  • Our product deep-dive continues! Another one of our most commonly asked questions when it comes to slicker brushes is whether you should use a long-pinned slicker brush, like the Big G or the Big K with 27mm pins, on your dog. Allison breaks down whether she would use a long-pinned slicker brush for each coat type in this tutorial.
Did Allison recommend that you don’t use this type of slicker? Stay tuned for our tutorial on short-pinned slickers in two weeks time!

Thank you for this! I have an American Eskimo and he’s very bothered by the long pin brushes, but a regular slicker doesn’t reach his undercoat. I just ordered a Karben which sounds like it will be just the thing for him!

What would you recommend for Borzoi? I know they are considered double coated but in my experience their fur is no where as thick as say a Great Pyrenees or similar, it’s more silky and thinner in comparison. They are also very sensitive dogs so when I’ve used slicker brushes before it seems to cause them discomfort. However when I just use other brushes they do not collect the loose fur efficiently, any tips? I am newer to dog showing, thanks for your videos!
