You don’t even need to have line of sight on a tank to hit them, if they’re behind a Boulder on Golmud or behind a wall on Zavod it’ll lock onto them as it’s flying by and basically do a 90 degree turn into them and typically immobilize them. I seriously disagree about the AP shell vs sabot. Back from the symthic days (RIP 👏), we know that the slight buff to velocity is what gives the edge. That, and shooting just above the roof of an MBT for back-shot damage is much easier with the sabot. I will say, canister + AP is DISGUSTING on CQC maps. Second seat and HMG are to deal with infantry and help clean up vehicles you hit with the main gun. I really like the smoke due to breaking locks and preventing crit damage, and it has a much longer uptime due to the massive cooldown on APS. Once again, map dependant.
you think from wrong angle. in a tank its not your job to fight tanks, its your job to farm infantry. fighting tank reduces kpm, reduced kpm = less ticket loss for enemy and more map control. best you can do as a tanker is reduce enemy tickets around contestet flags, denying reinforcments, secure map control, help infantry secure point, move somewhere else, repeat. just keep enemy tanks at distance, and if they overextend kill em, while beeing in a favourable position (within your team) yourself, so you get the advantage when enemy tank forces a fight. AP and HMG is a versatile loadout for that
@@certaindeath7776 Your job as a tank driver is not to farm kills. A tank is one of the most valuable assets in the game, if you want to use it effectively, you cannot constantly run or hide from other tanks, you will have to take them out, before you try to farm infantry. Otherwise, if people play like this, they will not advance and lose the game by ticket bleed, unless the other team is simply incapable of objectively using their tanks. Basically, as soon as one tanker decides to end the circle jerk of tanks camping, farming and not engaging each other, you will be forced to play his game. And playing into someone else's gameplay is always a bad decision, if you are trying to win. It makes you rather predictable.
I honestly use Sabot for the better ballistics and faster projectile When I find myself on wide open maps like Op Firestorm I'm usually hitting tanks from the opposite ends of the highway, and when they shoot, their shells are slow enough for me to avoid Also keep in mind that, depending on the density of helicopters and their skill, it is very possible that you can 1 shot or 2 shot one with your Canister shells if you don't have much experience leading them with your main shot. Cheers from a tank try-hard, love your content
One area I think that is not talked about in BF is camo choices for corresponding maps. Snow camo with a nice worm pattern is pretty versatile on tanks and helis in multiple environments. That camo choice can sometimes gave you the edge you need to win. By remaining a little harder to see. Red patterns in snowy maps is a big example of what not to do. Snow White for helis in Shanghai maps is the bees knees. Dark urban for tanks and helis in Dawnbreaker etc.
I prefer the sabot shell because the main threat for me is air vehicles and sabot makes it easier to shoot down especially helis. AP is better than the sabot for infantry, but I usually am able to deal with infantry with the HMG, so I don't really need the AP. Quite often I choose the camo because it makes air vehicles to give you less attention. Often times I try to use the tanks long range capabilities to my advantage, stay out of areas where I can get attacked from several angles, but in looking into areas where lots of action is happening.
I love driving the tanks on BF4, I'm quit agressive too, go in Rambo style. Quit satisfying when you get the tank in the air and land going high speed. I'm pretty good as a tank driver and i also have the same load out. You mentioned about the HMG i'll give that a go next time about short bursts see if that will improve my accuracy. Thanks for the advice, thumbs up.
Present your armour(front armour facing biggest threat), angle armour (don't know if it does anything but it's engrained in me from WT and WOT), allot of RPGs can be dodged because of how crazy the acceleration is. In a tight situation, tank fight u can shoot, pop aps, jump out quick rep while aps is protecting you or shoot ur rpg at them and hop back in
I guess to each their own preference. I love to use the tank as an AA as well, so sabot shell's speed really does the trick when gunning down choppers and jets. Also if your aim is on point, sabot shell for 1 hit infantry kills from distance also work well. I never had any trouble fighting other armor with it either.
I use canisters alot. They one shot infantry at very long ranges, but the reason I use them is consistent heli and jet hits.. they will tear through heli's like butter and are very easy to hit.. give a try. Nice vid silk!!!
Very solid tips. I do think that for HC specifically, Sabot and LMG are a better choice than AP and HMG. Mostly because there is no passive health Regen for Infantry or vehicles. The velocity of the sabot makes it very easy to control engagement distances, and it's my opinion that baiting the enemy tank into missing a shot does more to help your relative dpm than doing a few extra points of DMG per shot, it's also MUCH easier to hit aircraft with the sabot. Difference of opinion aside, the best tip you gave here was about pillaring and baiting shots. If I could give only one tip to a new player in BF4, it would be that you should use cover in a tank just like you would as infantry, and that the less exposed you are the longer you'll live.
@@andrewhackney6286 Bro the game was 100% balanced around Normal and the playerbase for HC is like 10%. no one cares about hc. Its the reality of things. Btw the best hc loadout would be he and staff.
Play long range against infantry (Guided Launchers are not a common pick) ALWAYS place your front armor against your enemy. Know your playstyle: Are you going Anti Tank or supporting a friendly infantry push? You have a fast engine, try catching the enemy offguard.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the tips for airplanes in bf5 thank you so much I went to a stupid pilot to a good pilot. Respect. Also I'm pretty surprised that you are interact to much with your followers or subscribers keep up man!
Excellent video. You can be the best driver, but without reps you going nowhere. Gunner on main Canon' 6. Throw extra incendiary on heavy traffic corners to avoid flank. Basically I believe, without a good gunner, you're screwed. Hardest thing is-don't be afraid to retreat out of range; unless being rep during battle
I prefer to use Canister But it depends from the maps and environment around you.. if I'm playing on huge map such as Golmud.. i used Canister, if i play on Propaganda i used .50 CAL cuz close combat to avoid RPG,SMAW, even C4
I do love videos like these and always learn so much, so thanks Silk for that. However I've noticed players always like to give tips and tricks on using these vehicles fully loaded rather than how to start out and tips for gaining score and xp when the vehicle is level 0. Which I think would be really helpful to a bunch of people
What I did is get kills and XP as a passenger, that way driver still has geared out tank and you just get unlocks from the minigun/turret kills. Recently unlocked IRNV on tank and I've never driven a tank.
maybe its just me, but I see a little bit longer with irnv. And on for example Golmud, I gun almost only planes and helis between points. Uses soflam to stress them when/if they turn back. It doesnt give much kills at all, but helps the team alot sometimes.
and I always use smoke grenades when Im engineer. Instead of driver having to find cover for me to repair, it just sometimes saves us with some smokes around.
lmg + HE shell and eventually smokescreen on propaganda is so cool I'd recommend you try ;) Smokescreen spam to avoid getting immobilized and lmg+HE because it just shreds infantry on short range. Ennemy tanks not a problem since you will look for infantry engineers support anyway
Good video and tips but DUDE! You ran away from like 6 reppers! They will save your bacon, use them or they'll stop helping you cuz you just drive off every time.
How to tank.... sit back and rack up kills with the zoom view or abuse the op thermals if you need to get close. Then when you finally die, hop straight into another one like everyone else does because there's too many. Oh and decouple the turret makes driving much easier imo. Shit gets boring though just running around in a tank all the time. I wish more people did infantry only without humping a hill with a sniper rifle
There was a similar bug in bf3 that only appeared if you pressed the sprint key when your tank was hit on that spot, but I don't know if exactly the same thing in bf4
Tips to win every tank battle: have a gunner who helps you. It becomes 2vs1 and even as a mediocre tanker you will win over people who are much better but alone. Your gunner has to jump out to shoot rockets and repair. Even better, have a whole squad that is just focused on helping you and you will even win 1 tank vs 2 tanks. I've done my part of LAV play in BF4 and it helped me a lot to learn to drive blindly: on Siege I could drive backwards at full speed and make the corners with perfect timing without having to look behind me. So i could keep firing at the enemies in front of me while driving to safety at full speed. -> Hope they fix tank gameplay in BF6. My biggest problem is the repairing while being in a fight, it simply gives teams (tank + gunner) such a huge advantage that a tank playing alone stands no chance. I understand they want to promote teamplay, but frankly onyl a tiny part of players play as a team. So as soon as a half-decent squad appears they often dominate the server and wreck the balance. For tanks the solution would be simple, at least for BF5: make repairing a tank a cycle for a supprt players similar to how the tank self-repairs. You need to do the complete cycle to gain 20 health and if you get hit in between you start over. That way you cant have a tank camping anymore with 2 supprt players behind it and nobody being able to kill it.
When I first started playing bf4, many years ago, I was awful in tanks and thought they were so underpowered. After lots of experience, they are so good
Tanks are pretty busted. I always get frustrated with new tankers who are scared to push objectives, I guess they have PTSD from engineer ambushes. Gotta use the armor to win ultimately
personally i use sabot, canister, aps and thermal camo only as vet bf tanker, thats my loadout, and i hardly lose 1v1 or even 2v1 tank fights, and real bf tanker dont need a autoloader for a tank figts :)
@@SilkOCE I use thermal camo because a lot ppl (myself including) use thermal sights, and I had SO MANY tanks just pass right next to me or I flank them rly easy, ppl tend to tunnel vision hard with them thermal sights
A great fix for op thermal sights would be that only a narrow scope/sector of the whole vision would be "thermalised". Or just shorter range like IR sight. Or maybe it should be made slow to get ready. Or it should get blurry for a moment after your shots.
Does anyone check their maps in hard-core mode? Always always always reference your map or designate squad mates to calling out targets, while moving, hold the option button, and then tap R1 or L1, good way to see who's where on the map, squads are the way to go.
On Xbox it feels like war thunder tank fighting with the constant turning speed and everyone moving slow since everyone uses the joystick movement. So I just sit on a hill and shoot at planes and helis
Please try using the canister shell, been using it lately on Xbox and it’s pretty good despite the lack of precise shots. Would be insane to see you use it 💪🏽
Great video Silk! When it was released I thought it was a gimmick but after some use the hover tank has a special place in my heart. Learned how to use it and mastered it, outright deadly. Take down heli's and jets, infantry doesn't have a chance, gotta love the hover tank. As a trackball user I feel the trackball gave me a big advantage using the hover tank. As a master tanker If I wanted to really own a server I'd hop in an LAV equipped with tow and zuni's. Hell the mobile AA is a beast in the right hands, I preferred the 20mm and zuni's. I preferred the NV optics in vehicles for spotting mines and other explosives. I use smoke in all the vehicles - it takes you off the mini map and prevents you from being spotted for a brief period of time, works for my aggressive play style. What about tank ramming? When you are in a 1vs1 situation you can still win it even if you didn't shoot first. What you have to do is ram your tank at not full speed Into the front of the enemys tank and have a small hole infront of the tank or have the enemys tank stand in a small ledge which happens often. You will get under the enemys tank an he won't bei able to shoot you. You then just have to drive further into the tank and shoot all your shells Into the underside of the enemys tank while he is really confused because he can't move and shoot back. You also didn't mention angeling your tank when fighting with helicopters (also with ledges or holes) or using roofs for lock on and aircraft defence. Great Video and Gameplay!

I’ve been playing the tanks in this game for years. Great tips
Fair enough. This loadout is consistently used by the best players in 8v8 though with a few slight changes here and there (stealth Camo, reactive etc)
you think from wrong angle. in a tank its not your job to fight tanks, its your job to farm infantry. fighting tank reduces kpm, reduced kpm = less ticket loss for enemy and more map control. best you can do as a tanker is reduce enemy tickets around contestet flags, denying reinforcments, secure map control, help infantry secure point, move somewhere else, repeat. just keep enemy tanks at distance, and if they overextend kill em, while beeing in a favourable position (within your team) yourself, so you get the advantage when enemy tank forces a fight.
AP and HMG is a versatile loadout for that
@@certaindeath7776 This makes sense, at the same time, I just ptfo and kill everything, got a great gunner and sabot can take out Air support easily.
@@certaindeath7776 tanks are supossed to do both of those things in my opinion
I honestly use Sabot for the better ballistics and faster projectile
When I find myself on wide open maps like Op Firestorm I'm usually hitting tanks from the opposite ends of the highway, and when they shoot, their shells are slow enough for me to avoid
Also keep in mind that, depending on the density of helicopters and their skill, it is very possible that you can 1 shot or 2 shot one with your Canister shells if you don't have much experience leading them with your main shot.
I think this is the first sponsor that actually got my attention and will use thanks for letting me know about it!
Yeah that's definitely effective too
if helis are your problem then use AP and canister, canister absolutely shreds choppers and jets if you can hit them.
“With his advice and my idk” shit had me dead buddy.
In a tight situation, tank fight u can shoot, pop aps, jump out quick rep while aps is protecting you or shoot ur rpg at them and hop back in
Angling armor does in fact help. Shots landed not at 90 degree angles reduce the damage significantly.
A really useful tool is the range finder. It is located on the bottom of the screen and I use it like a sniper rifle.
5:58 sick drift mister
I want more people to do it on purpose, it's fun and if there's a tank on the other side you can get a rear shot with no chance of countering it
6:00 that drift cleaner than most highschool kids could do
No gamers were hammed in the making of this video... "physically" 😏
Mentally is a different story
silk the ultimate tank also the ultimate tank counter
The duality of man
@@SilkOCE we love the sponsor hopefully the partnership comes soon
I guess to each their own preference. I love to use the tank as an AA as well, so sabot shell's speed really does the trick when gunning down choppers and jets. Also if your aim is on point, sabot shell for 1 hit infantry kills from distance also work well. I never had any trouble fighting other armor with it either.
I use canisters alot. They one shot infantry at very long ranges, but the reason I use them is consistent heli and jet hits.. they will tear through heli's like butter and are very easy to hit.. give a try. Nice vid silk!!!
Yeah they're very good. I just can't get them to be consistent against infantry. Especially if you have a gunner though they're amazing
Ive always used sabot shells and love them
I only use them for big open maps, but most such maps aren't fun for me in the first place.
Silk road the only good map for it
@@iPlayOnSpica why big maps ?
@@squidy4082 AP Shell does the same damage but with wider blast radius, making it easier to use on infantry.
@@iPlayOnSpica so why is the sabot round even a thing
No one takes Hardcore seriously bro lmao
@@IlNamelessKinglI Plenty of people do. Simply because you don't like something doesn't mean that others don't.
@@andrewhackney6286 Bro the game was 100% balanced around Normal and the playerbase for HC is like 10%. no one cares about hc. Its the reality of things. Btw the best hc loadout would be he and staff.
Yeah pillaring is literally essential
Play long range against infantry (Guided Launchers are not a common pick)
ALWAYS place your front armor against your enemy.
I prefer to use Canister
But it depends from the maps and environment around you.. if I'm playing on huge map such as Golmud.. i used Canister, if i play on Propaganda i used .50 CAL cuz close combat to avoid RPG,SMAW, even C4

Grind time
I do love videos like these and always learn so much, so thanks Silk for that. However I've noticed players always like to give tips and tricks on using these vehicles fully loaded rather than how to start out and tips for gaining score and xp when the vehicle is level 0. Which I think would be really helpful to a bunch of people
just keep playing and level up
What I did is get kills and XP as a passenger, that way driver still has geared out tank and you just get unlocks from the minigun/turret kills. Recently unlocked IRNV on tank and I've never driven a tank.
Seeing the off season on ur play list 😍🤙🏾🙌🏾
Fireee
I can’t track very well using the HMG so if that’s the case for anyone else in here I highly recommend the canister shell
Yeah this is a really good point
maybe its just me, but I see a little bit longer with irnv.
Me: Playing in a tank
The entire enemy team: And I took that personally
your opening shoulda been “Hi my name is Silk, and welcome to my MasterClass.”
Canister shells are really good against helicopters. It does a pretty good amount of damage against them.
Good video and tips but DUDE! You ran away from like 6 reppers! They will save your bacon, use them or they'll stop helping you cuz you just drive off every time.
True
How to tank.... sit back and rack up kills with the zoom view or abuse the op thermals if you need to get close. Then when you finally die, hop straight into another one like everyone else does because there's too many.
Oh and decouple the turret makes driving much easier imo. Shit gets boring though just running around in a tank all the time. I wish more people did infantry only without humping a hill with a sniper rifle
There was a similar bug in bf3 that only appeared if you pressed the sprint key when
your tank was hit on that spot, but I don't know if exactly the same thing in bf4
Love vids like these!
The sabot round is awesome in hard-core!
Thanks for the info.
Ah now *this* is some of the tank farming i was commenting about on the most recent video
personally i use sabot, canister, aps and thermal camo only as vet bf tanker, thats my loadout, and i hardly lose 1v1 or even 2v1 tank fights, and real bf tanker dont need a autoloader for a tank figts :)
Autoloader comes in clutch tho! What load out do you use for the Lav?
Fair enough. I would argue that you don't need thermal camo as you can just unspot the tank whenever you want
Imagine someone breaking the Geneva convention by direct impacting you with a 120 mm armor piercing tank round
When I saw that you like j Cole I was about to sub but forgot that I already subed to you lol
Does anyone check their maps in hard-core mode? Always always always reference your map or designate squad mates to calling out targets, while moving, hold the option button, and then tap R1 or L1, good way to see who's where on the map, squads are the way to go.
May you upload videos in how to properly fly attack jets on battlefield 4 on Xbox one?
I don't have an Xbox sorry
HMG really feels like the most powerful thing you can mount into a tank.
The one thing you might want to always do as a BF4 tanker is never go in without infantry or any kind of external support.
What recording software do you use, your quality is really good
Obs. Settings are pretty much 1440p, cqp14, max quality
@@SilkOCE whats your pc specs like?
On Xbox it feels like war thunder tank fighting with the constant turning speed and everyone moving slow since everyone uses the joystick movement.
So I just sit on a hill and shoot at planes and helis
That clip in the beginning is so lucky. 15 times our of 20 you get C4'd immediately
Please try using the canister shell, been using it lately on Xbox and it’s pretty good despite the lack of precise shots. Would be insane to see you use it 💪🏽
Been watching ur channel for sometime and forgetting to sub .. i just did love the content and looking for ur next battlefield gameplay

Thermal is a must for the tank and chopper gunner
Only thing u can add is switching to the gunner seat. Maybe watch some vids of calzaghe as he's one of the BEST
Yeah thats something I've started doing. Definitely recommend Calzaghe though he's amazing
Get a mate with soflam in the gunner and guided shells as your secondary and kill all he hellish and tanks. It 2 shots a tank. Super op
You know my Raleigh boy J Cole hits different
This looks like a challenge...Silk 1v1 me brah.
no tanks no jets no guns.
Just you vs me and some amazing mid air kicks.
You're on m8
The heat sensor is OP
Surely you make a video about the attack boats next. They were good fun too.
The glitch shot shhhhhhh lmao
I mean, its very hard to do and its a bit different on all 3 tanks. He never used it in the video because its hard to pull it off unless the enemy is litterally still in front of you
@@IlNamelessKinglI yeah that's true the Abram's is almost impossible to hit it on just cause the top is so flat but as silk said just turn on an angle most decent tanks mains will race you on a 45 half the time
Hahaha very op
Thanks for the greast tips
No problem!
I'll love to see pro chopper vs pro tanker/boater double vision.
Maybe soon
Is it worth talking about laser guided and gunner soflam for big maps like golmud etc.
Nah not worth at all imo
