Came here to say this, just have it keep projection too. He could also just use one projector and move the offset a couple times. I'd start adding bays off to the sides after those sections are done, it's already getting long
It might be worth trying to duplicate your mining ship and swapping out the drills with welders. What you did a few days ago with the spinning drill ship, you could do the exact same thing with the welder ship and it would instantly weld up most of the tunnel. Those welders for ships have a very surprisingly large range. Very easily welds multiple large blocks at once. And your tunnel pieces already have the conveyor network running through it to easily pull materials out of storage. Very excited to see the rest of this series. Can’t wait for your first ship printer project. Haha!
The problem with that is that alot of the components needs LARGE conveyer ports as does the welders. He uses a lot of small ones on the mining ship which means that the components won't get through his ship and into the welders. So he would still need to change his entire ship, meaning it would just be easier to build a new one.
If you go into the projector settings and select show buildable only it reduces lag and makes it easier to see which block is next. Also great when you’re printing a ship (gets all the crannies welded)
Quick bit on the platinum, you can get it on planets two other ways. If you have meteors turned on, random meteors will hit the ground on occasion and they have random ores in small amounts including platinum and uranium. Enough to make your better tools but not much more. The other way is buying it from stores. Each faction has its' own specialties like gases and ores. These on occasion will sell platinum. Hope that helps Skye 😁
Love that you can build easier and more quickly, I love the design choices you’ve gone for and the colors! Can’t wait for the big hub and how you set up the manufacturing
Skye, this is the best video series I've ever seen. Your learning curve is phenomenal! Here's a single tip that I think will help you: there's a mod called Paint Gun. It is very simple and super easy to use. By the way, it doesn’t change the game a lot because this mod adds a Paint Gun hand tool, giving an easier and more immersive way of coloring and skinning blocks.
@Sky said: "You might say it's well worth it" But I would've said: "it's WELD worth it!" (My nieces think I'm hilarious. That's right, I'm not a father, but I still tell dad jokes, which is a faux pas)
Daily positive comment If you have a bad day, just watch a Skye video. You'll enjoy the Heck out of it however your day is going. Also remember to pet Picture 😊
If you aren't looking to save the stone, you can try your hand at warheads to make nice clean spherical holes. I did that once for a vertical launch shaft. Large Grid warheads do a 20m diameter hole and small grid does maybe 10m?--been so long I forget, but LG=big, SG=small. Worth testing in a creative world for grins to see before committing to the main base. Unbuilt blocks to scaffold in place to where you want, won't lose much in resources at that.
Love it, dude! You could add the projector to the blueprint, too! Very nice tunnel. Your ship may look like a hotdog in that hallway if it's too big. 😉
Great tip about the thrusters, thanks. Not sure how much grinding "inventory management" you require, but you can attach a welder directly to your base via converyors and just let it get on with it. NOTE: it will be build everything that is connected, so you would lose the girder look of your roof struts, but a welder can get into those places that are out of reach if you have built layers/levels. If you think your elite welder tool is quick........
Ive always loved building into the mountains or in the ground. I once built inside a crater on the moon. It was fun. Might want to just make the blueprint of your mining ship and just attach welders instead. The issue is large steel tubes metal grids and a couple other components will only go through the large (smallgrid) conveyor. So the weld ships become unwieldy pretty quickly I think there might be a couple mods you might be interested in that IMO dont break immersion. But ultimately its your game dont want to make it too cheaty feeling. 1. Vcs multifloor elevators (adds a player elevator) 2. Build vision and build info. (Worth watching someone explain how it works cause it’s nice but more button combinations to figure out) 3. Mechanical keybinds (lets you assign blocks and groups to keybinds for a cockpit) can make pistons and rotors respond to wasd or mouse aiming. Pretty cool for making articulating arm ships.
Looking good. Just a reminder SE save file will grow ever larger the more you change the voxal count. It remembers everything. This is just in case you start to strip mine. Also do it a fair amount away if you automate it fps will drop.
Looking amazing! Excited for what’s to come. Liked the format, as well. With this kind of game, the (thought) process is more than the end result. Too much heavy editing spoils that and I imagine a shorter summary/update is less labour intensive on your part too. Just as a feedback.
When you get towards the end of the tunnel, you should put some rings of warning blocks around it so you know when to slow down. Plus it will look cool and break up the colour a bit
hey man, played this game a while back and used a mod think it was called like building bots or something like that. Don't know if it's still up to date but what it did is auto weld any bp you put down attached to the basse as long as you had ressources. Super quality of life, it's like having employees basicly and allows you to do something else while everything is building
usefull tips #1 -Gravel takes a lot of space in the begining better not store it, if you dig holes and keep the said rock you gonna get a lot of it -Blueprints can be automated, i done a tunel boring machine with welders that done all the job of doing tunnel and building it -Big welders are the way to go these are faster and soon you will find out that its not pratical (vanilla) to carry stuff like bateries components
Please, @SkyeStorme!. Add big block welders and a pre-set projector to your blueprints and the base prints itself. No fiddling with the handheld welder, just Van Neumann the base. Make a section with a drill array and welders, and you can place that, let it be welded up so you only have to activate the drills and propulsion method.
So if you just increase the offset on the projector you can reuse one rather than build another every time. And when you build a welding ship you will be kicking yourself compared to the elite welder. Useful for both though when building long flat areas, face the block and strafe when welding/grinding, much easier and quicker than pointing at an angle at them
I thought you’d offload ore deliveries in the main hanger and the conveyor belts would deliver to the central core You would then have smaller transport vehicles to get around down the transfer corridor and around the base The new corridor does remind me of a hyperspace jump corridor, perhaps you could make some mini falcons
the tunnel when flying thru i do not think will get boring i think it would look really cool for ship or maybe a rover driving thru to get to different sections of the base maybe have some side turning areas i am like you i really like doing hand welding sense of building with my own hands
Never hurts to have a progress report. As for tunnel length, why not just leave it at a total of seven sections? Not too short, not too long, and couldn't hurt to have a little bit of luck built in, lol. The mountainside observation deck is a great idea, and I think one should be added at the very top as well. Two stories at least, one of which should be a full 360-degree panoramic level with windows the whole way around. Another level could act as a sort of ATC deck, especially if there's anything you could use as consoles to give the appearance of traffic control. And a base where multiple ships fly in and out definitely needs a control tower!
imagine when skye finds out about the nanite mod. also you must have not explored building a temporary small welding ship only with vanilla blocks. finally my suggestion would be to dig behind the inner docking bay you have on the left when you enter the base to add thing from rooms eetc player related to batteries hydrogen engines containers refiner assemblers etc.
Just wondering why you wouldn't leave the ceiling as bare rock to save on steel plates and such? Other than the whole OCD thing, which I get. Fun series to watch! Thanks, Picture! Oh, and you too, Skye!
I never played this game becurse i get motion sickness, but it looks cool and I Can manage to Watch sky Play, so Manu il try, nice White the elite Werder sky👍🏻
I think that it would be reasonable to set up temporary drilling stations to dig out behind where the walls of the tunnel will be to get enough resources to build the walls. It will be hidden by the walls, and you can always repurpose the space in the future if you want to.
You don't need a welding ship, take the mining dhip, replace the drills with welders and Hey presto!!! Faster and cheaper in both materials and time. Though I do believe that using the elite welder is faster than using a welding ship anyway. Edit: Nope , just thought, you have small conveyors on the mining ship perfect for ores but many components will not pass though small conveyors.
if you make the conveyor line first then you have easy inventory access ... if you make the cargo container on one side a connector pointing up you can attach you drill rig /welder rig to the conveyor system .... just use a pair of pistonsor three stacked on top of each other ... (--> ) so you can push 30 ft forward name them something like bottom middle top ... start by turning on middle at 0.1 speed for drilling and welding ... when it reaches 10m do bottom ... when that reaches 10m do top ... when that reaches 10m reverse all 3 pistons ... you could even make a car with the conector and drive and weld and dig as you the car part uses a connector to the drill ship and poof drill rig .... add drills if needed ... just behind the pistons sits the welder line pointing outwards ... and on the rear just after the connector the storage bins of parts and ore for balance .... then its drive connect extend pistons .... retract when done disconnect move forward reconnect .... drive slowly as you will be welding as you move up ... a conveyor sorter is handy for this sort the parts needed to build a section into the one cargo and sort ores out the second one ... this way there is always some "junk in the trunk"
I didn't realise how lucky i was, I had a crashed ship just 7km from my starting location, 3 industrial cargo containers I could raid on it and there was a hefty source of platinum, and some gold and silver and over 700 thruster comp if I do run low I now know 😅 fortunate because I've been searching for gold and silver in the ground with no luck for actual days now
Fun fact, you can place the projector with the blueprint and offsets, and make that part of your blueprint
Came here to say this, just have it keep projection too. He could also just use one projector and move the offset a couple times.
I'd start adding bays off to the sides after those sections are done, it's already getting long
Your missing out on exponential growth on the length of blueprint you could use first 1 then 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 probably more than long enough
@@m14srv yeah but you don't exponentially increase your welding speed unless you use welding blocks or something
It might be worth trying to duplicate your mining ship and swapping out the drills with welders. I am really loving this series, appreciate your efforts Skye! Completely hooked, hope you and picture have a great weekend
Reminds me of the launch tubes on Battlestar Galactica!

I really like these videos. I'm a space need and like building games.
The small update was great. Loved the R&D video in Timber Born.

Love it can't wait to see tunel up you'll have a front door and back door to shagerdeep
Love it, dude! You could add the projector to the blueprint, too! Very nice tunnel. Your ship may look like a hotdog in that hallway if it's too big. 😉
i learnt 2 thing in this episode, one how to get plat, and 2 the projector! game changer!
Great tip about the thrusters, thanks.

That tunnel is gorgeous
Small feeling of BattleStar Galactica with that passage :)
Looking amazing! Excited for what’s to come.

Appreciate the update, agree with not making the tunnel too long
When you get towards the end of the tunnel, you should put some rings of warning blocks around it so you know when to slow down. Plus it will look cool and break up the colour a bit

now all is coming together
Grats on first ;)
I liked that update... the base is looking really nice... and for the welder... you're the professional here 😂 you teach me how this game works 😊
So if you just increase the offset on the projector you can reuse one rather than build another every time. And when you build a welding ship you will be kicking yourself compared to the elite welder.

Btw… when you cut the vertical shaft for mountaintop power, you should name that “Shagger Well”.

well done, impressive work, you oculd speed it up by using a welding ship
Just wondering why you wouldn't leave the ceiling as bare rock to save on steel plates and such? Other than the whole OCD thing, which I get.
Fun series to watch! Thanks, Picture! Oh, and you too, Skye!
For the looks :)
I'ts like you need a dockable platform that moves the ship down the corridor for you, look pretty cool as well.
I never played this game becurse i get motion sickness, but it looks cool and I Can manage to Watch sky Play, so Manu il try, nice White the elite Werder sky👍🏻
Its an exit onlyvtunnel/launch tunnel. Get your inner gundam/top gun/swat kats going
A Interaction for the Interaction God, a Comment for the Comment Throne, for the Almighty Algorithm
Some stores do sell platinum sometimes
I think that it would be reasonable to set up temporary drilling stations to dig out behind where the walls of the tunnel will be to get enough resources to build the walls. It will be hidden by the walls, and you can always repurpose the space in the future if you want to.
Looks like you need to make a Battlestar Galactica Viper to zip down the tunnel ... :)
You don't need a welding ship, take the mining dhip, replace the drills with welders and Hey presto!!! Faster and cheaper in both materials and time. Though I do believe that using the elite welder is faster than using a welding ship anyway.

then its drive connect extend pistons .... retract when done disconnect move forward reconnect .... drive slowly as you will be welding as you move up ... a conveyor sorter is handy for this sort the parts needed to build a section into the one cargo and sort ores out the second one ... this way there is always some "junk in the trunk"
Question: can you make a blueprint with the projector preset and calibrated to save time?
it cost half a million
its well worth it
missed opportunity for a pun!!!
its worth it
If you ever need a water source I hope you call it Shagger well 😂
I thought you had build a welding ship when I read the title 😄
You should build a small flying welding machine
I forgot to mention if you use Vaseline you move faster down the back passage
you could make a platform on rails land your ship and hall it back
Window walls mod for the ice lake look out.
Could've built a piston powered welding machine to welding up the tunnel.
Love your videos but could your order your playlist into release order please.. 😊
Fixed it. Thanks for the heads up! :)
How deep is the mountain? Are you getting close to coming out the other side?
The mountain goes on for miles :)
It's awesome, why dont you play this game sooner ??? 😂
9sections @sky 9 sections keep the balance 42 is the answer
Definitely need a welding ship
I didn't realise how lucky i was, I had a crashed ship just 7km from my starting location, 3 industrial cargo containers I could raid on it and there was a hefty source of platinum, and some gold and silver and over 700 thruster comp if I do run low I now know 😅 fortunate because I've been searching for gold and silver in the ground with no luck for actual days now
Honestly 5 sections are more than enough I think
get to space asap. i spent too long on earth
welding ship > elite welder.
Timberborn Timberborn Timberborn Timberborn........
Offsets are seven and seven? We're not getting into that friends nonsense again?!
I almost want to say the game a that shall not be named so this game series would go longer.
because it would have been faster with a piston driven large block welder
fun fact, why build something that does noting
