Niall’s smile at the end was… everything! Plus it’s so nice to see a happy LGBTQ+ short film, even the saddest part was only an initial rejection and it wasn’t aggressive. This is up there with ‘The Way he Looks’ for revolutionary gay/disabled love stories
Why oh why does everything have to be LGBTQ++++++++ these days, why cant it just be what it is, Same Sex, all the other stuff people do with all these pronouns and gender is all crap, social engendering at it's best, you do realize this is all programed propaganda right, ever wonder why everything has become weaponized? Sexuality, Church, Religion, Education, politics, social justice, all labels created and used against us all, to divide us all rather then live and let live, why can't people just be. human in all their glory as long as their authentic in their being. @@SuperMatt2112 in so far that there shouldn’t be a need for labels for people, and we should just be who we are: I agree. As for the “LGBTQ+’ label issue, we might disagree in its use. The ideal label for me here would just be “non-heteronormative” which would cover all relationships that aren’t straight, but who in their right mind would say that? I hope this has been clarifying for you, with respect to my choice of words. But If you’re just here to look for a fight, then you’re out of luck. I just wouldn’t reply.
@@SuperMatt2112 history is the main reason why it is important to do all this, if you don’t think so then you are the one who should learn some history. Only after all of this is finally normalized everywhere and by everyone, and after everyone respects each other’s rights, then we can live and let live. This is not “propaganda”, this is reality.
@@SuperMatt2112 How about you let other people with different identities live and let live, take your own words of advice. Stop watching media that convinces you that other people you don't understand are just indoctrinated. You're gay, congrats, want an award? And yes, rights need to be specified. Are whites mercilessly killed by police the way POC are? Are trans women abused more than cis women? How long was it since gay marriage was allowed, and also, can you be denied service based on your sexuality with the excuse of "religious freedom"? Also, speaking of religion, when was the last time there was mass persecution of christians (or white people) as opposed to muslims or brown people? Who has suffered genocidal attacks in recent years, christian white men? The reason these distinctions are made is so you're aware of what people may be coming from. On average, LGBTQ and minorities have suffered far more and greater trauma then their "majority" counterparts, and if you want to understand where people come from you have to ask why, and get to the bottom of it. Dismissing it as mere propaganda is laziness and carelessness, and you should consider yourself lucky you haven't been through the trauma of others.
This is the kind of film I really wish was longer because I want to be in their company more. But at the same time it's a completely fullfilling story in itself. Just beautiful.
It was originally quiet. a bit longer. I enjoyed the original a lot, but this shorter version has the story at its essence. A comment from "basementvideos1" below confirms this. Great story, though.
Thank you all! Wow ! I'm overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support that you all have shown this film that changed my life. I wrote this screenplay while learning ASL and studying Deaf culture. I wanted to express that love with my art. I'm so grateful for the entire cast and crew who helped made this short possible. I'm currently working on new projects that I'm so excited to share with the world. Stay tuned. - xx Julio ( IG: @OfficialJulio ) Niall ( TikTok & IG: @Marciax3nyc ) Ansel ( IG: LukeFarls )
What a wonderful film . This is a pure gem. Now that we had the privilege be introduced to two wonderful characters, Niall and Ansel, I would really like to see the road they take together. I hope this is just a preview of a possible full length film.
Woah, I haven't seen this since I cut it - amazing to see everyone here loving it so much, very grateful to read all these wonderful comments. Julio and everyone who worked on this film were and are incredible artists. I was very lucky to be able to work with them!
I remembered this from many years ago. I wanted to show this to my BF for the dance sequence, in response to a dance clip he just showed me. I thought I remembered a longer solo dance performance with the other guy watching but unnoticed. Is there another clip featuring the dancer alone that I should look for? Thanks if you ever happen to read this and reply.
@@davidgervais8876 You would have to ask Julio, I don't have any of the footage, but I don't think so. I generally remember it being set up the way it was cut here.
Thank you so much for this, so beautiful. I am gay and my boyfriend has hearing loss. Both his parents are deaf so this means a lot to all of us. Big hug from Uruguay!
Such a sweet, happy story of learning to be accepting ...of new things, of others, and ourselves. Fine dancing, acting, writing, directing. An amazingly uplifting film in so many ways. Can't thank everyone involved enough! Would love to see this story continue!
This is just damned cute. Always central to these gay shorts is the turning point at which the two protagonists find that they are gay for each other and go for it. I'm 60 years old now. Things haven't changed much.
I come back to this short film every year or so, ever since I saw it for the first time all those years ago. It’s crazy how much these characters have stayed with me even after all this space and time. You guys did an incredible job, this is so beautiful.
How is it that superficial and sugary shorts are more popular than this one? The creators have depicted the birth of a connection with simplicity, yet in a way that this “wire” is almost tangible, just as I could sense it with my fingers. That’s the power of silence and of humility, letting things develop without rushing (as in most, poorly written, films). Thumbs up and thanks for this little gem!
This one is no less sugary, it's just done well. I will say, that the moment of the "lit up smile" in the presence of one longed for is maybe more powerful than the acknowledgment of the first kiss. Superficial and sugary, or drawn with a bit more depth, it's heartwarming and affirming in a (remembered) world of hopeless longing when younger.
This was beautiful. Makes me want to learn ASL so I can communicate with people like him. I remember in school trying to tell a boy hello after school and he didn't notice me at first. So I caught up with him and then he saw me. I waved and said hello. He smiled back at me. I asked him how his day was, and then he began to say something in sign that I didn't understand. I was confused, and felt really bad. I remember running to a teacher in tears because I thought I offended him. Being autistic, I always overthink and over worry when someone misunderstands me or gets offended. I used to have frequent breakdowns and anxiety attacks too. I still do unfortunately. The teacher said she would tell his aide and make sure that he knew that I meant well. I still didn't feel good after that. The next week I saw him, he waved at me. I just glanced at him and looked down at the ground. He tried to get my attention, but I was having an anxiety attack, which sometimes makes me go mute because it gets so bad. I signed that I was feeling bad the best I could by pointing at myself and doing a thumbs down. I pointed to the sky and it was overcast that day. He understood but still tried to get me to go over to him. I shook my head no and signed sorry. My teacher's aide taught me how. He then walked up to me and handed me a note that said he had a good day and hope I did too. After that I couldn't get myself to talk with him again because I felt so bad for being unable to understand or communicate. I remember not really being able to speak much that week due to my anxiety and deep regret. It still affects me today, minus the childhood trauma I deal with every day. I wish people would understand that sometimes my anxiety makes me go mute and I can't communicate. Most people say I'm faking a disorder when I'm really not. I don't even know what to do or how to communicate when it gets that bad. I just hope that it's over soon and that's it. 😔
That's a beautifully written, extremely well acted and efficiently directed short film. Not single bit in it is out of order or don't feel unnecessary. And it makes you smile in the end as if you find your peace in their acceptance of love.
Glad to see a deaf gay film. On many occasions, I’ve seen groups of deaf gays at clubs, so it’s good to see them get representation. And yeah, deaf gays can tear up a dance floor just as much as those with hearing.
Yes, rhythm is a brain thing, not an ear thing. More annoyingly, perfect pitch is also a brain thing, NOT an ear thing. I know I girl who got just enough benefit from hearing aids that she wore them. She could recognize her friends by voice but never got words. Anyway, one day there was this guy whoi liked to sing and he walked past her room. She came out screaming, "STFU!!! STOP!!! OMFG! WTF is your problem? You're way off key and you're FLAT!!! And what's wrong with all of you with perfect hearing? How can you stand it?" And there was me with perfect hearing but I have NO rhythm and am seriously tone deaf. His singing didn't bother me at all, lol. So yeah, pitch and rhythm work just fine without hearing, bizarre as that sounds. Funny thing was since I'm fluent in ASL, I got nominated to explain it all to her. It blew her mind. She just thought she was more sensitive than most peoplewith her hearing loss. She had no idea that people with perfect hearing could be oblivious to things like being off key:-)
I just have to say this short film was so conversational through all the gestures, It was beautifully told through actions. I loved that the guy tried to have a conversation even though he didn't know the sign what made me smile is the final kiss :) I really enjoyed it thanks for sharing this beautiful piece of wonder.
8 1/2 years in ballet, modern and jazz, and I still feel the massive bruise on my butt when my first en l'aire dropped me like a rock. Absolutely adore this story, and thank you to the creators for creating one that includes a differently abled person.
this is incredible. it shows great emotion, connection and relationship growth with few words and hardly any communication between the two main characters. its a great and endearing story for the Lgbtq+ and the disabled community and one of the best short films I've seen.
Beautiful to the core. Being specially able and bisexual, this depiction of minute detailing on communication took my breath away! Thank you very much! For putting light on sexual orientation+communication and disability.
Yes, I'm amazed at how short some peoples' attention spans seem to be, yet a lot want to see full length films. The art of the short film is just that, an art. It's much more difficult to convey a convincing story in under 20 minutes.
The smile at end was so endearing and you could tell what's the story all about💖I wonder why,Short Film has always the best than actual movie,I mean it's different to an actual movie which is the flavor and it's taste are very incomparable💙I like this
hello! why did this just get recommended to me now?? this film was amazing and there was clearly alot of heart and soul and research for positive representation put into this. this film is beautiful, inclusive, and tells and amazing story and i love the characters. honestly going forward there should be more stuff like this. but fr you and the team did a great job making this 💙
Yo low key low key my mind, blown🤯 it was amazing, so amazing if i were in a movie theater i would clap so loud all tge way till the credits finished roll, it was so amazing that if i were pre-school teacher, snaps i would force everyone to do snaps👏🫰🥹
Marty Lauer’s beautifully delicate performance as Niall is the highlight of this short film and helps overcome some odd time transitions and what for me was a premature ending. The riding of bikes without headlights on snow covered wintry streets in the dead of a night was distracting.
such a lovely story, i would love to see it continue because so far everything is brilliant. the actors are amazing and so is the directors, congrats to everyone involved!
Love is everywhere and no one should rehearse , rush , force or predict it. This little film has gently portrayed these delicate sentiments …. One word, Sweet.
All I can say is that This was Freakin Beautiful ✨✨✨ I loved this soo much and wish more to see in future of this. Well done all the actors, directors and everyone out there❤️✨❤️
this short was very important to homosexuals with disabilities. I myself am gay with mild autism. thank you all for this short, and the channel owner...
I liked this short no frills story. You don't need alot of fancy movie crap to express a real honest and true story. We need more stories with real everyday people with people who may have some disability, who love and want to be loved, are sexy and want to accept to be accepted .
I LOVE this short video, I've watched it three times in the last couple of months and it always warms my heart to see it. I wish they'd do a series about these two guys or a 90 minute movie.

Ansel - Show me some dance moves. You’re recruiting new dancers, right? Ansel - Show me something… simple. Ansel - Yeah, like that spinny-thing you do on your toes. Ansel - Simple enough. Ansel - Oh, one second. Ansel - Yeah. Ansel - Get your laughs out now. This move is about to end your career. Ansel - I guess dancing just isn’t my thing. Ansel - I should get going. Beginning at 10:52 Kenya - Writer’s block? Ansel - Sort of. Kenya - You… want to talk about it? Ansel - Not really. Kenya - Can I see that? Kenya - He’s freaking out. You know? Ansel - I know. I didn’t mean to offend him. Kenya - Talk to him. Next Scene Kenya - Okay. Ansel - I’m sorry, Niall. That’s all I’ve learned so far.
The shared space premise was a great device for the main setting. Ansel could have practiced anywhere as where Niall needs the mirrored space, So Ansel choose to return to the space, direct intention confirmed. And based on that I saw this as a treatment for a longer film. Kudos to Luke and Marty and much success in the future. Cast and all Crew I thank you and salute you I do!
It's great how much you can understand even only knowing a little asl, and even though Lauter is hearing, I think he does a really great job portraying a deaf character and I love how expressive he is. especially with that sort of 'oh yeah' thing he does when ansel is like yeah that spin is easy
Why am I thinking of dating a deaf person now 🤦🤦I mean these guys have feelings more than we who can hear..they feel whatever they express and are always pure 🥺🖤🖤
Wow - Poignant!!! Having lived something similar in my MUCH younger years... and now seeing it come to life in a beautifully executed video was emotional, to say the least. Bravo!
beautiful. why don't make a movie out of this short film. flow of the story is excellent so with the acting of the casts. though being a gay, they really do wanted very much to be watch for their talents gifted by God and also know how tofeel in love.
Short but so so sweet. I just wanted to be friends with Niall all the way through. His smile is precious. Both characters were sympathetic and relatable. The actors did a great job. I think anyone regardless of preference can relate to the insecurities of liking someone and not knowing if they like you back but it's even more anxiety inducing when you have that added factor of 'are they or aren't they' because we know how quickly things can go south if you risk making a move on the wrong person. Yay for a happy ending!
I'm a gay deaf gentleman from New York, Marty Lauter is a great actor, and this film is awesome, wish could do more ending story. I would love to meet him ~ I'm an actor.
I'm currently trying to learn ASL although I'm not deaf/loosing my hearing/in contact with a deaf person, simply because in my opinion, you should know at least the basics if you want to have a society in which everyone is included equally. There should definitely be classes in school for that.
A sweet n sour new love story. I sure miss romance, it's been a lonely while, so I live it through stories like this. Nice short film, I wanted it to keep going.
Beautiful work of art! Every scene so palpable. I love the editing! Also: the actors reminded me of how I pictured Simon Snow and Baz(if Ansel had longer hair) from Rainbow Rowell's Carry On series lol they're perfect
Loved the short and loved their chemistry between the actors... I have one big suggestion that will make a huge difference and that's adding subtitles... I think it would make perfect sense since well it's a story about a disabled person who can't hear and also people who don't speak English can also benefit from subs... Lots of people are asking in the comment section which is why I decided to suggest it cause I do think it needs it...
Niall’s smile at the end was… everything!

this is incredible. it shows great emotion, connection and relationship growth with few words and hardly any communication between the two main characters. its a great and endearing story for the Lgbtq+ and the disabled community and one of the best short films I've seen.
Thank you so much Abbey !
Marcia Marcia Marcia has a lot of talent, love to see it in this short film
omg....i didn't realise till you mentioned it
I was like... is that M3??
What a deceptively simple, short and wonderful film, that eloquently articulates the truth that emotions are transcendent of barriers.
Beautiful to the core. Being specially able and bisexual, this depiction of minute detailing on communication took my breath away! Thank you very much! For putting light on sexual orientation+communication and disability.
Thank You so much Sushmita for your kind words !
omg I need a 3 movies and 5 season series of them right now (also I love the sone at the end)
This is just the enough stuff for a short film, not more not less. Beautiful.ಥ_ಥ
Yes, I'm amazed at how short some peoples' attention spans seem to be, yet a lot want to see full length films. The art of the short film is just that, an art. It's much more difficult to convey a convincing story in under 20 minutes.
Watched it again, two years later, and it's still heartwarming.
Yo this isn’t even ok how cute this is! I was so upset when the credits started rolling because I wanted more!
I love this short, wish it was longer or a weekly series.
donno...felt so emotional watching this..esp the last part...didn't evn realize my tears rolling down..
Finally a gay short movie ended with a happy ending.
🖤❤
That was so sweet and beautiful! Marcia Marcia Marcia is amazing. Real good acting.
Love is everywhere and no one should rehearse , rush , force or predict it. This little film has gently portrayed these delicate sentiments …. One word, Sweet.
All I can say is that This was Freakin Beautiful ✨✨✨
I loved this soo much and wish more to see in future of this.
Well done all the actors, directors and everyone out there❤️✨❤️
A lovely little film. My one criticism... Why would he leave after the kiss? I'd stay and enjoy his company!
That was lovely! So we’ll acted and beautifully produced. Would love to see it as a full length movie
Heartwarming story, well-acted, cute performers, diverse, absolutely wonderful! Thank you for your art!!!
This is so sad and so happy at the same time
this short was very important to homosexuals with disabilities. I myself am gay with mild autism. thank you all for this short, and the channel owner...
This should be a movie!!!!
I just cannot keep from watching this repeatedly. It is so very beautiful. It is like poetry visualized on film.
beautiful visualize poetry / Me thinks it to be quite a befitting description, Salute you I do!
@@Ipoetize Thank you very much.
this was so pretty, incredible writing and beautifully put together by everyone involved. thank you for this.
Thank You Jana ! ♥
Thank you so much for watching ! ❤️❤️❤️
Muito bom! Trilha sonora, roteiro, direção e atuações muito sensíveis. Enfoque pertinente. Amei!
I never knew Marcia Marcia Marcia was an actor! He did so well not only with drag, but with dancing and acting!

Ansel - Hey, do you mind if I grab a couple of chairs? Hey, buddy, do you mind if I grab a couple of chairs?
Kenya - What are you doing?
Ansel - I’m just grabbing a couple of chairs. Your friend here said it was okay.
Kenya - I don’t mind but the [the name of the facility that I don’t understand] closes in ten minutes.
Ansel - What!?
Kenya - Did you forget that they close early on Sundays?
Niall - I know now.
Kenya - You new here?
Niall - Can you tell?
Kenya - I’m Kenya, by the way.
Ansel - Ansel
Kenya - This is Niall.
Kenya - Your sister trains in the freshman classes, right?
Ansel - Jaimee, yeah.
Kenya - You want to grab some food with us?
Ansel - Can I get back to you on that?
Kenya - Okay, sure. See you around.
Ansel - See you.
Ansel - Ugh, come on, seriously?
Ansel - knocks very gently
Kenya - Hey.
Ansel - Hey. Um, the music college closed for the rest of the week. Do you mind if I practice in there?
Kenya - Um, yeah. Can I get back to you on that?
Ansel - Thanks.
Beginning at 4:51
Kenya - I’m exhausted. Oh, the posters! After class?
Kenya - Great…
Ansel - Hey.
Kenya - Hey.
Ansel - Uh, do you mind if I join you guys?
Kenya - Sure.
Ansel - Uh, I’m sorry about passing on the food thing the other day.
Kenya - Make it up to us. We’re short one person. We could use the help hanging flyers.
Ansel - Sure.
Kenya - It’ll be fun.
Ansel - Uh, are you…?
Ansel - Woah, that’s insane! And, you dance?
Kenya - He’s pretty good at reading lips too. Well, this is me.
Kenya - After class…
Ansel - I’ll be there!
Ansel - Well, I’m actually this way. Um, you should, you should get that fixed.
Ansel - I’m sorry. I didn’t catch any of that.
Ansel - I, um, never mind. Forget about it.
Beginning at 6:13
Kenya - Oh, sorry, I’m in a rush. I have an audition in Boston.
Ansel - Uh…

Ansel - Uh, you missed a spot.
Beginning at 8:15
Ansel - Can you hear the music?
Ansel - How?
Beginning at 10:52
Ansel - Show me some moves.
Beginning at 10:52
Kenya - Writer’s block?
Ansel - Sort of.
Kenya - You… want to talk about it?
Ansel - Not really.
Kenya - Can I see that?
Kenya - He’s freaking out. You know?
Ansel - I know. I didn’t mean to offend him.
Kenya - Talk to him.
Next Scene
Kenya - Okay.
Ansel - I’m sorry, Niall. That’s all I’ve learned so far.
Many thanks. You're sp kind.
Hey, I can't thank u enough =) TT ♡
Thank you so much! Upvote.
By God, I can't stop crying 😢😢😭😭😭 Watching this flim for the first time, it was on my mind.😢😢
If we can get 4 toxic-ass After movies I feel we should be able to get at least one wholesome movie of this short film.
Cast and all Crew I thank you and salute you I do!
the smile of Niall at the end i'm screaming, man this is so beautiful and cute I love it here!!
Wooooaaah! It is beautiful. Thank you to the actors, the director and everyone else for this beautiful piece.
Omggggg this is sooooooo sweeeeeet! love their interactions :))))))))
It's great how much you can understand even only knowing a little asl, and even though Lauter is hearing, I think he does a really great job portraying a deaf character and I love how expressive he is. especially with that sort of 'oh yeah' thing he does when ansel is like yeah that spin is easy
This was really nice and that smile at the end was just beautiful.
They are both so cute. Snd Niall is very flexible
The end is so precious ❤
I don't know if the actors are gay or straight but they did a wonderful just playing the guys in this film. Kudoos
Mds, q coisa mais linda!! Curto e simples, mas ao mesmo tempo TÃO significativo e inclusivo. AMEI!! 💜
Everything about it is beautiful but Nial's expressions and smile is everything🖤
we need another part please.. they are so adorable together
Why am I thinking of dating a deaf person now 🤦🤦I mean these guys have feelings more than we who can hear..they feel whatever they express and are always pure 🥺🖤🖤
I absolutely LOVED this little film, and yes, I wish there was more. But that doesn't mean it isn't perfect just the way it is.
Putting us in the shoes of Niall from 6:15 is a good one 👍🏽
Wow - Poignant!!! Having lived something similar in my MUCH younger years... and now seeing it come to life in a beautifully executed video was emotional, to say the least. Bravo!
Thank you so much ! I'm so happy that you were touched by this film.
Thank you so so so much for your sweet words. I shared your message on our Instagram page. I am thrilled you connected with this story.
Necesito parte 2 de esta historia, me encanto mucho el trabajo que lograron hacer entre todos, ame el video ❤.
beautiful. why don't make a movie out of this short film. flow of the story is excellent so with the acting of the casts. though being a gay, they really do wanted very much to be watch for their talents gifted by God and also know how tofeel in love.
I would love to meet him ~ I'm an actor.
the actor who portrays the deaf dancer is very good! I loved his performance
Awww... this was so sweet! I love seeing more happy endings in LGBTQ+ films these days! So uplifting.
This is so well put together. Pulled at my heartstrings. Give me a full length movie!
I'm currently trying to learn ASL although I'm not deaf/loosing my hearing/in contact with a deaf person, simply because in my opinion, you should know at least the basics if you want to have a society in which everyone is included equally. There should definitely be classes in school for that.
WOW i have been googling wether deaf people can hear and then i press play just for them to talk about it..
I KNEW HE LOOKED FAMILIAR!! 😭😭 MARCIA MARCIA MARCIA on Drag Race S15!!!
I thought i was just me!
Very beautifully shot, lovely story, wonderful actors, a little gem. Congrats to all who participated in this project!!
We need a part 2!!! This is amazing!🤩🤩🤩💥💥💥
Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for posting!!! My only complaint is that's it's way too short!!
Hello, This film Is both beautifull and inspiring. Thank You very much ❤
This give me The Way He Looks’ Vibe
11:28 Love watching Niall's look like "New Mission: Survive 😳😳"
finally thank you something not sad it actually ended in a happy mood
I get chills every time Ansel impulsively kisses Niall passionately. I might not be able to fall in love but I love this film.
This is great masterpiece! I need more scenes such as date at the cafe or in the classroom and more!
I could easily see this as a full-length film. I definitely wanted more after the end.
