Metal Gear Solid Retrospective - The Game that Changed Storytelling

- So with the, at the time, rumors for a Metal Gear Solid remake swirling around the internet I took it upon myself to start replaying the series not only to gain a better understanding of the games, but because I didn't fully understand which game was being remade. Nevertheless playing MGS again was a blast, and now playing it all these years later it's story manages to land so much better. This game only seems to get better with age and I'm glad I can share with you all why this is. I hope you all enjoy.

I remember trying to play this on a PS1 emulator years ago. I gave up after being killed repeat by the tank boss. A great game series I have always wanted to play but never really had the opportunity to. Great video as always.
If they ever port it to the collection you can try Twin Snakes which is the gamecube remake. The story isn't as good as the original but it's a much better game to play and the more modern controls might help with certain bosses.
I just finished metal gear solid two days ago. Great game.
Oh glad to hear it. And yeah this game is fantastic.
I think it's quite appropriate you reviewed MGS1 instead of 3 in response to Delta's announcement. Personally, I'd call this the "Yakuza 0" of MGS, in the sense that it's a balanced and well done stand alone classic, or good entry point, in a long going and convoluted series, I've been playing this game sine 1998/99 and I've made it an annual ritual to replay in order to better understand the writing, themes and characters. Lately, and with this video, I now appreciate MGS1 as an intense character driven drama inside a compelling stealth action game. It's wonderful to have this experience with games that entertain alongside making us think and feel.
It really is the Y0 of the series considering how many people entered on this game and treat it like the entry point. Honestly before making this video I didn't think much of the story or characters either but after having to identify the major theme in the game things just started falling into place and I began to appreciate what the game was trying to do. I'm happy to know you got something out of this video that caused you to see the game in a different light.
