    That kerbal is traumatised for life
    The deep ocean is scary enough through a screen, but being alone in a crushing alien void slowly drifting up from the bottom of the ocean for hours would make that that kerbal fear the ocean for the rest of his days. And considering youve trapped him on a mostly ocean planet you deserve worse than a law suit.

    My unprofessional reasoning for the liquid water on lathe would be that there are massive tidal forces acting on lathe due to the other moons. And maybe lathe is EXTREMELY geologically active? That way it could be still really cold in the atmosphere but the sea (with probably a very high salt content) would be kept liquid by those forces?

    To answer how water would exist: Tidal heating caused by tidal friction/flexing. The same forces scientists believe may keep Europa's subsurface oceans warm. Given the closer proximity of Laythe to Jool, it could be assumed this process is amplified to the point of having surface water. Additionally, the heat from the water would be radiating into the atmosphere, warming up the planet.

    I started playing ksp about a week ago and getting into space was really easy for me. The maneuver mode was hard for me though. After watching your videos and a ton of practice I made my first full and consistent orbit around kerbin! I am nowhere near good but the practice and watching your videos is helping me a ton. Im understanding the maneuver mode more every day.

  • @billrowe8718

    Regarding the mystery of how Laythe is warmer than it should be: it’s clear to me that Lowne Aerospace has terraformed the planet inadvertently by dumping a bunch of nuclear stages into the atmosphere. The resultant decay heat from all that nuclear material keeps the ocean liquid

    I believe Laythe is habitatble because it's in the orbit of a gas giant (Jool) and the gas giant is heating Laythe's core and helps Laythe keep a strong magnetic field; If you've seen the movie avatar it would be like that. Pandora an Earth sized moon orbits a gas giant named polyphemus

    Can you make a tutorial on tips for KSP cause I would like some.

  • @arkeyionthefurry2721
    @arkeyionthefurry2721 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ok, I'm going to explain how laythe has liquid water. First it's position in the Jool system and in-between tylo and Jool. Tylo has large a gravity well and Jool (being a gas giant) also has a huge gravitational pull. The large gravity of these body's will kind of pull on laythe. Think of it like a kneed of dough. As you pull on the dough, it expands and retracts causing friction and would theoretically allow for laythe to hold liquid water. Second, Jool is a likely a "brown giant". That means (even though it's green) it's a failed star. That means that Jool does create heat and would theoretically be able to heat laythe to a point of liquid water. Last, laythe might have a core that creates much more heat than something like kirbin. So in conclusion, it is very possible and not that hard to explain. (Also I may make a video that explains this in detail) P.S. Ur my fav KSP YT channel. Keep up the good work!

  • @wChris_

    Why is Laythe so habitable? 2 theses
    1. severe greenhouse gases in the atmosphere keep the "warmth" on the planet
    2. strong geological activity, heating the planet from the inside

    The reason for the habitable atmosphere and temperature might have something to do with the core, the planet may have formed rather recently. The core might be hot enough to sustain life.

    • @Graham226
      @Graham226 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another explanation might be a thicker atmosphere with gasses in the same ratio as Kerbin, but that won’t explain why Kermans can remove their helmets as atmospheric pressure would be to high to not wear a pressure suit

    Well there's a theory that if the planet has a dense enough atmosphere or magnetic field it could potentially be able to have a warm surface. Example of what I'm trying to say would be Venus. Venus has a hotter surface that Mercury. Theoretically with the right contents in the atmosphere you could have a warm planet despite it's distance from it's star

    Please lower the thrust on your sepratrons. I think it looks nicer and cleaner when the onion tanks gradually move away, as opposed to explosively repelling.

    fun fact: *laythe was habitable because of its geothermal activity melting the ice and warming the atmosphere*

    You should really, properly, check that atmosphere. With a quad-copter piloted aircraft, with luxurious cabin for few researchers to take swigs of their expensive Laythe-springwaters. Or tilt-wing very least. It could even serve as plane between seabase and landbase.
