Thanks for posting! I find that it's much easier to remove the shell if you put it in boiling water for 15 seconds prior to removing it. That's how I do it anyhow, but there is obviously many ways that work. I also rub the tip with salt to remove the dark brown part. Works like a charm. I can't wait to go dig my next one!

Being totally ignorant about geoduck clams, should I assume that geoduck is always served as sashimi and not fully cooked? Thanks for an informative video.
The stomach is actually great to make a clam stock or a creamy base broth for clam chowder. You can make a fish sauce out of it. It has really nice flavor. Especially geoduck being so expensive, you threw away a huge value there.

If you scrub the whole dong with sea salt, the red corona will bleach pure white and the whole dinglaling will get crispy and you can filet it paper thin. Nice video.

i've seen geoduck at our asian markets here in sacramento california but they look dead unlike the ones they sell in seattle washington. would it be best if the geoducks are still squirting water or would it be okay if they are dead?
if you rub sea salt into the colored tip, it is possible to completely remove the coloring. you can have a uniform color with salt instead of using a knife. just a little tip.

But there is no way in hell i would pay $18-22 a pound: because i been digging geoduck for the last 10years on my own private beach here in Washington St.

When i need horror, i search down "Geoduck" or "Squid sashimi", then i follow the recommandations. Never disappointed.
