The most mangoes come from Westmoreland in a small town called Delveland, where the original mango festival was kept for a number of years .We have over 87 different types of mangoes that I can remember ,there are more but that's the amount I remember for now.
Wow, I really like this guy. You don't even have to ask if he likes mangoes. His whole demeanor tells it all and he sure knows what he is talking about. He mentioned Millie mango, and I screamed, I have not had Millie mango in about 20 plus years! Great video!
I don't believes that man really come from Jamaica, or really travelled the islands ,there is nowhere in Jamaica have more variety of mangoes like St,Ann.Those mangoes he is talking like green gauge, long mango, sour mango in St,Ann it is called saltfish, long mango is called outlass mango.I 2typed of Numbers 11,2 types of Backras, sweetie, 7 stars,Fat,Balla,2 types of black mango, sugar,Buff,Bambay,Julie, east Indian, James vernol, coolie, saltfish mango, coco mango, Robin mango, Hairy, we called stringy, turnitime, what must remember. Although we are from Jamaica, every parish have their different slang. Some parish called certain things differently, and it is Same thing both people is talking. That is why you haveto try to understand each other, I could take that guy to St,Ann to a certain area .Where those Whiteman useto cultivated mangoes by the acres, and as far as your eyes can see.I pure mangoes you are looking at, when is mangoes time, the higglars them just buy out the crops by the truck loads.
🙏🙏 Very thankful to you for knowing such names. In India now mangoes have gone like monocropping.lot of native varieties have been cut down for getting some famous few market varities.
@@rajeshwarkalge632 I am living in the United States now for 26years and,you can find Mangoes of any kinds. I lived in Florida where it is just 550 miles to Jamaica and it is 2nd largest population of Jamaicans living, and anywhere you travel over Florida. There is a lot of varieties of mangoes all over the place, if you lived in sunny Florida. You wouldn't haveto be worrying about the few mangoes trees they are cutting down, because they are very much plentiful in sunny Florida.
@@blairboyd4982 🙏🙏 Thankyou Sir for replying.I admire Jamaican community for carrying and holding their traditional varieties.I am not worried for just chopping off the trees sir.I had seen every 3 kms a new flavour and taste , size variety during my childhood .some trees were 400 years or more old so large a bullock cart would easily go through it if a passage was made.In last 10 years all such trees were cut and table varieties like keshar, baadam ,etc are planted. They are tasty but season wont last like from march to mid july. These come and go in 2 months.Taste is monotonous .The native varities would be variety of aroma taste size and uses.A great loss to diversity has occured.
