Thanks Kevin, it was a pretty good day. It got busy near the end with swimming which caused some frustrations... So I think I'll need to pick my times in the future... People swimming there just aren't used to having anglers and don't even think about it...
Had that happen at Carrickalinga a couple of times with swimmers and a bunch of kids who worked their way down the beach in front of us. @@MattsFishingEscapes
I had this one lady swimming past, so I pulled the rods in... Then she popped her head up, right in the middle of where I was... She saw I was fishing. I said she could keep going... Which she did. THEN, just as she has passed and I had casted back out she decided to turn around! 🤦♂️
Great video Matt! Interesting way to catch squid- i can think of quite a few areas up here in Sydney that it could be used . I have been meaning to try some soft plastics on a paternoster rig off my local beaches - every time I plan a trip though it seems to either be blowing its A hole off or the swell is too big .
Hiya, I got mine abot 12 - 18 months ago from Super Cheap Auto: www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-camp-cart/581711.html It's been good. But for the beach if it's soft not so much. I've looked at upgrading to the types of carts they use beach fishing in the USA. Not cheap though...
Well done. Just found your channel and have now subscribed. I like how you try something different. I’ll give beach fishing more of a go down there at Somerton now.
Thanks for the support, Tim! Give it a go! Let me know how you go. Yes, I like trying new things and new locations. It doesn't always work... but that's fishing!
For the whiting, I'm using a TCurve Surf 3-6kg with a Stradic 4000. Spooled with 12lb tasline. The one for the squid is a penn combo. 8500ss reel with 20lb mono.
🤣 No, but plenty of people around. We edited out the frustrating swimmers and snorkellers. To be fair, they aren't used yo anglers fishing from the beach.

Yeah it's a good way to do it and saves being shoulder to shoulder on the jetty.
good stuff Matt
Thanks Emanuel! 😊
Great video as always Matt, catching squid that close to the city, amazing!!! Going to have to try that when I'm over there in a week or so!!
Cheers, yes, a little different way of doing it compared with just going off the jetty... I hope the new caravan goes well for ya!
At Torquay, Vic for the next 2 nights, then start the westward journey
nice work keep it up hopefully you do well
Hey thanks! I appreciate the support. I love sharing my fishing and hope to inspire others to try new things as I often am.
What is the little cart you use and how do you rate it?

Hey Matt, just wanted to ask, what rod and reel are you using in this video

I live around the corner, now I'm keen to catch squid along there!
Fantastic, that's what I want to do; inspire people! Go for it! Tight lines.
No dead people up against the rocks?
