    Hey Steve….Thank You for making this video series…
    It really has helped me all these years after you made them…I scored a 98 454 4 x 4 in 2022 and this will go great with the manual

      I still miss that old ATV........one of the best ones Ive had. The manual transmission was great on these little sherman tanks.

      @@stevewatr I believe it will make a good around the farm machine, when done…moving trailers and boats around …
      Or just for checking fence line on a lazy ride…
      Once again THANK YOU SIR !!!!!

    Excellent video, motivates me to fix my rear brake on my 2002 Artic Cat 400i... But I'm not going to sell my 17yo ATV

    I did just that very thing only today on a sticking cable on my rototiller, except I used PB blaster. Sometimes you get lucky, but I remember this rear brake cable, it was toast. Regards, Steve.

    Thanks for the informative videos! I have learned you can fill a seized cable full of wd40 and hang it straight up and down.In a day or two if you give it a squirt every so often it will free up..

    Hi. Need a lil help here! I got a 05 650. No brakes so I did all new calipers. Still no brakes. Just replaced master cylinder still no lock. Handle still don't seem to be doing much. Pretty lose goes all the way in! Any ideas what it might be? Thanks

      Sorry, but I know very little about the brakes on these. I sold the Artic Cat in these videos long ago, and had never had trouble with the breaks. I do know that if you do not bleed the brakes, that air in the system will make the brake handle feel spongy. and they will not work well.

    Hey Steve, thanks for doing the series, if I could make a suggestion. It would be great if these projects or series videos were in a playlist so the viewer doesn't have to rifle through pages and pages of videos just to find them. I spend more time trying to find each one than I do watching them.

      Hi, i do make playlists for a lot of my projects. The arctic cat just happens to be my oldest youtube series. I guess I never made a playlist for this one. Sorry.

    I changed oil isn't the gear oil the engine oil as well? thanks for the reply!

      I cant remember if this is a wet clutch. if it is, make sure you use the specified oil. regular automobile oil has friction modifiers that make them unsuitable for motorcycle wet clutches.

    I realize it's been a while, but do you remember the part number for the rear mechanical brake cable?

    • @stevewatr
      @stevewatr  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, sorry. But use Babbitts online. They are great. And in 1997 they only made like 1 or 2 models of the Bearcats.

    how much did you buy the whole machine for in the first place??

  • @stevewatr
    @stevewatr  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It was so long ago I honestly do not remember the exact amount, but I think it was $250 or $300. It was a real mess, check out part 1 if you have not already.

    Hello Steve I just got a artic cat myself. It appears to be the same one u have here. Ive noticed when shifting gears its alittle ruff. going from 3rd to 4th and 5th is really ruff and almost doesn't go in gear unless RPMs are low then it will shift.. If your gaining speed and higher RPM it doesn't shift Is this just how these machines work or does it sound like I have some damaged gears or maybe clutch system. Any info will help Thanks. Good Videos!

    • @stevewatr
      @stevewatr  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      make sure the gearbox oil level is good. let off the throttle when shifting. if it still seems to be difficult to shift, id suspect the clutch is sticking.
