Yes, I would like to see this for every dungeon/module in this format. Also, a Shadar-Kai Undying Warlock or Duergar Death Domain Cleric or Dhampir Necromancy Wizard would be incredibly effective in this Tomb.
I love the continual mocking of the dungeon and how it's described. Ah yes, the thinking man's dungeon, definitely not designed to kill you no matter how smart you are
“You tried to stop me Gary Gygax, you can’t. The spirit of Gary Gygax attempted to stop this from happening… The power literally turned off” 😂😂😂😂 not even 5 minutes in and you already have me lmao!!!!
The first victim shouldn't feel bad, I died back in the 80's when I first encountered that sphere of annihilation. I only put my head in, nothing vital...argued I could operate without it but dead was dead so my adventure ended fast. :) This was our most hated dungeon run, most fun was Temple of Elemental Evil.
Great video, fun to see an infamous dungeon get a proper revisit. I'd like to see you guys do more classic dungeon adventures like White Plume Mountain or Ghost Tower of Inverness.
The more I see of this dungeon the more I'm convinced the Gygax had an entire group of "that guy" players who won't shut up about how he couldn't kill them and just really wanted to fuck with them and get paid while doing so hence why this was released.
While it would be wonderful, sadly this is not the case. Characters were much more brittle in earlier editions, 5e characters have much more durability than any of the earlier editions. There were no death saves, go negative more than your constitution score and you're dead. Gygax was just being 'that guy' and, true to form, made an unbelievably annoying dungeon.
Whats Crazy is the floor of the first hallway actually has the answer to the complete dungeon, though its in riddles they are not that difficult. If I remember right if you are using a torch the red path easily shows writing on the ground. Also I may be wrong but the room with the gargoyle and infinate doors there was suposed to be falling spikes every couple turns. Not only does the orange mist change sex, it also flips alignment the purpose was to break Paladins. Note: Occer Jelly are Blind with Tremor Sense so cant really sneak on them unless you bait them with noise like throwing a rock behind them, so the table thing was uneeded.
We've always called it The Knack, where something doesn't work and then The Computer Guy shows up and it suddenly works. I've been the CG for close to three decades I just call it Tech Magic. Great show y'all, enjoying it all, enjoying all the critical thinking.
2:54:00 in the original, that hallway with the three pit traps had the floor covered in grease. So if you weren't careful, you'd slide right through those doors into the pit traps
I will get to the end of this video. I ran this because of your first run in this dungeon. It's a personal goal of mine, now, to see each party I DM get to lvl 20 then go through this dungeon.
I love this! The video, documentary style, was awesome. There's some strange phasing / stereo issues with the audio, however; I had to listen in Mono! (for the first lil bit)
I am watching the VOD to show that I support dungeon delvers and would like to see more :)
:)
❤
I watch because I must 🤌🏼

Once you are on the list of the spirit of Gary Gygax, I am sorry but you are a goner already dude!
This is the first time I've seen Tomb of Horrors look fun. This is a great group and looks like a fun show idea!
A+ work

I’m playing through a campaign of ToEE currently!
I want more dungeon delvers for sureee. It was a good documentary, and I bet an even better vod
7 hours of glorious suffering

Loved the two hour special! Really looking forward to watching the whole thing.

finally it's here 😩😩😩
7 HOUR LONG VIDEO we eating GOOD today babeyyyyy
Are we sure Gary wasn’t just a pre-Internet Troll?
I "watched" the VOD to show support, but also this made for a great listen to-and-from work over the last few days :)
56:26 the explanation contrasting hidden doors and secret doors has jogged my memory of watching jacob's video about ToH years ago
I would love to see more you guys , your playthrough drove my anxiety away this week as I listened in the background while I was studying for my exams
I hope the exams went well.
Thanks so much for the 7 hours of madness. Temple of Elemental Evil next???😅
Gosh I love both this 8 hour version and the one with commentary! You guys are the best!
I've watched the edited version like 3 times already so time to dive into the full vod! I love this group everyone works really well together
An hour and a half in and they have explored 1 hallway and 1 room. So this is a thinking mans dungeon 🧐
Well now that I watched the main channel video twice surely i must watch this as well
Emma's face at 41:42 is so reminiscent of Jacob lmao if I didn't already know they were siblings, I'd know it just from this expression alone

actually fun to watch. especially after seeing the xp vid first with some useful and interesting background info

What is this, some kind of....Tomb of Horros?
Tomb of Hairy Feet.
Really surprised everyone didn't play a rogue.
Day 3 of watching this video, "no, I'm full" as a response to "use the rat" killed me yesterday and I went to sleep
Day 4 of watching this video. Yesterday the highlight was the PISS method. I only have 1:30 left. Will probably finish today.
I will get to the end of this video. I ran this because of your first run in this dungeon. It's a personal goal of mine, now, to see each party I DM get to lvl 20 then go through this dungeon.

I once played in a party that was predominately halflings in an Eberron game, including mine.
That "You snort it??" was so excited.
YES!!! Been waiting for this XD
1:13:57 Corny, but definitely one of my favorite moments lol
At last. Honk shoo nap time 💤 ❤
After whatching all of this I want more
I would absolutely love to see jacob run hidden shrine of tamoachan
Voicing my desire to have more of this in future
Aw yeah. Let's get this started! Probably going to edit this comment at some point in that 7h rollercoaster.
IT'S HERE
I would have been disappointed if the Green Devil would have gotten no one xD
I imagine them all walk out to Donateldes wedding and his entire family
I am so curious as to what would have happened if they gave "Gwin" the crown and staff right when they got them
Wait...didn't the power go out the second you were about to start last time you did ToH also? Am I imagining that?
4:41:30 Noooooooooooo
Very enjoy.
What the hell happened to the lizard's eyes???
Why aren't the players making saving throws for the traps? They just seem to be going off without providing an opportunity to save.
That’s just how some of the traps are written in Tomb of Horrors.
I don't believe Identify reveals curses? 🤔
That is stupid, but true. RAW, it doesn't do the thing that you most want from it, because DnD has a bunch of awful anti-player design elements.
roll to save vs Gygax
Ngl, DMing old style D&D seems soooo boring. Feels like you're literally just a filter between the info on the dungeon and the players
Boost
Had to wait to watch the XP to level 3 vid until I got the VOD. No Spoilers. also to second @MrThaumaturgical dungeon delvers is so cool.
