    Dale, I love that you're so invested in this project! I should hire you on! So 1) we got that bead board for a serious bargain, but we purposely got B-grade board for this project because of the price. 2) We're adding Tony's labor in at the end (but dont worry, he WILL get paid!) and 3) you're right, but this stuff isn't flimsy. I really am just not worried about it waving as long as we have good support (which I sure think we do.) Keep checking in, we appreciate your questions!

    Just for giggles, I priced it out in the insane world of today, $49 per sheet.

    You know, my brother and his wife are pretty easy-going, but they've definitely been part of the decision making project. Joyce and I were talking about bathroom tile types just last week and Chris has been down to the house almost every day. So far, I think they like it!

    I must admit that we're not doing great on budget, but we shot a video just the other day explaining where we are and so I hope you'll keep watching for when we do reveal our numbers in an upcoming episode.

    Bead board is beautiful. It exudes that "cottagey" flavour you're going for. I really can't wait to see the finished product. Still, again, why don't you post the budget at the beginning of the clips anymore?

    Oh another thing. I notice you seem to always have trouble estimating how much material you need to buy or how the pricing works out. All you need to know is the dimensions of the material, in this case bead board, which is 4'x8'=32sq.ft. Divide the total sq.ft. required by that number (1400/32 = 43.75). Always remember to round up. That means you need at least 44 sheets of bead board. You should add 5-10% extra for waste as well, just to be on the safe side. Hope that helps.

      Remember the ceiling, unless 1,400 sqft was the grand total that included ceiling.

    Will do. The way I see it, even if you do go over I'd still consider the challenge a success since if it got viewers to think outside the box when it comes to using unconventional finishes, etc. then mission accomplished. As we all know, in any construction there will always be overages so it's to be expected.

    Ok...Ok.... sure you are going for the Chic look. Good for you and your brother.
    I do have 3 comment / points today.
    1) WOW $12.00 for bead Board Never seen it that cheep. HD sells it for $23.
    2) Why won't you calculate Tony’s labor to install these alternatives?
    3) Bead board is thin. How are you going to keep it from waving?
    Just keeping it real my friend!

    My husband and I wanted to use this on our basement ceiling but I read you have to have drywall as a fire code - can anyone explain how I can use this without drywall behind it??

    • @acesalley918
      @acesalley918 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are correct. You'd have to do both. I think they can get away with it because they aren't dealing with inspections and/or the codes for that area are not specified regarding this subject.
