Andrew needs a podcast. I would absolutely listen to him talk about life, production, business ownership, mental health, food, movies… Just about anything.
“You need to be able to say NO sometimes, even to opportunities you thought you never had in a million years because YOU need to come first”…one of the greatest lessons learnt in this one, great interview and learning experience gents
Andrew always comes across with an authentic energy. Even his merch is so reasonably priced for the amazing quality. He always goes the extra mile without making a big deal about it. I'm genuinely happy to see him going places.
Yeah I remember seeing him started selling merch and I was like "ugh, another content creator selling his brand" but then I saw reviews and his shit was top-quality for a reasonable price, and now I even own one of his knives.
@@terrifyingtyrannosaurusturtle really good. Ridiculously sharp, will chop through veggie like butter, even tougher stuff like raw carrots and potatoes
This whole idea of creators making authentic products in their fields rather than just printed clothing is so cool. I tint cars for a living and have just been floored with the support from my community with the tint tools I’ve released. Just special edition or unique things to my field. So people can learn along with me with things that help support what I do.
Wow. Shocked that my experience is so similar to Andrew's. Rock bottom moment after investing heavily in film school and failing to sell my big spec screenplay to the studios when it went out wide, having to leave LA with a pile of debt and the feeling of complete failure - feeling like my dreams might just be a fantasy, relying on my day job and thinking maybe this is it for me, and then TH-cam comes along and a video "hits big" and all of a sudden I'm a "Content Creator" (albeit a small one still). These Creators sharing their stories is so meaningful and validating, fellas. I think between Andrew and Van we're going to hear about a lot of Creators who had Hollywood dreams and then pivoted into TH-cam because it CHECKS EVERY BOX. It really does. Andrew said it - AUTONOMY. Man these vids are good. Keep 'em coming!
It happens every year, actually. See, the three months before the end of the year has not only the most ad output, but also the most views. It's that buildup towards christmas, and then *falls off a cliff* The thing is, most creators see all the new views, want to capitalize, and increase output. Then the dip comes, and they are still producing at the highest output for the lowest views. The three biggest, best months, followed by the three smallest, worst months. Its a leading cause of burnout.
This one hits really close to home for me as Andrew is the biggest reason why I started my channel. I've known his story for years but it's always humbling to see his persistence.
If Big Babish ever came calling to join their channel, would you go, or is your channel big enough now that that would be a step backwards? Been a subscriber since the early food wars days, my wife and I love your content!
It would pretty awesome to see Colin and Samir take their interview on the road and interview all my favorite Taiwan TH-camrs... oh man.... sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many stories to be had!!!!! Colin and Samir would come back to the states and would have gained 15+ lbs as they ate their way around Taiwan. :) :) Maybe you could join in and bring back that wooden desk? ;-)
Andrew and the whole of The BCU is criminally underrated, despite having millions of subscribers. They are such amazing and talented people that make quality, wholehearted and honest content with the intention of inspiring and helping people. They are so worthy of the platform of TH-cam to display their content. Colin and Samir, you guys are also an amazing group of people who make amazing content. Keep up the good work, guys.
What I mean is that I don't really see them get talked about alot in the media. And I'd like them to get talked about more not just as talented people but how honestly they portray their content and personalities. That's what I mean.
This video is proof of Andrew's ability to be so utterly, uniquely and beautifully human and connect so viscerally with his viewers. I honestly hope he is doing well and continues to do well. He deserves the accolades, but also the breaks.

I think your advice on how to process it (basically separate how you view yourself from how your channel performs) is incredibly helpful. Full stop. That's a BIG statement from a Big youtuber and it would have been on brand for you guys to ask. I'm thinking you were probably just running out of time, but man what an open ended opportunity left unexplored...particularly since this video is going to attract foodie youtubers who are wondering what changed all of the sudden. Thank you for this interview. I am a long time fan of Andrew and this dove deeper into the business end of things and seeing his view on the future of the BCU as a whole. Your questions were wonderful and were more than just a dive into him but were aimed at learning how one could grow and create their own channels and companies. They were insightful and your passion to learn from Andrew and treat him as a mentor and more than just an interviewee showed throughout. All in all, it was very well done and was very thoughtful and thorough, thank you.

But amazing interview, as always you ask incredibile questions have been following you for 3 years now, you rock.
Loved this episode guys! Audio issues are not the end of the world. Honestly for me it brings character to the conversation. it shows the authenticity and that’s one of the many reasons I’ll always come back every Monday 🙂
I like the editing and switches to different episodes or whatever he’s talking about in the moment, rather than it all just being the three of you chatting. Good vid 👍
This is the first video I’ve seen from Colin and Samir because I don’t watch a lot of Babish videos. But the quality of questions and insight is super interesting.
Love Babish, I found him about 4 years ago when I was looking for a brownie recipe, loved his style of video, binge watched his previous content like it was a tv series lol I've learned so much from his content and re watch some of the old ones like they are a favourite episode of a series you love, so comforting.
Shit, this felt way too accurate 6minutes in. I went to film school too and last year completed a short film I spent a year on working 70+hr long weeks while unemployed, it was a super personal passion project I had wanted to make for years, and to direct/write/produce/compose the music for it, only to be dissatisfied with it in the end was soul crushing. Luckily also decided to make some guitar-playing tiktoks on the side during the year as a hobby, and somehow that’s sort of turned into a bit of the thing?? So now I’m considering making music/ being a content creator as my foot in the door instead (which is crazy to consider!) Truly never know where the right path might be for you - this foodie/filmmaker/musician LOVED this!!!! Crushed it again guys🔥
Wow big respect to you guys, extremely high production value and I really liked how you legitimately listened to him and didn't interrupt with quips unnecessarily
I'm grateful for how vulnerable and open Andrew was, just as you both were. As a viewer, not a creator, this chat was really eye-opening and I learned a lot. I've been a Babish fan for a long time and really enjoyed this interview.
couldn't put my phone down for the entire show.. thanks guys.. an episode that i didn't know i was looking forward to watching.. i started subscribing to Babish because you mentioned about it on one of your episode.. i have watched tonnes of cooking show in my lifetime, but Babish is different.. I could've watch this for another hour! This was great but I can't shake the feeling you could've gone deeper. Being at an event there were definitely limits so I hope you get to sit down again for part 2 👍
Andrew is probably the most outwardly "human" creator that i keep up with. he's struggled with depression and mental issues throughout his career and recently had a spell he felt the need to be vocal about on his page. you can tell by his demeanor in this video that he still hasn't fully absorbed his success and fame as one of the biggest culinary creators in modern society. certain moments i feel like he was explaining himself to you guys, as if you were his therapist or something. babish if you happen to read this, love you man. keep up the good work, big pimpin'
I remember first time I saw binging with babish around 15k followers and I can’t believe how far he’s gotten. It’s like I have seen a baby grow or something. Amazing!!
Colin and Samir is easily my favorite channel on youtube at the moment and I am not even an aspiring creator, just find it fascinating how the creator space works and find their interviewing ability and ability to break down concepts to be so incredible. Have been a long time viewer and feel like this channel deserves a much larger following and have been really glad to see the channel grow immensely recently. Keep up the great work!
Having seen 2 episodes of the newset show on BCU, Soy Boys... I've never been so engaged in something on the Babish channel that's arguably only tangentially about food. It's such a deeply personal story about weight loss, friendship and expanding horizons, and I somehow feel it's something I've never seen before, even though the chances of coming across a brand new concept in media these days is practically impossible.
Man... this is just me. I'm 29 do vfx/film and learning unreal engine 5 trying to put all my love and passions into something I'm proud of. Thanks for this video. I needed to hear all of this.

So, I wonder who is going to do the video of the Colin and Samir come-up?? Great vid guys - never heard of this guy before but I'm the farthest from being a chef or cook as they come so he wouldn't have crossed my sphere, however, after watching this I have checked out a few of his vids and they're great! Thanks for sharing!
38:43 - The OGs, the day 1s, can tell when the content quality goes down because your OG day1s were never in it for the money. They've stuck with you because of the content and they will ride with you until the wheels fall off and they can tell. They can definitely tell. Hopefully though, things are getting better for you Andrew and hopefully 2022 and the future will be better than the last.
I'd love to see a follow episode in a break down style of what your enjoyed, learnt and think is important from this meeting. Plus as a side note, i think you would really benefit from an episode closing trailer. It feels a bit rough and unfinished with out one. Especially as you guys are so detail oriented and crisp in execution.
I loved this! The shift from the hustle hustle upload upload mentality to really focusing on having fun with what you're making with quality at a sustainable pace is really refreshing to hear!
this is a wonderful interview and the insights are just brilliant, however, the PAWG in the leather pants in the background is quite literally (Babish included) chefs kiss*
2 of my favorite channels colliding, I love this and love these type of interviews - excited to see whats ahead for Collin and Samir as these keep getting better and better.
a lot of these interviews seem to touch on "longevity" which is pretty interesting. like a creator's career is kinda like a athelete/sportsperson's. you give it all your all during the prime of your life when you have the energy to be regular and to survive, and after that you try diversifying. but the growth potential with creators is kind of insane because if done right (and sustainably) you can pretty much explode. (just a random thought)
Fascinating to see how they used a different depth of field between the interviewer and guest. Almost a lean towards how Binging with Babish is known to use their depth of field in their videos to focus the food, they used it to focus on their guest.
Colin and Samir are the TH-camr’s TH-camr. They try and probe proper advice for aspiring and existing creators, and never shy away from or over-simplify shop talk.
Thank you thank you thank you for being a straightforward no-shame advocate for therapy and mental healthcare as a normalized part of self care. Thank you.
As a huge Andrew Rea fan and follower since the beginning, this interview really shows and dives into why I respect him as a creator and 'boss'. He's laying a good framework for future businesses where people are respected financially and creatively. I appreciate the willingness to deep dive. Your interview style is meaningful and you've more than earned a sub.

Hopefully though, things are getting better for you Andrew and hopefully 2022 and the future will be better than the last.
Loved the interview! Audio-tip, a low-cut on this own would have helped a lot. Especially with the pumping music in the background :).
I freaking love Andy, he's so real and honest. So hard to find now'a days.
This was surprisingly even better than I thought it would be
I'd love to see a follow episode in a break down style of what your enjoyed, learnt and think is important from this meeting. Plus as a side note, i think you would really benefit from an episode closing trailer. It feels a bit rough and unfinished with out one. Especially as you guys are so detail oriented and crisp in execution.
Great episode as always though. 👏 well done.
That’s valid. What do you mean by trailer though? A preview of next week?
@@ColinandSamir Something like that or like a sneak peak at what's coming up or just a nice little outro
Colin & Samir videos is always educational and entertaining and I hope the videos never stops
you guys are apart of my monday schedule, every week I watch your video start to finish before starting work
Nice, card change worked perfect with publish press PSA. I love those touch to those transitions.
Nice way using the "mistakes happen" and rolling with it into the ad!
I legit want someone to look at me the way Colin is looking at Samir @ 5:18 😂😂😭😅😅
a lot of these interviews seem to touch on "longevity" which is pretty interesting. like a creator's career is kinda like a athelete/sportsperson's. you give it all your all during the prime of your life when you have the energy to be regular and to survive, and after that you try diversifying. but the growth potential with creators is kind of insane because if done right (and sustainably) you can pretty much explode. (just a random thought)
Love the setting and video colors. Very cool.
Oh and great interview too of course! 😆
I think you should interview matpat from game theory he is a og creator who has really scaled up his channnals to a business
feel so fortunate to have been watching you guys since 2015/2016, I still have no idea why you havent blown up. TH-cam, sort it out.
Loving the new interviews
*talks about allowing natural life to make great transitions with babish. Proceeds to do so later on in the video. 👀
Another great video guys!!
These videos are looking like entire movies in quality
I'm happy to see him doing so well. Good job bud.
Fascinating to see how they used a different depth of field between the interviewer and guest. Almost a lean towards how Binging with Babish is known to use their depth of field in their videos to focus the food, they used it to focus on their guest.
The camera on Andrew was so unsteady I couldn't make it through 5 minutes without getting motion sickness - too bad, I really wanted to watch this!
Loved every minute of this interview. It really felt like a few friends sitting around having a conversation more than an interview.
Colin and Samir are the TH-camr’s TH-camr. They try and probe proper advice for aspiring and existing creators, and never shy away from or over-simplify shop talk.
Feeling motivated after watching this. Thank you for always asking great questions and having good conversation.
This is so phenomenal and so inspiring! Great interviewers also, you listen to him and just let him tell his story. Thank you all for doing this !!
Thank you thank you thank you for being a straightforward no-shame advocate for therapy and mental healthcare as a normalized part of self care. Thank you.
worlds colliding - I've been watching both channels for years! Loved this interview. Great work guys!!
Sneaky fascinating story. Well done as always fellas!
Tears to my eyes. Within only a few minutes I saw my life a bit differently
love Babish. But dang my adhd sure had my eye caught on the people in the background when they panned back to Colin and Samir lol.
I swear colin and samir are like the youtube therapists
As a huge Andrew Rea fan and follower since the beginning, this interview really shows and dives into why I respect him as a creator and 'boss'. He's laying a good framework for future businesses where people are respected financially and creatively. I appreciate the willingness to deep dive. Your interview style is meaningful and you've more than earned a sub.
Your show keeps getting better by each episode. Probably my favourite brand to follow at the moment. 🙏🏼
Yesss another Colin and Samir videoo … great way to start the week 💯🔥
Hahaha exactly
First of all i love his voice, and then his humor also the cooking😬
