    Its so awesome to watch musicians of this caliber,the drummer,bassist and keybard player all obviously know the song but watch how they keep their eyes on Paul to see any subtle changes he makes on the fly and adapt to them...Pure Musicianship...These guys are fire...

    It is a tribute to his skill as an artist that Paul solos for over fives minutes and rarely repeats the same musical phrase/idea...unless of course he is playing the melody. His mastery of the instrument is simply stunning. His improvisational flow is crazy good. He's been a special talent since his metal days in Racer X. He's only improved with age.

    • @TheMrCC21
      @TheMrCC21 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He has said that blues has helped his ear, intervals, and whatnot. He has gotten sick of metal because a lot of players just sweep. Not saying he doesn't play metal, but they don't do anything unique or different.

    • @sideparting6845
      @sideparting6845 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TheMrCC21 Thanks, this is very interesting. I did not know this. I got into PG because of his articulate shredding and don't find his blues playing or tone so captivating (although it's great!).
      Bizarrely Satriani has always been rooted in the blues and it was his melodic hummable phrasing that I find easier to listen to; perhaps it is the repetitive nature of his melodies (eg some form of "chorus" in a song) instead of the "let's go on a journey for a song" form that PG is taking here.
      Anyway very enjoyable, although heading into a middley nasally tone these days.

    • @Melodeath00
      @Melodeath00 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No disrespect to PG, he's an eternal master and will always be one of the greats, but that's a very stupid statement. The last decade has been a golden age for Metal as far as innovation and experimentation is concerned.
      And yes, please name one good Metal player that just sweeps.

    Violent bends. Violent and unique sounding. Especially at 2:11. I have never heard a bend like that. Ever. Part of it his guitar and rig. It lends itself to playing how he is playing. His guitar has a hot and cold side in his hands. It is interesting. I have never heard that either. It sounds like jazz one minute, and then it lights up another minute if he plays the 3rd string. That is where it sounds best on any electric guitar. The 3rd string, in the key of C right in the middle of the guitar where it bends a lot better. You can get drunk and the bends almost automatically come out perfect every time. In that position, playing a pentatonic scale, on the 8th and 10th fret, it is like the notes almost click into place on bends. Like it just automatically wants to go in tune, and it is hard to get it out of tune there. LIke a magical force field of be-in-tune-ness. Give it a try. There's a reason ZZ Top switch the solo to C on La Grange, and that is because soloing in A sucks and soloing in C is great. And hey, they got a lot of nice girls out there.

    Good lord that song had it all, tasty tasty licks, jazz scatting, little shred runs here and there, freaking awesome. Paul always keeps it new and most importantly great. I have the single coil version of his guitar, wish I had the mini hum that looks really cool. Bass, keys, and drummer are outstanding too.

    Not my style usually but i liked this track. More on expression that flash. Nice expressive work. I sniffed a lil Frank Marino with some of the muffled staccato work. Great production with a tight and relax band. Don't know any of those guys but it is obvious that they have been around the block a few times.
