As an arborist people often ask me questions that I don’t normally have any information about fruit trees are a specialty and now I know and abundant about avocados and with this video I’m learning about mangoes they don’t grow in my area either of them but it’s nice to have the information to share with people who have a question and I can share your video or just have a brief conversation with someone who wants to talk to a specialist like myself who is basically a hired saw 🙂

Hello happy farmer! Our boys from Poland are also setting up avocado farms... , in Cambodia. 🤗 Cash was there too. There will be no competition, they plant a variety for markets. It's a good market. God bless.
Thanks I've sen those phases. I saw one fruit a year ago. Not sure if it dropped or a snail or squirrel ate it. Definitely getting lots of flowers. Trees about 5 - 6 years old. Over 12 feet tall. Hopefully next season, big yield.
Nancy, I've seen them try to flower and fruit when they're only knee high but we try to discourage that because when they are that small we prefer the tree dedicate it's energy to growing limbs and roots rather than fruit. I usually wait until the tree is a little taller than me before I allow it to flower and fruit.
Thank you so much for the information!! Would you mind giving me some tips about how to water mango trees in the flowering stage, on a dry hot weather?
Mango trees in the ground do not require a lot of water once they are established but if it's hot and dry you maybe wanna give them an hour of watering every 10 days or 2 weeks. If in pots just check the soil and when it's dry water until damp.
Do mango trees work the same way as avocado trees in maximizing pollination, to have type A and B varieties in cross pollinating one another?just like having Haas avocado and Fuerte , do I have to have 2 trees for cross pollination?
Thank you very much for this. I planted a mango tree, it could be like 1.5 years old, im not too sure as it was a grafted tree thay i bought from the nursery, it's just under a metre tall and has started the 4 stage process, is it too soon for the tree or should I remove the growth as it has passed the pollination step as well.
at a meter tall most people would recommend you prune away the flowers so the tree can dedicate more energy to growing so that you get a bigger more productive tree more quickly. It's your call.
I believe I have a mango tree in my back yard, having Trouble Identify if it is or a lychee tree. If it is a mango tree when is a good time to relocate as it is too close to our septic and we want to move as we want to keep it. Thanks. Great video!!!!
Hi, the best time to move the tree would be just before your rainy season or just at the beginning of your rainy season so it has a chance to water into its new home
Thank you, for this wonderful information. My mother has a mango tree, but this is the 1st year we see flowers. The information you shared has helped us as far as what to expect. I will fertilize, but could you please, recommend what you said to do next, the chemical for fungus?
Hi Lucky, Some people use sulfur, some use copper anti fungal, others use something called Manzate still others concoct their own solutions in their kitchen. From my observations most commercial growers lean pretty heavy toward copper.
Luis, I actually talked about that during recording but I chose to eliminate that part from the final vid. Yes, if you drove around down here you'd see stacks of hive boxes along the fields and groves. With mango the primary pollinator is flies so instead of a hive a lot of people will put a pile of something that rots like old meat or some fish which will attract flies who lay eggs and create more flies...I don't do that though 🤢
9a is too cold. I'm not sure but maybe if you come up with a way to protect them on cold nights you might get fruit but mangos are indicated for 9b and up...and even 9b can be challenging

First of all, thank you for this informative video! And I have a question regarding water stress. Can u please explain me about the effect of water stress on mango trees?
Prashanti, here in South Florida our natural rain cycle is enough to keep the mangos good. We water them when they are young but once established we let Mother Nature do the watering.
usually one maybe two. some varieties cluster a bit more. but between now and harvest time most of mine will drop and leave only one or two per panicle which is normal.
Alex, I've never had the need for pesticide but mangos are susceptible to anthracnose which can be prevented with Manzate during flowering and copper after fruit set. Also if you have a problem with mildew there are people who use sulfur.
I need some advice please and I am not sure how to contact you. I live near the sea in a climate similar to yours. USDA zone 10 I am about 700 feet away in a straight line from the sea. (altitude 4 meters) We have salinity in the air occasionally. From your experience what tropical fruits/varieties can I grow in such location ? I am able to protect the young trees with windbreak fabric. Any mango/avocado varieties you would recommend ? What other fruit please ? I already have figs, pomegranate, bananas. Any advice welcome!
Jogrypto, thank you for reaching out. I don't know much about this subject except to say that I'm aware certain varieties of mango thrive closer to the sea coast and other struggle. but I'm so far inland it's not an issue for me and I don't know which is which.
According to the University of Florida, mango panicles will on average produce less than 1 fruit per panicle. So you will typically harvest fewer mangos than panicles, even though some panicles wil hold more than one mango. The unhealthy or malformed mangos will naturally drop off. Some varieties are known to hold multiple fruits per panicle. Some varieties are known to produce mangos at different times of the season. In Florida depending in the variety most mangos flower in late winter/early spring, and the fruit are ready to harvest in early to late summer.
So I’m growing a tiny mango tree and there are no other mango trees near that one, so I was wondering can a mango tree produce fruit that tastes good if it doesn’t get pollinated? Or does that fruit not get produced and the flower dies.
