I don't think the love interest scene made the cut. One of the deleted scenes with Katy and XuXiaoLing having a conversation when they arrive at the Ten Rings compound, XuXiaoLing asks Katy if she has feelings for her brother like he does for her but she denies them anyway because she doesn't want to ruin their friendship. Something like that.
Karaoke is a favourite pastime and honoured tradition in Asian cultures - "The family that sings together, stays together", something along those lines. And Wong knew who Beyonce was from the start, he was basically just playing the disinterested veteran not putting up with Strange's new kid humour lol

The only hint that the director (Destin Daniel Cretton) got was that during rehearsal Wong carefully studied the set, picking up the chairs, adjusting the table etc, but didn't let on what he was planning, which is hilarious.

I don't understand why people complain a lot about the comedy of the movie. IMO the humor was fine and doesn't take away anything from the movie. For example when the flight attendant interrupted shang's backstory short with a beef or vegetarian joke, they were saving it for later in the movie. When it would be more impactful to the emotion of the story.

That is literally her entire purpose. All of a sudden he just shoots an arrow and kills a dragon from so far away after a day of practice because she had "a goal in life". Its just so she can be with shang chi when wong comes calling

One thing I like about this movie is that they were able to create a presentation of "Chi" without doing the "fake air moving with colors". In martial art / wuxia novels, when "Chi" was unleashed on the opponent, it was just air currents moving really violently - like air cannons. But you can't really see air. You can see its effects - how air swayed the trees, swept up the leaves, rippled a wave on water. So, Marvel present "Chi" with a visualization of "moving leaves". It was not the leaves that moved, it was the Chi that swept them up. It is done this way so that you can visualize where the Chi went. So, there you go. Talo's martial arts isn't just "leaf magic". It's a presentation of a prevalent concept that exists in martial art / wuxia novels.

I literally wept with laughter in the theater when Morris showed up. From Shang-Chi and Katy freaking out to Trevor happily proclaiming "You're real, Morris! I thought I was hallucinating you!" it was absolutely amazing.

It really is the details in the script that makes me love it so much. The magical monster(Morris) from 山海經, Ta Lo's implying to 桃花源(Utopia in Chinese culture), you could really tell how much effort they put into the script. Especially the Chinese dialogues, for the very first time the audience in the theatre can laugh at a joke together that is in our native tongue, in a FREAKING MCU MOVIE. It was simply marvelous. That's one thing that triggered me slightly - that notebook's battery would've turned into an inferno the moment it is punctured. Both Shang-chi and that swordsmen should've been lit on fucking fire near instantly.

This movie took everything I love about Ninjago, Avatar The Last Airbender, and mixed it together with Marvel, thus creating this beautiful gift.

As someone who has tried to learn tonal languages like Mandarin, I can so relate to even Katy taking five attempts to say his name, even with him repeating it each time.
I love their friendship! It's so precious and pure! I hope Marvel doesn't mess this one up! Also, even if they develop into a more romantic relationship in the future, it will still be based on their unbreakable friendship and they would still have each other's back. Also, I'm really glad that they didn't make their relationship into a romantic one immediately, 'cause that would feel rushed, but instead Marvel gave us the refreshing friendship we all need at this time. It really is the details in the script that makes me love it so much. The magical monster(Morris) from 山海經, Ta Lo's implying to 桃花源(Utopia in Chinese culture), you could really tell how much effort they put into the script.
Especially the Chinese dialogues, for the very first time the audience in the theatre can laugh at a joke together that is in our native tongue, in a FREAKING MCU MOVIE. It was simply marvelous.

Shang Chi was the perfect MCU movie in phrase 4 where it balanced humor, seriousness and emotions to the best extent.
