Although actually a lot of times rapists ARENT convicted sometimes seemingly bc judges call for unity! Im no legal history expert but just as an example there's been numerous cases in this country where a young girl gets raped and rather than her parents having to face the 'embarrasment' of admitting their child got raped, or the 'embarrasment' of her getting an abortion, they actually marry her off to her rapist! Theres also examples of rapists receiving custody rights to the children they conceived, if thats not judges calling for unity between rapists and victims idk what is

Trump pulled a half ass deep state. Usually it works from economic/business/white collar crime connections but he made a pseudo one from his own cult of personality and had SOME folks on the inside playing interferance.
A part of the legacy of the Trumptards will be:
      1. discrediting of populism,
      2. discrediting of legitmate concerns of human and child trafficking,
      3. discrediting of legitmate concerns of dishonesty and spin in news,
      4. discrediting of mature research of shady political dealings and real "conspiracy".
By using conflation, disregard for differentiation, hyperbole, conjecture and staunch hyper partisan conspiracy mixed with aspects of, or more like the facade of, real material socio-political issues, a mass of political followers get worked up as an energetic social force to promote the discrediting through their own absurdity.
Their orientation is faux populism by hyper partisanship that ignores socio-economic class hierarchies in favor of framing "elites" as anyone against them, especially the opposing political party and broad brush painting them as "communist". The left can have a tendency to do the same with painting everyone as "Nazi", although this is sometimes reasonable and increasingly confusing because the Trump movement has literally had a shocking amount of literal and blatantly open Nazi and White Supremacists actively involved again and again such as 'Identy Evropa', 'Traditionalist Workers Party', 'League of the South' etc, who they were fine rubbing shoulders with. However you wont see most the left painting Ron Paul, John Mccain etc as literal fascists.
When I first got interested in politics as a teen in the late 90s I was an evangelical conservative and noticed such conspiritard tactics were used by the American right wing then. One example from the 90s was the well known "Clinton Body Count list" which, although having some legitimate connections to Clinton and interesting and suspicious cases (Clinton probably wacked some liabilities), conflates other obviously unrelated cases such as Danny Casolaros murder, and uses it as a cheap and outlandish partisan hit piece to be deployed by the gullible.
It is frustrating since not only does it help discredit some legitmate concern and investigation, it also serves to dumb down people overall and corrode logical thinking by using fallacy as a weapon, but than again, its not only the right that does that...maybe we should elect David Icke next time 😄
I think the raid of the capital building was literally an attempted Coup D'etat of sorts. Why THAT DAY and THAT TIME right when they certifying the electoral ballots?
But...since it was such an utter failure on their side (but its not over yet), and with all the dog whistling, I don't know if they can LEGALLY be tried with sedition...maybe
The issues with the police not being called out and the Nat Guard being delayed makes me think Trump had folks on the inside that were playing interferance, but you have to be able to prove it, so maybe the long game is the best way if it is still going to be a thing after he leaves office so you can pull them out and convict. Its all a game of 'wack a mole'. There are still folks waiting in the wings.
15,000 National Guard are gonna be at capitol hill on inauguration day, thats the same amount of Nat Guard as at the LA Riots and armed protest have been called for all 50 capitols in the US and DC....so....it aint over yet.

He has good reasons for thinking it's the wrong thing to do. As he says, Trump would grab the limelight even more, he'd make a spectacle out of it, and he would continue to energize his base. They won't be able to put a former president in jail. It's very, very, unlikely to happen. It's never happened before. He would use the press and trials to revitalize his base. He'd continue to be in the news, especially through his followers at Fox News. He's going to go to trial anyway for crimes committed in New York.
Comey does say that it's a difficult call, meaning that there's good reasons to pursue it. So maybe the benefits outweigh the costs. Trump could lose his post-presidential benefits and get banned from running for federal office ever again. He'd lose his $200,000/year pension, $1 million a year travel fund, and taxpayer subsidies to pay for office space and staff. Maybe that's not really a concern for him, given his billions. And he'd still keep secret service protection for life. (source: www.khou.com/article/news/nation-world/what-happens-if-trump-is-impeached/77-5e6300cb-5109-41f9-921f-9231da687053)

There's another reason why Trump and his croonies should be prosecuted and punished.
Many people voted against Trump not for Biden.
The Biden administration can be just another democrat administration and the next time people will vote Republicans again if they don't see somethin' new and refreshing.
The Biden administration should show some muscle, they should encourage the Justice department to relentlessly and mercilessly pursue, strike and punish, the traitors to show that in this country there is still justice and accountability.
Remember that the sleep of reason generates monsters and Trump wasn't only created by Republicans but also by the Democrats vacuum so the Biden administration should be the change that everyone wants, not only on this subject, especially now that the Senate is exorcised.
Otherwise people will be angered, disillusioned and bittered and they will vote for the next liar on an elephant that will enter the city and we will have another 4/8 years of crimes.
Can U.S.A. afford another 4/8 of wrongdoings or they should punish Trump to scare all the monster wannabes?
      The only answer is punishment.

Just a publicity stunt, all because of his book. NOT for a moment would I trust Comey for his views. He's a self-aggrandizing phoney man.
For the past 4 years, whenever I saw this man, I mused for what reason he gave us trump in the first place? His letter on opening the bogus inquiry into Hillary's emails, while the people were already voting, put the conman into the WH. Doesn't matter he sent the second letter with a complete & stark rebuttal of all the hypothesis just two or three weeks after the first, he single-handedly derailed her campaign by the critical thousands of votes in the key swing states, and no doubt hundreds of thousands of votes nationally. (And I suppose I underestimate by a lot! )
He was more instrumental in his election than even Steve Bannon. If he had an ounce of decency, he'd stop pretending.
At the very least, he put his interests above those of the country : he was looking for a way out of the job (and towards his quiet and happy novel writing retirement) with a bang.
At worst, he conspired to get trump elected or did it by infatuation with the influence he yielded... to trump "he's a fine man"... to me he's a failure: as a director of the FBI, he should have known better.

I do think he has a point in saying they should focus pursuing him on all the criminal activities Trump committed prior to holding the office. It's.... very hard to convict an ex-president for acts they did while in the Oval office. That system SHOULD absolutely be changed so we can pursue the President without allowing him to be above the law, but it would be hard to apply that retrospectively after a reform.

Well, Trump's never gonna pay. Hasn't paid his whole damn life, only gotten more of the world served to him on a silver platter. The law doesn't work against rich people, it works for them. So Trump's gonna skate like always. He could die of natural causes, no foul play at all, and his cult will say Soros, radical left, BLM and antifa killed him. This country is done if Biden takes the "high road" that was taken in 1865 with all that amnesty B.S.
But what can actually be done that is a net positive? I dunno....we'll see I guess. I'm just sick of being reminded of my "place" in this life and I have to have my nose rubbed in the "laws" that folks like Trump and even his own supporters don't have to follow, ALL THE WHILE CALLING THEMSELVES "LAW ABIDING CITIZENS." Let’s face it he is running off to Florida of all places and New York has made it clear he isn’t welcome, his internet media accounts have been frozen, his financial backers are running for hills because he is toxic, his notions of a Trump media channel have been shelved for foreseeable future and 4 years is a long time in politics. Can you imagine anyone wanting the president who presided over this pandemic back after they’ve had time to think clearly for a couple of years wanting him back for a second office. My guess is he is on his way out and he won’t be back. But it’s up to people like yourself to make certain that people like him don’t get voted in.

I don't think they were ordered to, I think it was just negligence combined with individual Trump supporters within the police unit who acted on their own accord not because they were told to. Law enforcement has a track record of being much more lenient and laid back with right-leaning groups versus leftist groups. Not only because of political bias but they're generally seen as more peaceful (which is almost definitely because treating people well and treating people bad is a cycle so by repeatedly being nice to right-leaning people they're less violent and by repeatedly being aggressive towards left groups they're more violent) so the police acted out of ignorance and negligence by thinking the protesters would not be violent or do anything wrong just because they were right-leaning. So the security and planning ahead of time for the event was extremely lack luster which is why we saw what we did that day.

The punishment is almost never the death penalty, it seems it's happened only once in US history when a guy tear down a US flag during the civil war (this happened also under martial law) which ironically now destroying a US flag is considered a protected form of speech under the first amendment.
More than treason/sedition (up to 20 years of prison time), I think they're more likely to be more severely punished by the death of the police officer which could be charged as first degree murder (you can get life for that kind of crime).

"What do u have to lose" asked Trump. I thought back then: A LOT, coz I never understood, what ppl saw in him. All, I saw, was a lying, vulgar con man grifter, who was both too lazy, too ignorant and too stupid to even make it a halfway convincing grift. I never for a second thought, Americans would be dumb enough, gullible enough to fall for his obvious bs, and I knew back then, that if u guys actually did elect him, having ur country run down in the dumps like 1 of his "businesses" would be the least of ur problems.
But I never once imagined, that u - and the rest of us, who didnt get a vote - had SO much to lose. It is truly horrifying, made even worse by the fact, that after the horror show of the last 4 years 74 million Americans went out and voted to continue the destruction.
I never like Hillary Clinton, but I wouldve voted for her without hesitation in 2016, had I been an American, coz whatever else u might think of her, she is competent, knowledgable and actually wanted to do, what was best for the country, whether u agreed with her, what that was or how to do it, or not. While Trump was always clearly a trainwreck in progress, only out for himself, the stupidest, most incompetent, most unqualified person imaginable, who would be an absolute disaster. And he was. For 3 years he was an absolute disaster, and u guys only survived it, coz times were peaceful, and he took over a fairly healthy economy, and even tho he did his best, even Trump couldnt completely smash the economy of the entire country in 3 years. But the economy was already going down the drain, the country was on fire, and he kept pouring on the gasoline. And then the pandemic hit, and everything got a million times worse. And 74 million Americans voted to continue that.
"What do u have to lose". Everything. And the worst, most horrifying part is, that close to half ur country doesnt even realise it.
I blame Comey for that very ill advised press conference on the e-mails. But most of all I blame the American voters. American voters brought this on themselves, on their country, on their fellow Americans, and on the rest of us to some degree as well. And the answer of 74 million of them was to try to inflict even more of it on us all. That is something, that I and many, I know, can never forgive. Another Trump term would not just have destroyed the US, the rest of us wouldve been harshly hit as well. And its not over yet. U guys need to clean house, u need to face up to ur problems, admit ur problems. No more of this "best country in the world" bullshit. If u cant admit to ur faults and ur problems, u cant fix them. And u have HUGE problems, and if u dont fix them now, its probably too late.
