arnel you get mostly people that can't stand Arnel. Arnel is still with Journey because they can manipulate him and he brings in the Filipino crowd that doesn't have anyone else to idolize in the American rock world. Journey is using this guy to sell albums to a new audience that's no alliance with Steve Perry. Basically stupid people. Filipinos like Arnel because they can relate to him. But others can't. I've talked to older Journey fans that saw Arnel and many of them weren't impressed. Some said he sucked, some said he was just OK, and some didn't care who's singing because they just want to hear their favorite Journey song at a concert because they probably can't tell the difference since they are getting drunk and stoned at concerts and your brain can't tell the difference at that point between good and bad singing.
Sounds fantastic- he's given the band a second life! I hope in addition to recreating all the old favorites, the band maybe comes out with some new stuff. The guy's got enough talent!
I have been to well over 100 concerts. I grew up a metal head. Journey is one of the best if not THE best band I have ever seen live. Over Ozzy, Metallica, Slayer, etc...
Steve Perry was great. But Neil didn't want to hire someone who sounded like Perry. He stated that he could go that direction and hire the singers he saw that sounded like Perry in Journey tribute bands but he said that he saw something in Arnel. His voice soared high. A soulful tenor and powerful as well. Also I think Neil saw Arnel's vocal capability to adapt on what element the song needed ( This is shown when Arnel emulates and captivates the vibe and tone of other great singers like Jon Bon Jovi, Steven Tyler, Ann Wilson etc.). They didn't hire Arnel because he sounded like Steve Perry, he sounds close sometimes but no. Instead they want a new voice that fits what kind of music they play. That is what they found in Arnel. All you saying he doesn't sound like Steve, well.. WE ALL KNOW THAT! They did not want him to sound just like Steve anyway. He is just unique in his own way and he keeps Journey breathing and rocking. Respect for Arnel please. The dedication he puts into Journey can clearly be observed even though he is past his prime already.
I never stopped believing not when it comes to journey I think they'll find ways to just keep on going God willing, may the Lord bless them and keep them healthy and thank you God for finding Arnel . And I still love Steve Perry too 💓
arnel is good. he sings well and the vocal range is awesome. the recording speaks for itself. perfect pitch and good nasal sound. good rock tenor voice.
ARNEL is a funny guy, I like him, great voice and a great band JOURNEY, I never knew this band until the discovery of Arnel Pineda, I didnt know they play my favorite song, Open Arms, until they came up w/ Arnel. so now I'm a Journey fan all the way!!

Not often do "replacement" singers fit so well. In this case, I think it truly gives the band "Journey" two lives, both legitimate and great, with neither diminishing the other.
Arnel is brilliant and his story is so amazing in itself...........I guess it must be difficult for Steves` fans to see him so totally replaced, but really Arnell has an amazing voice and can do the job. I say...............just enjoy it and if you don`t? Sit in a dark room and hug your old record collection :0)
I like the fact that they found a good voice to continue playing for the fans. Love their music. Sure we miss Steve Perry and Gregg Rolie not being in the band, but life goes on. Stop and enjoy the ride.
Exactly! Arnel isn't Steve Perry, but only Steve Perry is Steve Perry. Arnel brings his own energy to the group, and it's great that he sounds similar to Steve but has his own flavor to bring with him. I can't wait to see them live!

I'm a HUGE fan of Steve Perry, but Arnel does a GREAT job taking on that hard role.
Journey - ROCK ON!
This guy is great!! Journey has always been my fav. Band.
His story is really awe inspiring!
Awesome voice, incredible!
Wow!
❤️😊👍
He has a Brilliant Voice just like Steve
Very close in range, they couldn't have picked any better
