    I'm an old rider and I still prefer chrome trim, which I think is cool and still old school. I thought it would have made common sense from Harley to have all the bikes in a choice of chrome or black. Not everybody prefers black and there's so many of them on the road now. A car dealership doesn't have just black cars available. I think Harley is shooting themselves in the foot with that thinking. Also love the colour 'mystic shift', like a pearl with metal flake in the paint, but for my taste, I would like that on a Street Glide and I'd rather build my own touring package. That's my 2 cents and Happy New Year Ryan.

    It's rare to see a company work so hard to go out of business. Leave it to a foreigner to have no idea who Harley Davidson's core customers are (were....)

  • @larrywilson7933

    I agree Ryan, Harley-Davidson has been behind on many styling changes for years. I too believe they should have added chrome as an option for the Road King Special. Also, they still aren’t putting LED lights on all models and my biggest gripe of all is not putting chrome lower forks on chrome trim bikes. I’m a chrome guy and have never understood why they don’t do that. If you get a black trimmed bike the lower forks are nice and finished to match, but not on a chrome bike. They still put that cheap dull looking crap lower forks on there. Sometimes H-D sucks big time, but that’s to be expected when a motorcycle company with the history of Harley-Davidson is being run by people that aren’t even bikers. Harley has lasted and become the major brand they have because of the people that built it. Now you have a CEO that has his claim to fame as a shoe company CEO and a board made up of people that don’t even ride motorcycles.
    Thanks for putting out great videos, especially your documentary films! ✌🏼

      you're right about the forks. if you have a chromed trimmed touring bike, it just looks dorky leaving the front end without. especially if you have an upgraded dresser like a special or an ultra. come on Harley.

      @@davebrake It’s bothered me ever since they started the blacked out look and they have nice matching clean looking forks. I’ve got a ‘21 Road Glide Special and it’s going to cost me several hundreds of dollars to get them in chrome, but I won’t buy them from Harley!

    I also think if they basically just had a ‘build as you like’ on all bikes on their website it would sell more bikes. That way you could build from base to CVO and pick the colours you want

    Chrome bikes are classic, but I am too lazy to keep the chrome clean; hence, I own a blacked out Harley Street Bob. Price increases suck! The biggest complaint is the charge for the upgraded paint scheme-they look nice but are they worth it?

    No wonder dealerships are closing in the UK. My current bike is a 2019 model black painted Ultra Limited, bought a year ago with 29K miles on it for £13.750. In great condition for its age.
    Last year did a 4K mile ride to the EU as far as the Czech Rep and Poland.
    This years schedule is Portugal, Spain and France for six weeks. Arthritis loves warm climates.
    Most of the servicing is simple enough but, may take it to an indie dealer to have some mechanical work checks done, just to keep them in work.

    I purchased my first bagger back in 2002. It was a carburetor model, not fuel injection. The fuel injection model was $500.00 more. It was a vivid black Electric Glide. Back then there was a standard, no radio or tour pack. Basically a street glide before they announced it, was $17995.00. Then the Electric Glide , radio and tour pack. It cost was $18995.00. Lastly the Electric Glide Ultra. the lowers were added. $19995.00. Now I have had several in-between, but I purchased my first Road Glide in 2015 in Amber Whiskey. I blacked it all out. The first time I didn't have chrome. In 2017 I purchased a Superior Blue. I chromed the heck out of it. Now in 2024 I purchased a Road Glide in Whiskey Fire, for $24995.00 and it is blacked out. I think certain colors just stand out more black then chrome, and vise a versa. Like you said in the video prices will always go up on the norm, however if you look back at 2002 when I paid $18995.00 to 2024 when i paid $24995.00, it's only $6000.00 difference. You have to look at what I got in technology as well as safety over the years. Small price, don't you think. Compare that to automobiles and housing, how they have gone up over the years. Just sayin

    I think HD is trying to move in the direction that it is known for in other countries, a premium brand that only the top earning class can afford, sad because that is not what makes us love the brand. If you go to a Harley dealer in any country in South America, or Europe it is extremely expensive. Only CEO's roll on a HD there. A 2K$ mark up + a 2900 for the firestorm paint + 1350 black trim + the freight was raised 200$ + (RDRS??? on the road king its still 1100) Ugly wheels, no inverted forks, crappy speakers, basic seat, no heated grips and a Crappy matt black inner fairing that EVERYONE WANTS TO PAINT. WTF??? You would think the upgraded paint would include the inner fairing, but no...

      Absolutely. You will have those people willing to piece together a full on loaded touring bike but many will not. What would resale be on a cobbled together touring bike? On Saturday I traded in a 2020 Street Glide with a color matched, lighted tour pack with speakers. Dealer didn't want to give me anything extra for that, said the book value is the book value. So good luck making the numbers work long term on cobbled together loaded touring bikes made from a basic Street Glide or Road Glide.
      Harley is so crafty at coming up with ways to trick people into spending more these days, like trying to make CVO's more mainstream by giving them features everyone wants but forcing the high price tag on us. Maybe the new "Ultra" will be a special "CVO" model that costs a fortune, if you want a loaded touring bike. More market share lost. Out of touch.

      I have not had any word. My belief is nothing will change with the 25' FLHTP. The last line to ever change anything. They've certainly got much stock of FLHTP with the Rushmore fairing. Plus the new IFCU infotainment dash is in the way of police radios and equipment. And you can't have a new bike without that system. It controls everything. I think it will take time to work that out on the FLHTP. Just my thoughts. I certainly could be wrong.

    • @rebauto
      @rebauto 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @RyanUrlacher yeah, figured they have plenty of leftover Rushmore fairings and you're right, the P models are the last to update since they're able to use up old parts on them. Was just holding out hope they would at least upgrade to the 117... Not that there's anything wrong with the 114, heck, I'm still on a 2016 FLHP with a 103, so the 114 will be an upgrade regardless.

    I thought last year was a pretty big price drop considering what you got, like the RDS, 117 engine etc. Its a reason there are still so many '23 models still in the showroom. They want more for the 23 than the new 24.
    With this price increase, I think it will help clear out the '24s.
    I plan to be in the market this year, and won't matter if its a 23 or 24 since they are the same. But, hope they got the Skyline electronic bugs figured out.

    Based upon that ominous photo we might see a new Lowrider / Lowrider ST with a high output 117 and new electronics. You can see the TFT from the Sportster S and RevMax Controls on that photo.
    So maybe all other 2025 Softail models might come with the 117 as standard.
    I feel we won"t see the Sport Glide again. Maybe a new Superglide Sport / T-Sport ?
    And the RevMaxes?
    Here in Germany and in Europe in general the by far most "successful" (half decent sales numbers) model is the Sportster S. The PanAm is liked, what the people buy are GSes and V4 Multistradas. PanAm sales dropped 70% from 22 to 23 alone, the 24 numbers might be even more devastating.
    The Nightster was ignored completely right from the start. Harley Davidson is a part of German automotive history. The Evo Sporties were and still are extremly loved, the 48 and Iron 883 held top 20 spots in the overall sales numbers basically as long as they existed.
    Apart from that Germany is all about naked bikes (and Adventure Bikes), so when HD cut the Evo Sportster and witheld the Bronx the Nightster felt like a slap in the face.
    But I see potential for a CVO Sportster S. With the 150 hp high output RevMax and upraded suspension & brakes.

    I feel like we will see a 2025 RoadKing upgrade with a 117 ( or 121)? Just my thoughts
    I think from a business perspective, it would save Harley $$ to stop the ultras and just al cart and upgrade.

    I like the blacked out look. I have the low rider s, looks meaner and more aggressive all blacked out. Your more classic style bikes, I get it, people like the chrome. Although I do like the heritage blacked out as well, especially with that gold color they came out with a year ago. Looked sharp with it blacked out

    • @1Steson
      @1Steson 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The thing I like about blacked out bikes is their back to basics, no bling / all business look. Looks like it's about putting on miles, not shining in the sun. Like a work truck, all business. Which is fundamentally opposite from the current Harley way, they charge extra for black as if it was more deluxe, more exclusive, more expensive. Black HAS to be less expensive to produce than chrome, right? WTH is up with charging a premium for it, it's like blatantly screwing us over with no shame whatsoever. There should be a deduct for black. They're still going to sell both, but blacked out bikes should be cheaper.

    • @hdlowrider1903
      @hdlowrider1903 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @1Steson absolutely agree with you. Just like in 2023 they charged extra for abs on low rider s, that was standard on the years before. Claiming there was a shortage of parts. Well if that's the case, then the price should be lower on the 23 for no abs then the price on 22 that came with abs

    The fact the road king has not got the 117 motor is a joke. I agree with you about the chrome. I ride a 2012 RKC and love it. I’ve had 88,96,103, and 114 motors. Went back to the twin cam. My opinion is the twin cam sounds more like a Harley. About the price increase- Harley has been out pricing their base for years. They turned their back on the people who made the company- blue collar hard working USA.

I am fortunate enough with shed space and enough $ to have a second bike - my second bike has been a 20 Street Glide Special that I just traded for a '24 Street Glide. That will be my "run around" short rides / errands bike but the top bike in my shed for comfort and looks is still going to be the '15 Ultra unless that new bike is really, really special somehow.

    With all Harleys latest troubles with the company, the price increases will hurt them even further. I wouldn't even consider buying a street or road glide for 1700 more with virtually no changes. Last year's price made me consider it but now, forget it. I'll keep my 2020 for another 10 years and buy used after that.

Some of the paint options are also ridiculous, having to pay for black now…come on Harley, it does not cost you nearly 3k for a paint job so why try and rape your customers again. Chrome for the Road King ? Of course, but this is the too cool Road King Special, for me this was never the actual Road King, because lacking other Road King features as well (detail : my first new H-D was the first 1994 Road King in "blue", currently own the 2013 Anniversary, also from new).
    Indeed the other color options should be available for the chrome trim as well.
    Road Glide increases more because it is the most popular now. Typical Harley strategy since the times when the Heritage Classic was the most popular, but relatively expensive for what you got.
    Now there is no "Touring Package" for 2025 (in 2024 : Long Haul Package) available (yet?) in the builder on the website, maybe per Jan 23rd, otherwise new complete Limited models in new outfit, maybe even as a new CVO.

    Harley needs to look at what’s happening with the car market. If they keep raising their prices with no improvements they are going to lose market share. Most Harley folks are middle class working Americans. They will lose sales because it. Folks can only afford what they can afford. I would love new bike but I can’t afford one now.

    Looks like all they want is more money for nothing more in return. The biggest "dick move" they made was charging more for black last year. Inflation is a thing, but all they've been doing is cutting corners to cut cost and raising prices. Add that to the "motorcycle phenomenon" of dealers never taking less than MSRP on new and wanting MSRP on used, is a unique situation due to the fact that a motorcycle is considered a luxury item which also raises the cost of financing. Guess that's just the way it is for a "want" vs a necessity.
