Since we are all having to stay isolated right now, I want to share with everyone this quick studio tour and a breakdown of everything I carry and use in my mobile painting kit!

Thanks for sharing your learned understanding relationship to colour and your pallet. I get it. Honestly I understand the things you didn't talk about like the fact that you kinda ronnie'ed your kit over time and it's probably the best plein air kung fu out their for free. Then you didn't stop there but you talked about your pallet. My take away is that i shouldn't scrimp on coulor or kit but give myself the freedom of color and sensible mobility. I spotted the white on the left and that makes a lot of sense and it's got loads of range. Well done. I have a habit of limiting myself and making non sensible rules about coulor and limiting myself to split compliments or some other quasi physiological pre ordained school taught thing. It's a miracle that I have been flown all over the world just to paint.
Thanks for the tour of your work . You have a great understanding of light and colour and your images are very grounded. I have to mention the two water pieces behind at the end. The long one just grabs your eye and its nice but the lily pads one is magic super floaty like its wet. I couldn't see the whole thing but it looked alright!
Dude! I can see the work that you have put in to what you are doing and as your 115th subscriber I just have to tell you that you are doing the right thing. Most people don't understand what you mean by transparency of a coulor within a pallet and that is something authentic that you can share. You should do a chat on your couch or just do a ask five questions thing there on a fixed rig for your guests. I would watch that.

Enjoyed the video, nice work. That’s cool that you.are able to build some of your tools yourself. I have a question about where do you source your frames? I really like that style of frame.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I have frames from a number of different sources, some are cheaper mass produced ones, some are ones I make myself, and others are by various high quality custom frame makers. Masterworks Frames out of Utah do really incredible work, and I recommend them highly.
Thanks for the informative video. My question is about the hinge like mechanism on the outside of the cigar box. What is it called and where can you purchase one?
The hinges on the larger pochade box are Torsion hinges from Rockler hardware. The hinges on the small box are just small cabinet hinges, and the ange adjustment hardware is a straight Box Lid Brace/stay that I modified for this purpose.
Me, again! I love the fact that you are avoiding using plastic bags. I’m a tree hugger, mostly. Using those plastic grocery bags makes my stomach turn every time, but with oil painting, didn’t know of other options. When you get back from a plein air, how do you dispose of the waste? I assume you can then reuse the bag? Again, thank you for this video. Very well done.
Yes, the bag is 100% reusable. You can dispose of the soiled towels the same way you would from your studio.

Is that pallette or a pochade box which also holds the panel while you paint? What brand is that box?
Both of them are pochade boxes I made.
What brand is that tripod? I got a Manfrotto, but it turned out to be heavier than my Pro Master and not very study. Love my Pro Master, but it doesn't fold up as compact as yours nor is as light.

I think there is an updated model of it available. Another good option is this Sirui Compact Traveller, Which is nearly identical to the, Dolica, but a bit higher quality and a bit higher priced

Where do you buy those frames?
I source frames from multiple companies, and make some myself as well. For inexpensive frames, I usually order from JFM. For high quality, handmade, custom water gilded frames, I usually order from Masterworks Frames out of Utah.
can you tell me how high your tripod goes.
Its maximum height is 57". It is a discontinued Dolica model I got off of Amazon.

Kathy, the one in the video is a Dolica TX570B150SL, but it is discontinued. That company may have a newer model. There are multiple good options out there, but here is one I'd likely get if I were buying today:

I don't know whether your intention was to be insulting or if you were trying to be humorous, but it is just coming across as rude and ignorant.
My income working both as a designer and self employed fine artist solely supported me and my family for 10 years, and since then my work as a full time self employed fine artists is in full partnership with my wife and the work she does as both a mother and freelance editor.
Your comment displays multiple inherent erroneous assumptions and conclussions:
a) that my work is not of a quality to support my practice and living; or,
b) that I as a business owner am not skilled or professional enough to effectively operate a successful art business; or,
c) that all artists are incapable of making successful careers that support them and their lives;
d) that most or all of what is seen in this video must have been acquired not by my hard work and prudence but by manipulating and taking advantage of someone else;
e) that my wife is wealthy and must support us and my art occupation;
f) that my wife is a weak and pathetic victim who would allow herself to be taken advantage of; and
g) that I am a selfish unprincipled leech who would manipulate and take advantage of others for my gain.

If those were not your thinking and intention to passive aggressively communicate, then you probably need to seriously reevaluate how and what you say. If you did intend to communicate these things, then I feel sorry for you and hope you find some kindness in your life, but I also do not have patience for people being rude to me, nor will I allow them to be insulting to my wife
