  • A splendid strategy against slouching shoulders, rounded posture, forward head posture, as well as being overly arched or too tense.

As far as the format goes, I assume you want us to start just as soon as you've given the directions, which means we start "blind" - i.e., without seeing what you're doing. That obviously led me to starting out in a different way than I saw you starting out when you began to do the movements. (For example, you seemed to start by holding your head in the first movement, whereas I just started by lifting my head without my hands.) But based on the all the other videos of yours that I've watched, my suspicion is that this is exactly what you want - for us to sort of discover the movements for ourselves first, and only later check in to see if we are doing them "correctly."

Yes, exactly, please make your own discoveries and explorations, do not copy what I am doing 😅👍🏻
For example, this morning I did this lesson again, and I did it differently: I moved much less, actually didn‘t even lift the head at all.

I do that,in many of your videos, but, this one threw me off, because , I kept forgetting that this time , I was not aware I would have been doing that.

Hi Alfons, great to have another video from you. I really liked this format once i got used to it. I found it worked best for me to listen then watch then play with the movements after that. At first I missed having your voice to instruct me at the same time as doing the movements but then i really enjoyed the silence and the ability to give my full attention to my own experience. I learned a lot from seeing you give your full attention to your experience then hearing you describe that afterwards. It guided me in tuning in to my own body as I experimented with the movements. It also made me more creative as i had a general guide but was not in step with a sequence i was being guided through but rather could follow my own inner guidance. With the longer explorations you did I watched it section by section, then tried something similar. I found myself paying more attention to the types of exploration you were doing rather than trying to do exactly the same movements. I also found it easier to do a similar movement at my own level rather than unconsciously pushing to do what you had done. The observing experience was rather like watching nature, or an art form, It was like a form of improvisation. I notice that movements reminded of creatures, such as some kind of powerful reptile when on the belly. I liked the images and they helped me when moving in similar ways myself to embody the experience of natural movement. I liked feeling like a lizard or crocodile!

I was a bit nervous with the open format. I still need someone to tell me to do less and feel more! It's so hard for me not to try too hard! Enjoyed it anyway. You're pretty much always fun.

Thank you for a fascinating exploration. I had to watch you first but then I discovered it was so much easier to lift my head and extend if I lightly press my elbows away from me (I guess the shoulders blades get out of the way of the spine) and for the lower half I had to focus on my knees... there are tricks and then treats but it pays to be careful because you can't force these movements...

The reason I down fingered this is, I fell back hurt my hip, lower back, pelvis area, when iwas listening, waiting for you to. speak, Ifinally was able to look and your were moving.
The I was pleased, but, then I thought it helped, but it hurts again. So I will need more time.
Yes it seems to be a very good. movement, I was able to move what I could not at first, very interesting, thank you, Alfonse.

Hi there! At first I found the new format a bit strange then I started to like it, agree with the other comments about it. Guess what... I had stopped watching your videos in the last year or so, and I had very happily registered for a 4 year Feldenkrais training in France, starting soon... and then came the virus... and bcs I am in Brazil, a country with a weak economy that will colapse even more with the virus hitting us now... I guess I have to say bye bye to the training... and here I am again watching your channel!!! I am going to buy the books, by the way.
About the practice - the last part on the belly was quite strong and interesting, it felt it reached somewhere deep down at the bottom of my lungs (I even cought...) / top of my stomach which had been quite uncomfortable from time to time... it felt intense during the practice but now it feels good... hummmm...

Thank you for sharing this story here, yes, it’s challenging times. And I’m glad to have you back! I’m also more into videos now, again :) I think my books will help you create a deeper understanding, in a way that is light but deep, fun but serious, and connect some dots that usually are hard to connect ... which will benefit you later once the lock down ends and life and trainings start again

I tried to float both feet up and then ‘come to land’ like in feet 5....very hard and then after a while not hard at all. Big effect on the flexors right in the hip crease. As feedback, I think you as a presenter and coach are more ‘in flow’ when you are commenting as you do the movements (or as you watch someone do the movements).

thank you, yes, I have the same experience. even when doing just a few repetitions the lessons have a big effect on me while filming and presenting. it seems that verbalising what I do and experience adds an extra layer of goodness (or health benefits..)

The small movement makes the back of my neck contract or move.
That along with the little arching movement in my back.
I I'd not like no tahe fforrmat, but formate ,the different ,ways I can't move,I
But ok to get my own personal feeling, but...
had to look st the video
I did nice small movements , that allowed me tothinki explore and to be aware of my own movements and how else my whole body can work together though, in helping my body move, better thanks
