Hi Sharleen, I'm constantly amazed by the amount of preparation that you put into your interview episodes. Not only do you invest time in reading the guest's published work, you also spend the effort to synthesize the information and then construct meaningful and relevant questions. On top of that, you modify/re-sequence your questions based on the answers that you receive! Your preparation and active listening efforts are truly impressive! THANK YOU for broadening our horizon!

Ban Squared, I could hug you! I’m forever the eager student and can’t stand the idea of being underprepared for a guest who carved an hour out of their day to be with us. I also hate interviews that feel like interviews and not conversations 😅 Your comment made me feel incredibly seen and appreciated and it means a lot. Thank you!

I'm also impressed by Andy's active listening... no doodling, he intently looks at Sharleen during the entire conversation. He's such a good guy, he sets the bar higher for the guy I'm looking for. They actually both set it higher for me for people I want to be around. Heretofore, I haven't been as blessed to have friends like this in my life.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I needed this today.
I was seriously considering writing you about this very thing.
I also felt that "if I wasn't disclosing I was lying or withholding or sneaky or bad" - and I came to the realization, as Andy mentioned, that 'everybody lies a little about the little things'.
This discussion applies not only to romantic relationships, but to friendships as well.
A 'friend' has been trying to make me feel bad about my mental health and I refuse to, even though it can be a struggle to stand my ground. I decided that it was her issue, not mine.
So many of the things discussed validated what I did and communicated and reinforced my opinion she just is not a person who I can continue the path with.
I had one of those "Maybe the universe DOES see me after all" moments.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

So, I do think a big reason your callers and followers in particular often express that they are nervous when they don't feel 100% sure about a partner, or when they don't feel that instant spark or connection, is that you guys did/do have that. I have a friend who also listens to you and literally told me that she wants to be with someone who knows right away about her, *like Andy did with Sharleen*. That's definitely not something you should feel bad about! 😄But maybe emphasize a little more sometimes that you guys got lucky, and that not every successful relationship has to start with such instant certainty as yours.

Oh yes, when I have my ROCD episodes I often obsess about Andy and Sharleen's start and how easy their relationship and communication is. And I ask myself should I find something like that or that's just their story and I have mine. Please bring more guests to speak about ROCD, it's such an important subject

    • @Rachel-rs7jn

@@mudrica_blog Oh gosh, I would definitely say it's the latter. ❤❤I'm sure they have their struggles that they just don't want to air. You will have a relationship that has different struggles, not more or fewer, just different ones. I have a really happy relationship that looks pretty different from theirs (and I'm honestly grateful I met him before I started watching this channel, because I worry I wouldn't have given him as much of a chance if I'd had in my head that my relationship should look like theirs).

I couldn’t love you two more. Dear Shandy is the only podcast I keep coming back to. So educational, but also fun… and also quite conversational now that I think about it. ‘Tis edu-sational, as Andy so eloquently put it. :)

Sharleen I've noticed you shift in your seat when you get really excited about an answer and have some meaty follow-ups you want to ask, like at 17:27. 😄I love it because I know the conversation's about to go deeper!

After failed relationships where I put everything on the commitment, I found myself in my current relationship looking for constant validation from my partner and trying to constantly validate her myself. I was often let down and lead to doubt. What o realized that as long as both of us are committed and love each other, then any disagreements can be seen as working on the relationship and not as a red flag. It’s a paradigm shift, but it helped.

You don't need to have obsessions and compulsions to have OCD. It can be a purely obsessional form.
