yeah! drive video. if your carpets are still dry even after the crap weather then you are doing good. i found on mine, i couldn't open the boot unless i opened one of the rear doors first, this is down to a microswitch in the drivers door. If your central locking packs up, more often than not, it's a break in a wire in the rubber boot between the drivers door and the pillar, other than that, keep on top of the servicing and it will be a faithful workhorse.
The door and window seals are notoriously leaky on these cars as they get older. Other than asking your garage to replace them (sharp intake of breath when I asked my local guys), the only solution, as I've no garage, was to get a cover. (That, and a regular change of old bathtowels with a brick on top, in the rear footwell to soak up the water ingress). The Fabia mk 1 was otherwise pretty decent and reliable, ime (I bought a 4 year-old one in 2008 and had it for a further 14 years), and the bodywork didn't rust much (the underbody more so), that's why there were so many older ones about.
You could still have a lot of water ingress. The rear window shouldn't be wet. You need to remove the side panels in the boot and as someone said, check the rear lights and the air exit vent behind the bumper. Very common points for a leak. As are the doors unfortunately. Putting your hand on the carpet won't tell you much - I've had cars with an inch of water in the carpet underlay/soundproofing and the carpet felt competely dry unless I pushed hard down for 30 seconds or so.
Had someone accidently back into my 2011 Fabia and it was months later I discovered the spare wheel almost floating about under the boot floor. Just one small tap and it was enough to kick off a water reservoir there
Might help someone - I used to own a Skoda Roomster, from time to time noticed water collecting in the spare wheel well. Soaking the rear rear of the car from a hose pipe revealed nothing amis. Over some months I finally discovered the cause was due to a small split in rubber bung in the boot floor (located near to or underneath the spare wheel). Water was gaining entry but only when the vehicle was being driven on wet roads.
oh you featured my comment! thank you!
@@lucythemoggy1970 you are welcome, I didn't want to show the name just in case

@@lucythemoggy1970 thanks for the advice, I'm still getting used to driving the car, especially with the noisy backbox
But see what happens
Another good vid, keep them coming and yes, a drive vid would be good.

Favorit means going back 90s. Early 90s. Fabia means 00x onwards …. Noughties. Lol.
@@zzhughesd hahaha I had a Favorit a few years back, the Low Compression SPI version (135)

Why is the steering wheel on the wrong side?
It's the correct side young man......in the civilised world 😂😂😂😂
Flog the car and buy a cheap Vauxhall Agila 1.2 16v , £35 road tax , higher seating position , low insurance & running costs. Ideal for your ma 👍🏻
