Followed the Instructions and my washer worked perfectly again. I had to buy the TE piece and replace it. Thank you so much for posting this video explaining step by step! My husband ordered another washer and now he has to cancel the order because the one I fixed hopefully will work some more years :) thanks again !!!

I was having trouble removing my element and you tapped the earth bolt with a hammer which no other video showed and that needs doing to release the tension on the rubber gasket.
Mine came our perfectly after that - so thank you 😊

Ok, this is it, my comment on the last video on the tE error code. I really like the way the information is presented, easy to follow instructions, well done filming the process, but …. I would leave a thumbs up (and I did for one video), but 6 videos to cover what could be shown in one video. Very easy to follow, well presented, but again, it should all be covered in one video, I don’t like having to find follow up videos … especially 5 of them. Don’t waste peoples time looking for the next vid, and watch an add before each one, just show it all at once. I don’t care if you throw extra adds in the one, I understand being monetize, you deserve to earn a little extra for your time and knowledge, but my time is worth money too.

My LG washer is entirely different! This fix only applies to some models. My machine is an F1247TD5 and uses an element mounted into the rear of the drum and requires far less effort to replace. Just a case of removing 4 screws to take off the rear panel which gives access to the heating element. It's a 5 minute job to replace and appears to use exactly the same element.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders thanks… looks like the leak was actually from a torn door seal toward the bottom… i wonder if the water leaking in this area was slowly creeping towards the thermistor/heating element which triggers a tE error code? Based on my observations, the tE code happens after the spin cycle and water has drained…

Probably a dumb question tho but I can see your floor tile underneath, can I not access and remove this element simply by placing the washer on it's side and getting at it from the open bottom. Just wondering as that whole door gasket thing is a pain. Or would that not be good for the machine to tip it on it's side? Thanks

Thanks for watching & it’s important to verify your removing correct element. Some machines have very similar elements on the top portion of the washer and can lead to confusion when locating the correct part.
The heating element is on the bottom as shown in this video. The element located on top in most cases is much harder to remove by design so you don’t remove it accidentally thinking it’s the lower heating element. The lower element should slide right out very conveniently. Hope the video helped.

Hi, is the original heating element made of copper, SS or ceramic?

Had technician out to check over machine and test everything. Turns out it was the element to be replaced. I was moving states so the technician was not able to install it. I watched this video to replace the element but still getting the te error code

I also wanted to add, to get to the element on my machine, I had to go through the back of the machine, not the front

Thanks for watching & sharing this. Hopefully your travels went well. The next part to replace is your Thermistor.

We are getting that error code, but we do not use hot water. We use cold water only. How can it be a faulty heating element?

Thanks for watching & it’s still in the background communicating with the control panel. Sounds like it’s in its early stages of failure. 😎👍

I just replaced the heating element and I still have the code. I have no idea what the problem could be.

I took out that heater element. And I found water inside, and residue, of dirt and old water. I'm guessing that's not normal. I don't even have access to clean in there. All I can think of is get a new one? Anyone has this problem? Let me know what the deal, thanks.

Thanks for watching. The next thing we recommend checking is the wiring that feeds into your thermistor. Verify no signs of stress such as overheating, melting, or frays...
If all looks good, you may have a faulty thermistor. Keep us posted. Please subscribe to the channel and Ring your TH-cam Bell 🛎 that would be awesome thanks again!

thermistor can be accessed by tipping the washer back and working from the bottom on an lg no need to take the washer apart
