    This is my cluster for my 07 Yukon Denali XL, when I re-installed the cluster it worked flawlessly. I was happy to see gears since it has been a solid year that I was able to see the dash and know what gear I was in. Thanks for the fast turn around time and amazing work. I will be sending you as much work as I can.

    No I find it better when explaining what you are doing better then just watching you work. I would hope you do a work bench tools video. One of my contacts is asking me to do cluster repairs for them. I have done the steper and light repairs but I have to pass on when they have had to replace cluster when it needs to be replaced and cant change the odometer.

      Try unplugging the battery for 5 minutes and plug it back it. It will force the needles to reset. But it won't fix the cluster if it's failing.

      The 07+ style stepper motors don't typically fail like the 03-06 do. Chances are someone or previous owner was in there fixing the display and was sloppy putting the needles back on.

    Hey awesome video this one and all the rest you have are very informative. I was wondering if you have schematics for the boards on gm instrument clusters? I can't find them anywhere or do you just look at a working board and trace things down that way. Also I could hook up my scanner to the 03-06 clusters and get it to do a gauge sweep but it won't work on the 07 and up it just says no communication. I tied into pin 6 the low speed gmlan serial data line to the scanner. I would even paypal you some $ for you time and info. Thanks

    • @jeffescortlx
      @jeffescortlx  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 07-14 use pin 1 on the OBD port for communication, the 03-06 are not the same.
      GM has not released or leaked schematics for clusters that I have found. I have reversed engineered enough of the 03-04 and 05's to get what I need most of the time. I have my own sketches. Fun to do when some of the chips and components are propitiatory.

    Every Time I use hot air I'm nervous I'm going to damage something...

    • @jeffescortlx
      @jeffescortlx  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I normally start around 350ºc and go up from there if the parts are larger or heat sunk.
      Reflowing the entire board should be a last ditch effort out of desperation.

    • @SeanScarbrough
      @SeanScarbrough 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok yeah that exactly where I started 350 with low air. I added solider where it was large enough for me to do so...but did not on any of the IC's. ohh my unit is out of a 2003 Chevy Tahoe btw. I seem to have fixed most of the problems except I will lose complete power and have to bang on the dash to get it back. still not sure what that is...

    • @jeffescortlx

    I have an 07 Tahoe. My cluster will light up but no gauge movement or function along with no information panel or gear identification panel. I have a feeling it is caused by the remote start. I've been getting a lot of failed processors lately in this style of cluster. They become temperature sensitive when they are warmer they will work when they work colder they will not boot up. As far as I know there are no direct replacement microprocessors available. You'll need to replace the entire cluster.

      Thanks for the quick response. Since I had nothing to loose I took my dash apart to get to the cluster. I pulled the cluster out so I could get to the wire harness. I turned the ignition on and no function to the gauges and nothing to the panels. I carefully disconnected the wire harness and then plugged it back in. I made an effort to not move anything but the harness. I turned the ignition on and it powered up. Everything functioning correctly. I then tapped, banged and even moved the the wire harness around and could not make it fail. I assume oxidation? Is there any other explanation for it to work after unplugging and plugging back in? I am planing on leaving the dash apart for a few days just in case.
      Again thank you for the quick response and your videos are awesome!

    • @jeffescortlx
      @jeffescortlx  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I have ran into is 07 up clusters that will not boot up when cold, but once warmed up they will boot.
      Take your cluster back out, put it in your freezer for 10 minutes then plug it back in. If it refuses to boot up when cold it's the microprocessor.
