Hey matt I was wondering , if Marino Rocks is better for squid or Brighton Jetty because lately theres been lots of seals and stingrays at Brighton Thank you.
Probably not much between them... depends how much fishing pressure each area has had recently. Why not try off the beach at Somerton Beach... should be less swimmers now it's cooling down!
I go down to the rocks at Marino regularly mate and i always caught squid but not much luck with anything else rock cod and stuff! I’m trying to get a snook or something on the lure but no luck yet 😢
They are definitely there... at Port Vincent off the break water, the snook seems to be more active near the bottom of the low... so that may be worthwhile trying... but I don't know if I have the budget to lose too many more lures 🤣
I had two rods... the main one was a T Curve Surf, 11' 3-6KG with Stadic 4000 reel with 12lb braid, 12lb leader. I've dropped it since to 10lb... You want a decent cast to cover as much ground as possible. But then it's also a trade off with Snook teeth and snags around the rocks. I'm no expert... but that's what I've gone with.
Great stuff mate we all have tough days im on a bad run myself atm. Another excellent edit, video quality an presentation again top notch. Love your work as always matty 👍
Cheers Lowy! Yeah, better to be out there fighting the good fight than festering away at home. Looking forward to the next upload from you! Thanks for the positive feedback on the edit. I am learning new things every video.
@@MattsFishingEscapes definitely mate always good to be fishing. An my new vid will be up maybe tonight but was tough going by my usual standards i seem to be n a rut atm.
Did Marino once from the rocks and never again, it's a money pit for losing jigs and gear. lived here along the coast of Adelaide for my 62 years, from Glenelg to Largs and down South
@@MattsFishingEscapes From memory it was in the car park area above the boat ramp but it has been a long long time now. Might have to get down there one day and have a look around again.
maybe cast n retireve some 2.5 - 3.0 jigs next time you fish the shallows. might have a bit more control over what the line is doing. Id like to try down there but im more of a yorkes fan.
I had a short session there once... Pre YT Channel... Found it to be a horrible break wall to traverse along... What would you suggest is the best to target down there?
Hey Oli, it would be great to go on a session together! You certainly do quite well on your vids! Is Marino land based better on outgoing or incoming tide?
These days I treat the weather report like I treat a comedy skit- I read it , laugh my head off at it then move on. 🤣🤣 I have the same Daiwa sling bag , found it too cumbersome for lure fishing ( as a stand alone all in one lure bag anyway ) as it was too small but as an egi / ajing bag it might be better ! I could throw that over my shoulder , grab my egi set up , a light flick stick , a bucket and do the wharf hopping thing by ferry to catch squid and yakkas .
Yeah a bit of a rant to start the video! I do try and check the weather, wind specifically, when choosing my landbased spots, it's so important... But then... I heard that wind is predicted on a 60km squared basis and isn't really adjusted that much for natural barriers like mountains etc so can be quite inaccurate... But who knows... It's a guide, not a sure thing... EVER!
Sorry about that. Bit strange that after 11k views and 160 odd comments that you're the only one that's had this issue. But I appreciate you sharing your experience.
Keep it up! As an ex-pat Adelaidian living in Canada - I appreciate seeing some of the local haunts in SA! Thank you for sharing!
Oh hey! That's great to hear. Any particular spots you want me to try then please let me know! I hope you're loving living in Canada!
Easily the best fishing channel out there!
Haha thanks. I think we all bring a different aspect to the content available... Appreciate the support.
hi sion
Great effort and realist view of Adelaide based fishing opportunities
Keeping it real! It's always worth trying though...
You just gotta keep trying Matt. Perseverance and patience will eventually pay off.
Yep persistence pays dividends.
Gotta love mariono, some massive squid come
Yeah I have caught some big ones there myself in the past!
@@MattsFishingEscapes somerton worked, 1 small and q big squid and a huge whiting
@@cruzcampbell7564 that's awesome, thanks for letting me know.
Mirrors my own night/evening experiences at Marino. nice view not a lot else. Really appreciate the video through.
I'm sure people do catch stuff down there... 🤣
How do you get to there any carpark nearby?
Park on the Esplanade or The Marino Rocks Boatramp.
I've seen a cluster of squid follow a Yozuri jig as it was cast through the air.
Nice!
Yeah well done Matt better than sitting in front of the TV keep going you'll crack it sooner than later tight lines.👍🐳
Just fighting the good fight!

What rod/reel set up did you use during this video and what pound line do you recommend for this kind of fishing, great video 😊

So let me guess... you caught a 40cm flatty and a 80cm mully and was disappointed? haha...

Definitely! It can be quite frustrating no doubt.
I've spearfished down at the rocks and the amount of jigs I found was awesome.
Fishing is great for the soul & bad for our pockets. But we still bloody love it. Dam all my fish emojis have disappeared. Tight lines
Can't take the money with ya... so... I spend it....🤣

Cheers, if Im anything, I'm all for keeping it real! Cheers 4 tha support!
2 hour round trip + lost tackle would have got you a couple of nice tuna steaks from the fish monger.
Sure would have! 🤣
Expensive squid🦑
Sure was, but always satisfying!
First comment yay
Thanks Hoops! Love ya work!
Spent some of my teenage years living right near there.
Used to be an awesome fish and chip shop there but I think it burned down years ago.
Yeah it's a good spot. I am not sure about the fish and chips shop... Haven't noticed one.

Why don’t you have a chat to the weather because it’s not acting the way the weatherman predicted
