Realistically modi imagery was always virtual in nature and content, only a creation of paid up big media. The Indian citizen has called his bluff inspite of state and muscle power.
To me also the whole thing seems flimsy and pumped up . Some part of media is definitely in pockets .. But I think some media persons truly believe in that imagery themselves to an extent at least . Saw Palki's Oxford speech and looks like she truly believed the new India narrative .
