I like it dude. At first I was sceptical about what color and methods. Then you brought back the original picture and that thing wasnt gunna see life ever again, and you did your touch to it and brought it inside your house and it's got a new life. I respect that. Nice work it does look better then excepted. Your style isnt mine but I still think its cool
Astonishing. So many beautiful pieces of furniture like this one (that grain on top is just gorgeous) go to the landfill. Whenever I see something on the curb I stop and load it into the truck, and usually people throw away old pieces of furniture that have good bones and just need some TLC to absolutely shine. (Even if it's a piece of crap I check for interesting hardware.)
I would love to hang out with you . I can't get my hubby or friends to stop and "look for junk" I can spot something and see potential in the piece of furniture I find
@@karenjarrett529 I wish you lived closer (what's the chance of that?) because some furniture is just too heavy for me to load and a friend would be great. I loaded a CHERRY CORNER CABINET in the truck a few years ago, took me like a half hour but no way would I let that go! No way. Sometimes taking drawers out helps (if there are any). Just do it yourself like I do.
I am kinda new to watching furniture flipping but have watched different videos from others. Your finished product was beautiful and had the (for me) the very big bonus of good explanations and no perky and annoying music. Thank you! I have subscribed.
I really like wood so the paint is not for me. That said, you skill is clear. No stupid music, clear narration, well explained process. Very enjoyable, thank you. Subscribed!
Nice work, looks really cool. My only small critique is that I generally don't like the paint over wood look, I think letting the natural wood grains show through looks better, so I'd prefer some type of stain rather than a paint. With paint you can't see the natural beauty of the wood, so why even have wood. For me paint makes sense only when the underlying substrate has no natural beauty.
I was ambivalent about refinishing with chalk paint my old pine TV stand which matches my other vintage furnitures, so I guess I would have to refinish it in same pine but modern mat look. Thanks.
@@FurnitureFlippa you're very welcome. I'll be hooked watching your videos. Back in the 70s through the 90s i would pick up all kinds of furniture on the side of the road. Some pieces i refinished otheres were left as is. Watching these is giving me the fever to try my hand at some of these fantastic pieces.!! Best of luck with your channel. 👍💗
Another great video. You are able to change things in the middle of your project. Check what colors are trending for the year and adjust your paint colors to stay on top.
For such a young guy, you are so patient! I really loved the look of the finished product! Obviously you painstakingly did the work until you had it perfect! I don't think I would have had the patience you have shown, lol!
Great video! A little tip for the narrow angles, save your bottle rocket wooden sticks. You can wrap the sand paper around that for those sharp corners.
Elegant and so Chic. I love it. Glad you did the drawers the same as the top it just gives it that extra something. I would definitely be glad to have it in my home in a heartbeat and I'm one hard to please fussy bunny! Fabulous..
After sanding, you can clean a few different ways. The easiest is a tack cloth. You can use mineral spirits to deep clean it too, which I used to do a lot. However, it is time-consuming and stinks out the area.
Errmmm...no. It doesn't. Looks more like it's filled with dust and old + cheap. He didn't played with colours & lights of the wood, that usually give that "expensive look". He turned it opposite - into dull looking, "dusty" and suitable more for horror movies than for a bright salon or anywhere else.
Not sure if you’ll see this but if I were to do the same thing to a wood table I have, does the process need to change or a step need to be added if it’s painted already to get ride of the paint?
Wow I'm new to your channel you do amazing work you are also teaching me things I'm trying to do my kitchen table I'm very thankful for your channel God bless and stay safe friend
Thank you so much. Started with nothing, got these bits years ago, ideas, then illness. Older, little better, ready to start. Really appreciate any advice I'm given.
Why is the stain Grey? Sorry I'm new to this part of life. Can we do the same thing that you did to the feet to the top, color them white and no stain? Do we have to use something after we color like a finish or something to make the paint durable?
I'm refinishing my Grandma's old and water damaged coffee table tomorrow and I've never actually done a refinishing project. This was extremely helpful and well put together. Thanks for making this project a lot less stressful!
It evaporates quickly, but it is very flammable. I will use krud cutter and water now to clean instead because of the fumes. Mineral spirits still works great though!
It's good to keep in mind that thick varnish can be burned off quickly and efficiently. Using a mini flame thrower you can get at the hardware store. Saves HOURS of sanding if the varnish is thick.
I do this but im too poor to really afford powertools so i have to use good old fashioned hand tools For now hand tools will do but hopefully someone hires me People in the uk are just not bothered about hiring disabled people You did a good job
Thank you for a simple straight forward video. It gets old watching people telling their life story with bad intros and distracting background music while with their voices trying to teach lol.
When doing a project like that, especially where the drawer fronts are a bit sketchy, it's a good idea to bleach the wood, and then hit it with a bit of conditioner prior to staining. The result will be a more uniform, and much less blotchy finish.
@@free67 You can use Oxalic Acid. But I've also had luck with TSP; and in some cases lacquer thinner will remove stains of they're caused by paint or staining pigments.
Great job! I enjoy your videos.😊Watching older pieces have new life is great. You might consider painting some of the tops of the tables you are painting rather than staining all of them. It looks really nice and updated.
THANK YOU for not adding music. Also, great video! Love how it turned out!
thanks for watching :)

Thanks dude! Cheap paint and stain gave it another life for sure, plus I made a decent profit for a coffee table!
Does it bother anyone else that the drawers werent functional?
hahah weird concept, right?
Yep. It’s really irritating me. Without seeing the underside, I’m guessing there would have been plenty of room underneath
Yes, I agree.
It's a regular type of "classic look furniture" from the middle of 20-40s.
yah, weird...I think I would've filled the knob/handle holes left them off.
A strong lesson in planning out your project before starting on it

I agree. If it's fake wood then I'd paint it, or if it's so beat up that you have to put a lot of filler on it.

What do you use to clean the sanding dust? vacuum, then Denatured alcohol spray and wipe off with cotton rag?

If you get a piece with a water damaged bubble, can you just sand it off and finish the project like normal?

You can buy a spray primer that is shellac based so you won't have bleed through after you have sanded and then painted.

Is mineral spirit white spirit?
Love the smell, but it is hoghly inflamable.
I also use it, but wonder if it makes the furniture extra fire prone.
