Values: Honesty in Relationships
Honesty is very important to us. Being real. Speaking truth.
Following up with action.
It matters, especially when building a solid foundation in any relationship.
When we started dating and quickly getting serious, Sheena made sure we knew all the ins and outs of each other: past, present, future thoughts.
What did we believe in? Who were we as people? How did we grow up? What does our future hold?
We talked about anything and everything.
All our missteps and misadventures.
What we lacked and needed.
Our perceived strengths and weaknesses.
Sheena didn’t want anything left unsaid, because she didn’t want to fully invest her heart into a relationship that was predicated on false information.
👉Honesty leads to trust. Trust leads to a united, solid relationship that has the ability to strengthen and grow over time.
No matter what happens in life, we can trust in each other and in our relationship to get us through.
This provides security and less fear in the unknown.
We know we got each other’s back for life, no matter what may come.
That’s power. You can’t buy it, only earn it.
We continuously build upon the solid foundation we started on by staying aligned to this value.
Prodding each other for the real, unadulterated truth (sometimes it takes a few prodding questions to eek it out-we don’t always know there’s more underneath, until prodded).
We don’t let things go or fester. It’s only now.
We talk it out. All the time.
We don’t always get it right, but we are always willing to learn, grow, and improve…together.
