As usual, I will be completely honest with you and will tell you that this jacket was sent to me for free in exchange for a detailed video review on my channel. Maybe in this point, some of you will say - Aha, he sold his opinion, if you are one of those people - fair enough, I cannot tell you in what you prefer to believe, but if you already know me and followed me in the last few years, you will know that I used Rev’it riding gear in the last three years.
I had Rev’it Poseidon GTX and I rode it in all possible conditions, road, off-road, mud, rain, even snow. I tested the model on temperatures from minus 12 to plus 46 degrees. I talked a lot about it and even made a video review.
Based on my experience with the brand I was more than happy when the guys from Rev’it told me that they will send it to me for free. Actually, I don’t need to convince them at all, because the person I was communicate was already my subscriber. All right, enough talks let’s focus on the gear. The first point I am going to talk about is functionality:
As I told you I owned the Poseidon model which is like a good introduction or the base of the Dominator. In my Poseidon jacket for the first time, I saw these large ventilation pockets, with attachable magnets and this was actually what sold me out. With the combination with the exhaust pocket on the back, the jacket provide an excellent ventilation, allowed me to ride it even in a very hot day.
In the Poseidon I had 6 vents in the front and one large on the back, but on the Dominator we have 8 on the front side and two large on the back. What it interesting is that the one single pocket I had on the Poseidon was almost completely closed from my hydration pack, which is not a problem with the Dominator, because they moved the pockets on the side.
The second improvement they did was with these sliding adjustable straps. On the Poseidon they were different design, without the possibility to slide it and honestly they were not really useful for me. I never really like the way the jacket was designed. I had an impression that the jacket was made for people with tight shoulders and big asses. In my case I need to buy the larger option they had, which is XYL, which is something like triple XXXL. Fair enough, it was good on my shoulders, but to big on the bottom part and because of the not so well working adjustable straps I had the shape I already told you. With the new Dominator they change the design and now I can have XXL without any problems. Also they add these zippers here on the bottom to fix this problem if you have it.

Great review Pavlin, I have had the Rev’it Dominator GTX suit for 18 months. Excellent suit, great ventilation and weather proof, great function and stylish. Down sides, stiff when new, takes along time to break in, and the euro fit means it’s a snug fit (so if your on the large size, your need to buy a larger size than you would normally.
Overall, I really like mine.

Spot on Paul. I’ve had mine for over 2 years and it’s the best jacket I’ve owned in over 45 years of riding. It is the best looking jacket I have owned and it is 100% waterproof. I have ridden through 4 hours of heavy rain and not a drop got through. It has good armour and reasonable ventilation, I have been reasonably comfortable in temps up to the low 30’s. Agree with you, it is very stiff and that doesn’t change much and it is heavy to carry but that disappears when it is on. It also has a useful kidney belt. I bought mine from a dealer n Luxemberg would you believe. You are also spot on re the fit. It is a slim design, not like the baggy Klim etc jackets. I am 71 kg with long arms and I bought the XL even though the fitting charts recommended a L size. Another warning, due to it being a slim fit, when it is cold you need to wear warm gear underneath it as it has no zip in liner. If I had to buy a new one I would get the XXL to provide a bit more room for say a down jacket.
Glad to see you got a free jacket, about time ! - so where/when is your "free T700" coming to match it? Pavlan what is/was your Gore-tex® washing plan? Have you factored in the long term costs to riders when ONLY using REVit brand Textile liquid cleaner according to their "wash frequently" care instructions? did they throw in regular free Revit cleaning liquid haha (AU$35+$10shipping = so that's $45 for 250ml) or are you going to find/recommend a cheaper/realistic alternative safe liquid (as normal laundry washing power is damaging to all Gore-tex®) - Maintenance is part of owning flash gear and surprised left this out (or maybe I missed it?)

I have the cheaper more warm weather oriented little brother of this, the Defender GTX. It is my 1st motorcycle clothing that I have ever had so I can't compare it to anything else but I love it :)
One very important point is that the Goretex is in the outside of the jacket. This is the only way to be completely waterproof. Most of the other jackets have a zip in goretex liner, which in my opinion is useless as the outer layer gets soaked and water can run down the inside of the outer layer into your gloves. Also, if the outside is soaked, the high speed wind on the wet fabric acts as a coolant on your skin. I have an old BMW jacket with the internal goretex liner and it is a disaster in the wet.

its not a Disaster. First its still a protection for a while and second: put your raingear on in time! Doesn't matter which Goretex you have, after a riding day in the rain, they all need to dry anyway. I wouldn't do too much science on a textile jacket. Just have your raingear with you if you're on a longer trip.
Totally agree! I ride...another ride..snowboard and a good Gore-Tex shell will keep you dry all day on a snowy or rainy day on the slopes. Burton Snowboards sells those shells which I use (shell only --no liners..nooothing...simple waterproof zippers--4 max, no fancy air vents...shell only) for $700 to $800)...with lift tickets at $100+ you want to enjoy your ride..in all weather conditions. I apply the same principal to my bike ride...quality/comfort time on the saddle makes for the best experience. I went for the Sand 3..as I'm just a parking lot rider...when not on the hill snowboarding! Thx Mr. Pavlin, excellent review!! JP, Canada
Fair point but if you wear an airbag in summer, despite the ventilation and the properties of the goretex, it is not enough in summer

Pavlin, everything you said is spot on. There is no question that your review is 100% fair and unbiased, based on my 2 years+ ownership of this jacket. Re the cost, I paid about $1200 AUD for mine but my previous 2 jackets cost about $1500 and they both leaked terribly in the end and were useless in the end. You get what you pay for. Re the cost, how much do some riders pay EVERY year for tyres? Compare that to the say 10 years + life you will get from a quality jacket!

I’m a big RevIt fan. I bought a Sand 3 jacket for a big trip this year and it’s been excellent. 100% waterproof, very comfortable, CE2, looks great and affordable. The only downside - the drop layers are a bit of a pain. Wish I’d paid extra for a laminate.
I confirm the quality at 100%.
Very honest review, as always Pavlin. It's very similar to my BMW Enduro 2 suit from 2004! I still prefer to wear it, rather than my newer BMW equivalent. As you stated, you get what you pay for and £1200 for a BMW riding suit would seem excessive BUT, it's still waterproof, none of the zips have failed and it's done best part of 100K miles. Quality is free. Buy cheap, ride cheap.
Interesting enough this video got me to look at some other Revit gear and I have now ordered a Sand 3 suit. I think it will suit me better the way I ride and where I ride and it was a lot cheaper at 625 Euro for Jacket and trousers. Also get's very good reviews. Thanks for putting me on that trail Pavlin!

Rev'it is an awesome brand although sometimes a bit expensive. I have 2 jackets (Excalibur and Eclipse) and 2 pants (Airwave 2 and Orlando jeans). None have failed me for 4 years of almost everyday abuse. I plan to buy Poseidon 2 just because of your videos Pavlin, there can be no better recommendation! I would like to buy Dominator gear but it's just too damn expensive, although what you get for the money is really the best there is! Good luck with the jacket and pants Pavlin, may they serve you for many years to come. :)

I’m love revit gear and I own several pieces. They look great and you get what you pay for.
Right now for second year I’m using for traveling a klim kodiak jacket and pants and I really couldn’t ask for more. But almost all my other gear is revit. Including other jackets and pants gloves and boots.
What I wanted to say is about the zippers. I think they don’t have extension the top ones on the jacket cause it would hit the helmet while riding or your throat.
There is no other explanation and there is no way they didn’t think about it.
My trip starts after tomorrow and first country to visit will be Bulgaria 😎

No, it will be okay. The zippers are way lower. Also from Revit think about it and they might change it in the future.
Nice detailed review Pavlin. I am a Revit user (Cayenne Pro and Offtrack) but my opinion is that the Dominator is too expensive when you compare it with the rivals in the high range like Klim Badlands Pro or Rukka Armas. In comparison, they offer much better finishing (actually you can see a loose thread hanging at @11:36) and full use of premium materials everywhere compared to the Revit which uses only in some points. Revit wins on the fitting and aesthetics though.

Most of the top of the line gear is very expensive but in the long run they are worth the money, it is just the original sticker price that turns people off, but if you take into account the quality and longevity you get it becomes good value.
Cheaper jackets and pants are good for what they are but do not last as long so you have to replace them more often, so when you add up the cost a good quality item is actually cheaper in the long run.
The biggest problem I always have is never the jacket but the pants, the crutch of the pants is always the first thing to leak because it seems to get the toughest workout, getting off and on the bike and rubbing on the seat, not to mention sitting in a pool of water when it rains, it would maybe a good idea if manufacturers made the crutch area 2 layers for added protection.
I agree with what you just said. It is great investment, especially if you spend many hours on the saddle. I also understand that for weekend ridiers it is not going to be the right choice.
Agree about the seam losing water resistance in years. Seen on most of my gear and even the specialy dedicated one pirce rain suits. They all leak at pant inseam
I Love my Rev'it (Tornado 2 and Sand 2). Before Revi'it I ride with Dainese, but for me now is Rev'it much more comfortable.

Nicely done. Nice jacket too. On thing they "may" have gotten wrong is that the main zipper should have full length Velcro. I have 2 near identical suits and in cross wind torrential downpours the full Velcro zipper suit performance is slightly better. Also, Tech-wash and nikwax annually. Revit and aerostich are my preferred brands.

White jacket... go for the other options :-P I have not tried the Revit suit yet, but i think this is the one that can kick KLIM of the trone! I am very happy with my Klim Badland, it has been the best suit out there in my opinion, but now the competition is closing in :-D Great Review

@@REVITsport I know, I was considering your suit when i buy the Klim Badland suit, but there was no store in Bergen, Norway who had it in stock and avalible for trying. Revit are one of the top pick when i will change my suit. I also looked at the MoskoMoto lineup. Cheers :-)
Great once more, you put the seed in my head about expensive goretex jackets, I decided on a klim, not as fussy, but high quality also, hope it performs well into the future

at this price point id choose Klim but then again, i wouldnt pay $2k for riding suit
And he admits the fit isn't that great. Lots of zippers and vents, so it costs a paycheck? No. These companies just HOSE bikers.
The price might be considered high, but the price to pay, sliding on the tarmac without proper gear is much higher if you ask me, so no, the price is not high, if the gear deliver as it is ment to do.
I myself was involved in two accidents with my bike and I wore RUKKA both times. RUKKA is not the cheapest brand on the market either, but it saved my much appreciated skin.
@@mr.t5610 i don't think that a 1000 EUR textile jacket will be much different to a 500 EUR textile jacket. there is no magic innovations in resistance with sliding etc....it just became all lighter like Ski Equipment....for 1000 EUR I would choose leather instead.
Excellent review, Im looking to get back into riding and looking at adventure/dual sport bikes and this jacket seems like a great choice. I used the pocket for the back protection to put mu hydration bladder in. It worked pretty well, its not ideal but its ok.
I’ve had this jacket for a while now. It’s a really good one. I feel very protected in it. The cons: the
Velcro around the wrist cuffs got worn out. Also the rivet to close the front pockets are no longer flush with the jacket and they annoyingly cut my fingers when I use them. And finally the material on the pocket is getting worn out.

I have this set and it is very good and well worth the money. I rode 8 hours in pouring in rain on one trip and it didn’t leak at all. The only negatives that you did not mention is that the jacket is quite heavy as it is so robust and also the white is hard to keep clean. I invested in it for exactly the reason you stated - you will get through 3 or 4 sets of cheap gear to just the one. You get what you pay for. Best vented jacket I have had as well.

Well, a good gear is like a good investment. In normal riding conditions it would last many years.

Yes, very expensive. You are right, two or three less technical jackets are almost the same price than this one and finally without its functionality. I do not understand why people can spend 15k€ to 20k€ in a motorbike and then complain for only one thenth of this price for a proper gear which could save their life.
By the way, what do you think of the Klim Badland jacket which is the nearest competitor ?

Once again, great review with loads of USEFUL information! I wish Rev'it would do their videos as you do yours - instead of showing bikes, landscapes, and pretty people in 4K ;-) Would you mind a brief thought on the differences between the Dominator and your Poseidon? I am ready to get one of these (or perhaps the Sand) but it's hard to tell the difference between the adventure styles they have on their website. In my opinion, they should send you every new model - LOL - oh, and there does not seem to be a dealer that actually CARRIES a decent selection. Guess I have to order through your Amazon link - HAHA - Pavlin, care to share your size, weight and height?
Thanks, Robert! Posedon is made from two layers Gore-tex, Dominator is made from 3 layers. Posedon has warm linings, Dominator don't. More vents on the Dominator, better materials on the shoulder and elbows. Pants has nice stretching material above the knee. In overall both models are great and will work just fine in any conditions. The Dominator is one level better. The size and high are very well described in size chart on their website.
I have the last version of this jacket. Excellent jacket to say the least! I've lost 40 pounds of weight this summer and now it is way too big! I may have to start saving to buy this! I like the changes they made to the vents. They obviously try to improve the design. As far as the liner goes that's no big deal. Heated jacket is the way to go! Controlled levels of heat and they are not as bulky.
I agree that a heated jacket is a great option for the cold days, but because I ride in extremely low temperatures very rare it is not something I will focus on.
@@motorcycleadventures I live in the Rocky Mountains in the US. Never know what to expect out here! Heck it's snowing like crazy here now! Even during the middle of the summer I have been snowed on! Some of the passes are over 10,000 above sea level. I always bring winter gear even during the summer! Great channel 👍

Just to add, for someone who advocates not spending more than you need to on kit, I am trying to see the justification for the price, in comparison with other leading brands and price points. While I admit the kit does look great, our tastes do change and it's good to buy new stuff now and then.This was not easy for you avoid coming across as a Rev"it salesman Pavlin. My respect for your work, professionalism and opinion, puts you above that. The one thing missing however was the 30% discount code, unless I just missed it!
As I said Ray, the model I used Poseidon, worth the money, but also agree that you can travel with way cheaper gear.

The jacket & pants look great now. But when the bugs start splattering in one week it will look like you’ve have gone through a blood bath. It’s best to have a dark colour with a hi viz vest and a hi viz helmet. But it is a nice looking suit right now. Thanks ride safe. Cheers 🇨🇦

Since I can't seem to find this information anywhere and maybe I am not the only one looking for an answer, maybe this is a good idea for a future video. In other words, what I am interested in is how the protectors are fitted in the jackets and pants. Most budget gear has velcro secured pockets for the protectors, but I am wondering if there are any models using a zip instead. Given I wash my gear pretty often, it has become a pain to remove and re-insert the protectors and the velcro starts to come apart.

The pockets are the same size as the protection. They do have velcro, but no problem to have them out or in.
Great review Pavlin. From rider to riders as it should be. Now some questions:
1. You mentioned that you tested this in very cold weather. What mid-layer did you use during that time, since the jacket doesn't have one included (which sadly puts me off greatly but I am still considering the jacket)? Did you use thermal base layers as well?
2. Do you know if Rev'it!'s mid-layers can zip to the jacket for permanent attachment?
3. What about the zippers in the front low pockets. Are they easy to work with? You didn't mention it in the video.

I used one of their midlayers. It is like normal jacket and you cannot zip it. The zips are easy to use.

I bought 6 "cheap" Jackets, for summer, autum, spring and winter and spent roundabout 900 Euros and wish I had one jacket for all seasons like the Revit
Exactly what I did before I got the REV'IT!
Bin nicht immer deiner Meinung aber dieser Test der Jacke war richtig aufschlussreich. 10x besser als sämtliche Tests der 1000PS Affen und ähnliche.
Was denkt du über die Jacke bei 30 Grad und höheren Temperaturen?
Man fährt ja nicht immer schnell, steht im Stau, hat Pannen etc. Da bringt eine Be- und Entlüftung ja nicht viel.
Ich habe Angst in so einer Plastikjacke überzukochen und überlege eine Jacke von Revit (zb Neptune) mit einem Goretexfutter zum herausnehmen zu kaufen.
Habe eine größere Reise mit allen Wetterlagen vor.
Irgendwie bist du der Einzige der weiss wovon er spricht. Die meisten labern alles nur nach oder haben ihr Wissen aus dem Internet.

Camel bag is possible on the Rallye BMW jacket, not only in Klim as you say. Very expensive this Dominator GTX and not available in 5XL for example
. Looks like a good bit of kit. And at that price it should be, haha! But no matter how good it is, or how long the guarantee is there's no way I'd pay that much money even if had it. That's an outfit for someone who's just spent twenty odd grand on the latest biggest BMW GS. That's the market Rev'it are aiming at with this jacket and trouser combo. Nice bit of kit but way, way, way out of the pocket of your average rider. Thanks for the honest review though, Pavlin. Cheers
Well...as I said I do believe that this is a good investment and I am not a GS rider!
Rev'it actually has less expensive stuff. I ride a GS and I don't have Dominator, I have two Rev'it jackets that are $350 combined. It depends how big of a pocket you have. I will buy Poseidon 2, but not because it's expensive but because it is really good gear that lasts a long time, I'm talking years! But as Pavlin always says, buy whatever you like, ride whatever you like. :)
@@markosrides exactly Marko, buy whatever you like. And I know Rev'it do cheaper stuff. I still maintain your average rider isn't going to spend 1700/1800 on a jacket/trouser combo.

If you mean to soak with water, yes it does and you start to feel the cold, but inside you stay dry.
Great review Pavlin. I thought I had good gear (Sedici) That ensemble has great features. Much better from what I see. How is it to add, remove the pants with boots on? Or is that even possible?
It depends on the boots. Not with Sidi. It might work if you have thin travel boots.
Some of riders said that they haven't already pay as much for their bikes. Just consider - whom you love more - your bike of your-self.. .
How much many bikers spent to protect their bikes against mechanical damage (engine guards, crash bars, handlebar protectors, unbreakable levers and many others), and against thieves (disc locks, alarms, expensive insurances), and against bad storing conditions (motorcycle covers or even garage which is being permanently payed as monthly fee..).
Think just to consider.

Hi Pavlin! Nice Goretex Gear! I am in the market for the high quality goretex gear. I have bought and read your book about adventure travel and totally agree that you should not save on the riding gear.
So I thought to buy myself a jacket and pant combo which would not neet additional rain gear on top. If rain starts I could continue riding. But with these goretex laminated jackets there is one big compromise. If you are riding in the temperatures +20 and above and occured in the city traffic jam the provided ventilation is not enough to keep you dry inside. Therefore waterproofness is compromise of ventilation. I was looking at the Dainese Gran Turismo. Which on average is in the same price category (1600€ combo). But again the same issue. If you need good ventilation should look for 4-season jacket with removable front and back mesh parts.
Any advice on how Poseidon or other goretex hold up riding in city on summer days?

I rode with mine on anything from minus 12 to + 45 degrees. -The ventilation is great. Since I have it I never used another gear.

I totally agree what you say about those cheap motorcycling gear. I got so many cheap pants and jackets and my friend says to me why i dont buy something good. He has rukka gear and it seems to be really good too. Also expensive. Maybe i will buy it too next year or maybe rev'it... not sure i can try that rev'it gear in my country and its problem but i can order it online..

Maybe this jacket is functional, but looks ugly... looks like a straight-jacket. I would go for Dainese Carve Master.
It seems to be a tendency nowadays that the best brand motorbike jackets look awfull.

From what I can see, there's only 4 total pockets on the front not including a small sleeve pocket: the lower stash pockets including handwarmers. The two vents above the pockets can't be used as pockets also in my opinion as if you're going to have the zippers open to use them as vents stuff will fall out of them. Just not enough outside front pockets for that kind of money. Please correct me if I'm wrong about the number of pockets.
The pockets are four + one big on the rear side. I prefer to have a good ventilation instead of pockets.

Patrol is a great jacket for its price, but it is low priced, so you really shouldn't expect it to preform as well as Dominator...
I was very excited to take a look at it once they've announced it early this year, even been thinking about replacing my RST Adventure 3 with it, but finally it turned out they had better marketing then R&D department) Yep, I know that party of the reason I'm so disappointed is that I've had my expectations too high, but that's only because of such great amount of positive reviews on the launch of this model :)

I have the Klim Badlands jacket and pant and I am thinking to change them for the Dominator. The protections are very strong but actually, it is not confortable while you’re riding in the sitting position (especially for the pant) : no stretch at all.
As you said, there is a pocket in the Klim jacket for the camel bag, but I found it useless : you can’t carry too much water because of the back protection and it’s ugly. I prefer to have a separate camel bag.

The newest version of this jacket The Dominator GTX 3, is said to be lighter. Has anyone had a chance to do a side by side comparison to see if the GTX3 is indeed noticeably lighter than the version reviewed here by Pavlin?

It is very practical.
This is a 3L GTX suit. Maintenance is more difficult (especially if traveling rtw; cause that's your pool of followers it I'm correct - wannabe rtworlders), membrane will tear off at one point in the constant bending/stretching areas (groin, seating), crashing it will come with a big bill and is more difficult to be repaired, 3L and hot climate (sunny, 30 and above) doesn't do it for me (in general + in particular, looking at the amount of ventilation that I've seen in this suit), Klim has better ventilated 3L and not so heavy alternatives at the same price. It would be a matter of respect to review this suit in at least 1 year/min 10.ooo kms from now. We'll then see the wear and tear which sometimes is extended in the cases of some Revit suit components (soggy textile, losing color, breaking apart reflective patches, flawed velcros)
On a final note - a big flagship Revit store from Bratislava no longer exists as of this summer, the no of their models that I used to find in Louis and Polo in Germany are getting smaller and smaller and few days ago I did not have the pleasure to see Revit at Eicma, which I'd say is the most representative exhibition for the European market. Last year they were keeping 80% of their stuff behind semi-transparent walls and had a very poor communication specialist who would show the products only to business entities. Yes, seems like a seious company to me too. In the meanwhile you got your 16 hundreds suit that I'm curious if you would have bought from your own money when going round the world, people are buying and Revit made a better business than coming and staying in the cage with the industry. Hurray!
FYI We didn't attend the EICMA this year because of the new REV'IT! HQ. Because of constant expansion and our future ambitions, we will be moving to our new HQ in the third quarter of 2020. Hi Pavlin, do you have any experience with Rev'it Neptune 2 or heard about it from someone? It's made with gore tex too, but a bit cheaper. I want to buy something reasonably priced, but with confirmed quality and I know that you are the right guy to ask.
Unfortunately no but I owned three REVIÍT! suits and they are all great. So in my opinion it would be good as well.

How hot do these pants get in the summer?
I am thinking to combine laminated pants with normal jacket.
Rain pants are very annoying
They are a bit hot then normal pants but you don't need to carry rain pants. Exactly what I did in my last trip around Europe.
You dont find it heavy when you have it on you ?
It is not light but I don't mind. My last gear was about the same.

Thank you for the detailed review as well as all the videos you post! Another perspective on this jacket as well as the Klim jackets not providing warm linings: USUALLY the linings paired with the jacket are not as warm as the mid layer you would already buy for normal use while not riding, and they are usually not designed to be worn on their own. So to be practical, you have your normal mid layer(s) and buy a size up on the riding jacket so you can wear them underneath. That way you have less to carry, and it's more practical. One question for you: is the Dominator jacket heavier than you would want or would expect?
No, actually it is lighter than my Poseidon, maybe because of the new design back protector.
That's exactly why we don't include a detachable thermal liner in our Dominator GTX. Our compact but warm mid-layers can be worn on and off the bike, can be stored in the back pocket and you don't even need to go a size up.
@@REVITsport It really is a better way to do it when you're adventure traveling and have to think about the function and use of everything and let go of dead weight. BTW we love the Discovery OutDry boots and Sand III jacket we have with us. One con of the boot though: the OutDry seems to leak a bit in moderate to heavy rain.

Hello Pavllin , I'm going to buy this type of Revit . But I have one question : black or light. ?? I know you are using black colour of Revit and there is no warm during sunny days for you ? with white would be easier ... ? or... maybe ventilation is so good that is no matter if you choose black or white ?
I prefer black, but this was sent to me for free. It is also true that with light color will be better in the summer.

I might suggest, right or wrong, the vent flap when open a large grab handle may flap and get annoying. Good review as always Pavlin.
