So the to all the people who want to know the story of this song :D like most of the people already said, its a song about len being a police officer who's joining his commander (kaito) to a popular bar where rin works as a dancer. Len and Rin instantly fall in love, but the thing is Kaito was actually taking Rin for himself (eventually have sex with her) misusing his power as a commander. but even so, Len secretly visited Rin but got caught one night and kaito stabbed one eye of Len after warning him to stay away from Rin. Len walked away but couldn't bear the idea of his beloved Rin getting mistreated by Kaito, so he rushed back only to see how Rin killed Kaito after Kaito tried to make his move. Len was shocked and didn't knew what to do. He knew that Rin killed Kaito because of her love for him, but as a police officer he has to put Rin into jail, and because Rin killed a commander she'll probably be sentenced to death. So the ending of this song is Len walking away because he doesn't want Rin to be dead, but because of the duty as an officer he can't be with Rin anymore. So the last part with Rin singing "If u really love me then don't look back until the day we meet again." is actually her saying goodbye forever. A pretty sad story if you ask me :(

That by itself is not unusual, and it's not technically bad to sustain a relationship, but it sounds to me like what they were worried about was that Len wanted to abandon his position in the military to stay with her, which is a big no-no.

They were originally intended to be twins and then were made mirror images to make character change easier. You're right, as Character Vocal Series Vocaloids, as Vocaloids, they are whatever they are supposed to be in the song that's the whole point(I love all versions of these two!
