Thanks for this video. It was very helpful. I will make two points/tips:1- before you buy the part pull out the heating element. When I pulled mine out there was all this gunk on it, an accumulation of clothing fibers. I took it off the element and anything else in the chamber. I put the old one back in and everything works fine. 2- when putting back on the rubber gasket with the ring. I find it super helpful to use to paint can opener. Have the spring on the bottom and pull push down on each side as you slide towards the center bottom. That part of the job can be a real pain in the butt. I’ve had my LG Tromm WM 2496 for 12 years. This is my 4th major repair. But it’s starting to rust pretty bad.

It depends on the model. I haven't checked mine yet but the first video I watched had a back pannel and the thermostat was attached separately so there was 5 screws to remove.
That's what I'm wondering because i have seen a back panel on other LG washers. Why doesn't this one have it? Might be an old model and they made the change after.

Helpful video. White wire going to Thermistor connector was broken. Video was helpful for getting to it. My washer is 12 years old, I just cut an 8 x x10 door hole in the front bottom of the washer to access this heater thermocouple part( So I didn't have to deal with the washer boot). Pull on all of those wires, one at a time, they move and vibrate with the washer drum, and more than one may be broken. None of my wires were broken, just a bad thermocouple/heater unit. Go to McCombs supply to buy the part.

Hi. So what am I supposed to check if my LG washing machine does not heat the water correctly. It does heat the water, but it doesn't reach the temperature it should. I bought a new heating element and readings on my multimeter on old and new are the same. It means that the hating element and thermistor are good. I don't have any fault code.
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders the heating element includes the thermistor. I've checked with multimeter and numbers on the new and old are the same, so I don't think there's something wrong with it. Could the next stem be a control board?
@@radjaculek Thanks for the update Jack, control board is possible. Did you notice any signs of damage or harm to the electrical wiring or connections on both heating element and control board?
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Is the plastic connection point broken or is the tab that the plastic connection connects onto broken? If plastic connection point is broke, you will need to splice wiring & install new connection. If tab is broken, soldering is an option however most would recommend to purchase new part all together. 😎👍

Hi and good morning, I installed the new control board in my LG frnt ld washer, and figured out why all the repair men wear gloves in the videos. The parts give nasty cuts on the finger tips. The machine turned on and emitted its chime, this is the good part. Today I move out the old top loader machine, and place this one into service. I will remain in front of the washer to observe which part of the cycle it malfunctions in, if it does. The heater element checks out at 14.1 ohms and 014 continuity. The ohms match the caculation results of the heater element which is 120 x 120 /1000watts = 14.1 The thermistor, well, that Ohms out at 53, but decreases as it gets warmer. 98.6 body temp lowered the Ohms to 34.0, so it is not malfunctioning. I did not get to check the water pump, though I cleaned out the filter. That is my update, THx

My wires connecting to the thermostat broke at the connector that the thermostat slides into. It’s connected to the entire machine! I’m not sure how to repair it 😭. any help is appreciated
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. You will need to splice broken wire & re-rap exposed wiring.
Then wrap with electrical tape to ensure no open wiring is exposed.
Below is a link to a video showing us splicing wiring while working on a boat.

So basically disassemble the entire washer. Got it.
Hi. So what am I supposed to check if my LG washing machine does not heat the water correctly. It does heat the water, but it doesn't reach the temperature it should. I bought a new heating element and readings on my multimeter on old and new are the same. It means that the hating element and thermistor are good. I don't have any fault code.
Thanks for watching, you may need to replace your Thermometer next.
Thermometer? My washer si LG WM2650HWA. Where can I find thermometer? BTW... Thanks for your quick reply...
@@radjaculek
Apologies. Your *Thermistor* may need to be replaced. 😁👍
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders the heating element includes the thermistor. I've checked with multimeter and numbers on the new and old are the same, so I don't think there's something wrong with it. Could the next stem be a control board?
@@radjaculek
Thanks for the update Jack, control board is possible. Did you notice any signs of damage or harm to the electrical wiring or connections on both heating element and control board?
My connector is broken, thermistor is fine. Anyway i can replace without having to solder with a whole new connector in place?
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Is the plastic connection point broken or is the tab that the plastic connection connects onto broken?
If plastic connection point is broke, you will need to splice wiring & install new connection.
If tab is broken, soldering is an option however most would recommend to purchase new part all together.
😎👍
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders thanks. The joint tab connection is broken. Do you know where i can buy this component? My washer is wm2077cw model, theres a small writing on it, “KET10”

Thanks for the reply, we did some searching & could only find a used Thermistor. Below is a link.

I'm a technician I have the same TE error problem and I find out the senor was faulty after I changed the heater coil and the sensor but again it's showing TE error I checked the pcb and wiring connector and the door switch but everything is ok but still showing the same TE error can you help me
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. The other culprit of the TE code is a faulty Thermistor.
We have had a few instances where we replaced element & still had TE code. We then checked the continuity of the Thermistor & it was good.
Took us a few hours to say...ya know what, we are going to replace the Thermistor even though it’s showing good...& not sure why to this day...but the new Thermistor solved issue.

Front cover does not need to be removed
Thanks for watching & sharing. 👍
I have a very similar LG washer setup.
The cost of a new water heater is prohibitive for me.
Can I just leave it disconnected and run the machine?

Thanks for watching Rob, great question! Unfortunately we haven’t ever operated a washer with failed parts due to the error codes they trigger & don’t complete the full cycle.
We aren’t sure how it will operate for you. Keep us posted on what you end up doing & how it works.

Hi and good morning,
I installed the new control board in my LG frnt ld washer, and figured out why all the
repair men wear gloves in the videos. The parts give nasty cuts on the finger tips.
The machine turned on and emitted its chime, this is the good part.
Today I move out the old top loader machine, and place this one into service.
I will remain in front of the washer to observe which part of the cycle it malfunctions in, if it
does.
The heater element checks out at 14.1 ohms and 014 continuity. The ohms match the caculation results of the heater element which is 120 x 120 /1000watts = 14.1
The thermistor, well, that Ohms out at 53, but decreases as it gets warmer.
98.6 body temp lowered the Ohms to 34.0, so it is not malfunctioning.
I did not get to check the water pump, though I cleaned out the filter.
That is my update,
THx

Awesome Awesome & thanks for taking the time to share your update. This is great info! We are happy to hear you’re making progress!
We definitely hear you on the “wearing gloves”....those little cuts can get your hands pretty quick.
Thanks again for the update! It sounds like your in a great position to having a good running & reliable washer.

How can I check the thermistor is working ???
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. You can use a volt meter to check the continuity of thermistor.

Thanks for watching & sharing your experience. By chance, is your Washing Machine showing any error codes?
If yes, what is the exact code the machine is showing? This will help us pinpoint the exact cause & part that needs to be replaced.

Yes IE error . When stop moving .
Jalil Almteen
Thanks for the update & the IE error code is related to a lack of water/water pressure supply.
There are many awesome videos on TH-cam that explain the IE error code. Unfortunately we don’t have a video on our channel at the moment.

Just wondering why I get this code every now and then, I have pampered it by inspecting all the wires none brokers or frayed, I just unplug the 2 connections and it works for a few weeks. Is there any reason other than the heating element or thermistor is dying slowing or intermittently working?
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Are there any signs of corrosion on connections? Even the slightest corrosion or rust can cause havoc.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders no signs of any corrosion, no signs of frayed wires it’s weird

Thanks for the reply & the next part to direct your attention to is your thermistor. It may need to be replaced.
DO NOT!!! I REPEAT...DO NOT REMOVE ALL OF THE WASHER MACHINE. TIP THE WASHER MACHINE ON ITS BACK AND THE ACCESS IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE WASHER MACHINE!! My wire came off of the terminal and I had to take the connecter out of the plastic terminal and re install the wire to the terminal. see this video. th-cam.com/video/vs82MZMJu9o/w-d-xo.html
No electrical testing or ohms rating? Useless

That was useless !
Wouldn't it be easier to tip it on its back?
