    I feel you Matt. My dad always out fished me. I told him he put me at the wrong end of the boat, again! Lol. He loved to fish and so do I. Wished he was still here. Enjoy every minute with your dad, mom and brother.

    Great teamwork -- efficient but not hectic. Your style of take what you need and leave the rest can be watched without the uneasy feeling one gets upon seeing huge nets being winched aboard a great floating processing plant, filled tight with everything from small fish to non-target species, dead or close to death and no chance of recovery even if thrown back.😊👍

    It sure was nice to see all of you, Mom, Dad, Tristen, & Matt! Once back to unload, did you notice anything lurking in the water behind Matt? It was like a blob. I thought it was interesting about how they could tell the age of the fish. Hope each of you have been well, looking forward to your next fishing trip. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your week.

    We have seen this one a couple times wonderfull thank you. Are rock fish considered mild flavor? They just don’t lol like it. But we have eaten some marvelous cat fish and they don’t look like they are good at all.

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are pretty mild, a very easy type of fish to cook with.

  • @jimwetterman1204
    @jimwetterman1204 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would it not be less back breaking work on unloading your catch if you use a couple of gaffs with long handles to grab the fish instead of your hands. I think as you get really fast at it this may save the back a little. I'm sure your hands get really cold during this process as well. What about a long chain stringer you hook the fish as you place each fish in the hold hooked to the stringer and as you pull up the stringer you remove the fish from the hold one below the other. There has to be an easier way. Hard work is fun I suppose. I enjoy your video's. Wish I could go fishing with you guys. I live in South Carolina high and dry.

    I think that big holding chest holds about 4600lbs of Rockfish? Hey "T," you do a magnificent job of working around those other Cod Catchers without getting snagged! Awesome skills. When and if you have a minute could someone explain the reason you keep the species. Of Rockfish divided once they are being unloaded, does the quota have anything to do with either?

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The main holds packs 5000# rockfish which happens to be our trip limit.. The reason we separate the species is for reporting purposes. All fish get weighed and reported on a fish ticket so they can be managed within the quota. Separating the dark and dusky rockfish from the black rockfish (our target species) makes offloads easier and also helps us gauge the total pounds of black rockfish onboard.

    I think T would benefit if he had a strap that went around his head to keep his glasses from always falling off his eyes. He constantly has to push his glasses back up which is a pain to him and also slows his productivity..

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi strawcarpenter! Black rockfish was our target species. A little shy of our trip limit, about 4800#.

    • @strawcarpenter9559
      @strawcarpenter9559 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EISAlaska Nice! It looks like you could add a couple more jigging rigs to keep Tristan busy 😉.

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We will add a few more on the Emerald Isle (6 machines is the limit), but 4 is optimal on the Fish Tale as they tangle if they are too close.

    Ha! I was just about ready to make the same comment about the net in the hold. How about a bucket on a spring pole to help lift the fish out? I'd sure think of something.

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  ปีที่แล้ว

      We get that comment a lot! A net in the hold would get hung up on the overhangs and make lifting out hard. They are also very hard to clean and sanitize. Offloading goes quite quickly. About 45- 60 minutes to offload.

    • @anderspettersson2958
      @anderspettersson2958 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Norway, even small scale coastal fishermen use a container system in their hold. No problem with cleaning or snagging, just hook it to the crane and up it goes. No problems with icing the fish either.

    HUM, PIienso que si colocais una tobera aspiradora, cuyo diametro fuera minimo 15 cm. Y lo absorbido cayera en una en la red de la grua, el hielo se colaria hacia el agua, quedando el pescado retenido por la propia red, cuando esta estuviera llena, se cambiaria por otra, con el mismo sistema
