I see it like this…Charles literally developed the original voices himself. And the fact that the new actor has been brought to carry on those same exact voices, in the same style, means a bit of Charles’ DNA will always be in these characters. Honestly think they’re doing a great job.
Honestly this response from the comments is probably the best case scenario, I'm sure the VAs are ecstatic about the response! Charles has such a history with the characters so this level of acceptance will surely mean a lot to them
Honestly, I feel like a lot of people are saying the “it’s-a me!” line sounds bad because they KNOW it’s not Charles. It still sounds like Mario to me! Yes it’s different but not to the point where I’m gonna refuse to play the game or trash the new VA. He’s doing a great job.
You can clearly hear a slight difference with "It's-a me!" and "Here we go!" but it's still undeniably Mario sounding, and I think that's the most important thing for a new VA to capture
It sounds like someone doing a spot on impression of Mario. It’s missing that little something you lose from the original voice actor, but the voice this guy is doing is REALLY close
Ngl I think the new voice actor is doing his own spin on the Mario voice and I love that because that way, Mario will have a new feel to fit with the actor change because that way, the new voice actor might impact future generations the same way Charles Martinet impacted our generation
Yes I know change is hard and Charles Martinet is a living legend that will never be forgotten. But put it in perspective: being the new Charles Martinet and having the role of Mario, Luigi, etc. is a TALL responsibility. If anything, it is a huge honor for whoever it is to receive this role as the new Mario VA. I’m sure Charles is rooting for the new VA and we should all too.
It may take a little getting used too, but for the most part I adore these new voices! They sound more youthful and energetic which really works for the platforming. Whoever did them is doing an incredible job!
Luigi is spot on, Mario sounds a little weird sometimes, especially when saying "its-a me" other than that though the new guy isn't really that bad
I can tell a slight difference on Mario, but it's still a fantastic job.
I like it, especially his Luigi.

He sounds pretty good, but I’m gonna miss Charles tbh.

Whoever’s voicing Luigi is doing fantastic so far
Mario sounds kinda weird but Luigi’s voice is pretty good
idk who voices luigi but its ON POINT, literally flawless

It’s incredible how distinct Charles voice was, to the point that thousands of people can pinpoint the voice is a little different.
you obviously can never top charles but i think the new guy knows that cus he's clearly putting his own spin on it, which i love
It's impressive how they're doing an amazing job!

The guy who voices Luigi deserves a medal.

Honestly, still sounds exactly how you would imagine them to sound. Props to the new voice actors.
