I'm so excited to see this build. I always smile when I get a notification for one of your build videos. You deserve the 5 million views. Let's see if we can't get you to 10 million in the next year!
And Winston approved 😊. Looks good, and your adapting the servo for the lift axle was ingenious. This is why I watch your videos, you have some of the best ideas. Thank you for sharing.
Great video love the lift axle nice colour scheme your dog 🐕 is brilliant my dog barks at my trucks has well keep up the good work Well done on the 5 million veiwer
Whoa. Love this build! And this kit is gorgeous! Love the tips and stuff and thanks for showing how you did the servo controlled coupler and lift axle! Been debating if I should build a Tamiya semi but wasn’t sure of what I’d be getting into and found this on TH-cam when I searched for Tamiya semi truck builds. Now I want one!! Liked and subscribed!!! Aloha from Hawaii my dude!
I love these builds they really have helped me I'm just now getting into this side of the rc hobby and I love the scale please if you can next build I would love to see what you do with the cheapest truck the Volvo single axle just do something great with it and thank you for all you do
I come from the crawler world and I would highly recommend using the EcoPower WP120T for your steering servo. You mentioned you were worried about torque. That servo is very good at a wide variety of voltages
Excellent... next tool in your shop should be a 3D printer. You could add those parts to your store. I was never really interested in 3D printers but recently bought one. I had a need for a custom body mount, I designed and printed the body mounts for an RC4WD hard body. It was very satisfying when it worked as desired. All software needed is free. Congrats on 5M views.
While it would have required some 3D Printed Parts ( or your choice of manufacturing ) the Original Lifting Mechanism could have remained in use via another strong 180° Servo ( pretty sure that 270° motion you mentioned was in fact a 360° one ) and a 2-to-1 Wire Pulley System. With it being a wire-based one the placement / orientation of the Servo could also have been highly flexible.
Very nice but its odd that the lift axle steers when lifted... A separate steering servo for this axle would be good, which could then be activated when the wheel is down and deactivated when up.
As there is already an opening in left fender the front servo could be moved to the other side. Or maybe there is enough space for two servos side by side. Front servo shaft a bit to front, rear servo shaft a bit to rear and horns directed inwards. Ball connectors would be more less in desired place - near the edge between two servos.
You could also figure out a way to tune caster into that steer axle somehow, that way it naturally steers when it is down and doesn't steer when it is up. That's how the real steerable lift axle works.
Congratulations on the views letter, one thing I would ask you to do is start to save the shows into playlists, it's a lot easier to find and watch through full builds one after another, it would be easier for you too as you could refer to a particular playlist for say the chassis build for a particular model number. It's just like having an index in an instruction booklet. I love the builds and I hope you keep growing the channel, all the best from Scotland.
Thanks Bob for showing your idea for the lift Axel. I actually have a couple to build and I think I will try your cheeky little get around for the lift ! Keep up the good work, your videos are always good and very informative. We have some great lighting kits for the cab small roof lights and the tiny side bars here in the UK, not sure if you have them stateside ?
Hi Bob, Thanks for the email, but I bought the same transmitter that you used in your video, the FS-ST8. Is it not possible with this transmitter to connect 2 receivers to the transmitter? I like to hear from you regards Hans
@@HobbyconceptsLLC I totally agree bob I do love that breed dog and I watch and love your videos here in the UK and your 1/14 trucks are just amazing I can't wait to see your scania 770 8x4/4 complete
When is part 2 coming ? Been waiting for a month :D . Hope you're ok and nothing personal happened that would be the reason of the delay. Love your channel and grats on the 5 mil
I am fine :-) Had to build a few other trucks in between but part 2 should be up in a few days. The truck is awesome by the way. Coolest Tamiya kit I have built.....
I'm building the truck myself and I'm trying to do the same servo lifting.. one thing I can't see is how you install the servo. is it glued to the frame ? or did you use a screw to hold it ? I love these videos you make, it's a great inspiration on how to do it myself. Found the Beier videos most helpful when I was installing an SFR-1-D in my lesu PC360 digger ;)
Hi hobbyconcepts ive got the new volvo fh16 globetrotter log truck radio controlled with all the lights and sound which i bought from a private seller don't think i could build them anymore
It's a cold ,miserable late Autumn morning in Tasmania , Australia and this is awesome and I am so enjoying this video ...I will never probably be skilful enough to do a fantastic build like this but love watching a master at work ..I am a huge fan and pretty good with model rail in HO scale but have become interested in R/C earthmoving .. I have begun with Huina including a 1593 excavator , a very recent 1594 excavator , two Huina 1573 dump trucks and a 1569 bulldozer ..also a second hand 1592 excavator with an unassembled upgraded kit to replace the factory plastic boom , arm and bucket plastic gears that are weak . Also has the kit to replace the slew gear with an infinite rotation one ....One day perhaps if the hobby really gets me I'll go much more substantial models ...I have probably got $25,000 invested in my room sized BNSF /ATSF railway with DCC control but R/C is also amazing .. P..S I watched your vid on the bulldozer and agree 100% with your assessment but since then I've added about 50% weight to it..built up the blade to allow more depth of cut and used some old Code 100 HO track I had to make grousers for the dozer tracks and glued them onto the factory rubber tracks with shoe repair glue..Adds heaps more grab for traction and looks okay too..some mod with old windscreen wiper rubber ..Modding is fun too .. Loving greatly your fantastic channel and no wonder you have five million subscribers ..I'm now one of them ...Cheers...
As expensive as it is you think it would be equipped with a servo for the lift axle and not to be done by hand. Thats like having a remote control truck but pushing it around the floor lol
well the lift is quiet easy tae achive take a servo apart, remove the turn Limiter, take 2 gears that fit the top of the servo and the lift shaft, mount them next tae each other job done, the servo isnea limited and can spin like a motor now. but who the fook designed the steerin on the truck and who was responsible fae the wrong mounting of the main steer axle? That will make no turn since the Geometric is on the wrong side but at least the trailing one is right. Fae yer info: on a twin steer the First (main axle) has and needs all the Angle while the trailing is behind in the angle otherwise they couldnae turn, because the 2nd axle would push the 1st aff Track causing a lot of issues with stability and runing in curves. advise fae controll get a Kraftwerk RS-1it's like a beier and they make really nice upgrade lights or get Lesu light platines that combine all the single lights intae one fae the chicken lights.
Watching from the UK. By far the beat RC truck channel on TH-cam. Keep up the good work.

Hi, the video was very instructive, thanks Bob. Greetings from Turkey.👍👏
Hi recently bought 770s 6x4 and that has a lot of ball bearings in the kit so I did the same and put them internally great to watch you see you soon 👍
Bob. You are the Difinative source for video and information on the Beier products. Even better than the factory videos!
Nice vidéo. Many thanks from France!

Excellent conversion on the lift axle , will be be modifying mine too. Thanks again for an excellent video Bob 👍

Hoping to buy this scania soon, good video and well demonstrated. From UK. 😊
Wohoooooooooooo well done on the 5 million views. Nice looking build so far.
Winston had some interesting views on the truck.
If you bend the steering rod at the rod ends by 15 degrees it pulls the rod away from the shock supports and gives full steering

That is a good thought, probably would not be hard to do.
Its normal that the lifted axle still steer when its up and i know this because i have driven trucks that way
You could also figure out a way to tune caster into that steer axle somehow, that way it naturally steers when it is down and doesn't steer when it is up. That's how the real steerable lift axle works.
@The Loco Builder the midlift axle always steers weather it is lifted or not on the actual truck in real life.
At 42.35 minutes in the video I like that plus I have 3 dogs that’s do it and yeah they think the same too

Not sure what's better the truck or the King Charles cavalier spaniel love both and the blue WOW

A euro truck would have stop and tail/running light dim then bright and the inner most red lights would be fog lights.
I have a question about painting a truck.
can i just spray the truck with primer and then with ts paint and just leave it that way?
Where can I buy this product? I’m from in Việt Nam. I love it and am pasionate about it.

I made a 1/4" platform for the servo to sit on. It then tucks tightly under the frame. I just glued it to the platform.

Hi Bob, have you seen the OB1 system for the mfc? Seems like it offers wireless trailer lights as well. Would like to get your thoughts on it.
I have one here. Will do a video on it one of these days.
Hi Fella! Nice videos. Do you sell kits to Norway? Regards Richard

Does the lift axle steer while lifted. You kinda left that out. Would be good to figure that out.
Yes, it steers all the time.
Hi Bob,
Is it true that you cannot get 2 receivers on 1 transmitter?
Hans from the Netherlands
If you use the Flysky FS-i6 radio and the iA6 receivers it will work.
Hi Bob can you recommend a starter kit as I,m new to build kits

I really want one just for the building proces. But I know I will dump way too much cash in it as I do with all my RC's.

Tamiya kits are just the truck kit. You need radio, servos, speed control, battery and charger.
Thank you

I think you need to change the lighting on the shop. It's not bright enough
A lot of parts in 'simple' pintle hook. Can it be motorized? For me it looks like Bob needs another micro servo...
If I was going to servo operate it I would switch to an aftermarket aluminum one.
Will you be selling these parts to convert for those of us who aren't technically minded
