Have this rig. It's honestly a gem and definitely has a tight turning radius. It's fun to run though, hardly see anyone with one. Probably due to the fact that hop up visual accessories aren't as readily available as, say, the Globeliner, Grand Hauler, or even some of the other Euro trucks. Beauty of paint job tho, Bob.

A great kit with a vintage look. I have the Scania R470 using the exact same parts except for body. It has clear windows for those who want to have fun with interior. Nice tips for turn angle. Another technique I used was making a 3D printed plate and mount steering and shifting servo together on the front, an have a direct link to the steering arm. You have to reverse the steering arms left and right but it does not bump into the suspension arm anymore.

Bob you do a great job on these trucks. I think Tamiya should give you a promotion cheque of some sort.
Can I have a picky? The pipework on the back of the cab you mention as exhaust, is realy the air intake.
Thanks Bob for showing your truck build with a great paint job.

I agree, I love this truck, and I'm not a euro truck guy. Too bad the windows are so dark. Would really be cool with your famous dash and interior lighting. Great build Bob!

Yes they are really dark. Would be nice if you could at least see through them a bit!

You know what, Bob? Thank you for this video, a few other videos, and specifically the last video about your dedicated soldering station.
My dad tried to teach me how to solder wires when I was about five. I didn't learn much but I got to visit the emergency room.
Unfortunately he never tried to teach me that again, and then dementia took his skills, and now he's gone.
But your videos helped me get my confidence up enough to get a proper soldering station and practice. Now I'm confident enough to solder the bigger ECU and battery wires, and the little fine lighting wires.
So... Yeah. Thanks for filling in for him.

I have seen these fully built and painted with Tamiya sound kit and radio in a hobby shop. Looks like they come like that rather than a kit?? £1250

do you know what size wrench the nuts need?i am an old mechanic and i bet i have the right socket for them in my toolbox.

    • @NutjobGTO
      @NutjobGTO 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

The nuts are 5.5mm and 7mm, but there's also a bunch of little nuts down at around 3mm as well.
Also the +slot screws are JIS screws, not American Phillips heads, so they'll tend to fight and ream out if you use a Phillips driver and hamfist it.
Then the 1.5, 2, and 2.5mm hex drivers.
The Tamiya RC toolkit with everything you need is about 44 bucks Canuckian dollars, and who can resist buying new tools? Plus when you're dropping enough for a Tamiya truck, trailer, radio, ESC, new motor, proper paints, Beier system, buckets of LEDs and on and on, new tools is only a tiny bit of your total outlay.
As always, the hardest nuts to keep under control are us, the ones turning the wrenches.

I'd really love to see Tamiya do a faux air ride.
...or a legit one, if they could possibly pull it off
