    Brilliant video again. Love the idea of the measure mark on the rod.

      Thank you! I mainly do it to save on carrying extra equipment with me. Also I tend to make the minimum size limit bigger than what it’s meant to be, in this video I had the length set to 33cm for the King George Whiting even though the limit is 32cm.

    Thanks really enjoy your fishing trips, myself and my 10 year old have been working hard gaining our local knowledge due to moving from interstate. Can’t just seem to crack the yellowfin other than the odd one. We have done ok on the salmon off Waitpinga great experience for the young bloke. We do ok on the crabs, getting better at getting the worms but the yellowfin have been a challenge. Thanks again great state and city for fishing.

      Due to a lot of problems stopping me from getting out fishing I haven’t even caught a Yellowfin Whiting this season! I think next season, if it warms up early, will be a lot better and the fish will be easier to find! I hope to start getting back out fishing and making videos mid Feb, fingers crossed I can find some Yellows and make some videos again! Best of luck to you and your boy!

      @@scaledupfishing2122 When we moved down here from Vic. some 22 years ago, I fished Normy beach and caught heaps of yellowfin, last few years, they seem to be a whole lot more scarce.

    Nice video Chris its a healthy marine environment there. Do you typically only find the whiting shallow during summer or year round?

  • @SB-fd1kv
    @SB-fd1kv 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That's awesome Chris, I didn't know KG whiting were so shallow around that area! How do you find the catch bag in the shallows, do the crabs eat the fish you catch? Also I wanted to ask if the reel you use is water resistant or sealed? because when i have fished in the shallows i have sometimes dropped my reel in the water, then had to pull it apart and clean it out with WD40. Thanks

    • @scaledupfishing2122
      @scaledupfishing2122  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      At low tide the area is still covered by at least 2m (6 foot) of water, so there is plenty of water for the fish. I have caught KG Whiting in under 1m (3 foot) of water over Yorke Peninsula before and they are much bigger fish! I haven’t had too many problems with the catch bag but I did notice a crab running around up current from me looking for the scent, if crabs etc become a problem just add some sort of floatation to the bag. Even an empty drink bottle will hold your fish up off the bottom.
      No, the reels I use aren’t water sealed or resistant! I just try my best to make sure I don’t dunk them! Last summer season I did drop my TD Advantage 2000 in the water, so as soon as I got home I ran it under freshwater first and then used Lanox to lubricate and disperse the water. It’s going ok but I need to get another reel to replace it soon and I’ll cover that in another video.
