- Disclaimer- This is how I repaired my sump leaking sump gasket, it was quite a fiddly job at times due to limited access. This is the way I did it, it may not be the correct process. HOWEVER! 3:36 does that mean if someone was being.... less thorough, they could just drop the sump, scrape the old gasket off - and do a dodgy repair without bothering to clean the rest of it? No removal of the pick up required?
...not that I'd ever do such a thing, I'm asking for a mate :P

Do you mean, cleaning up & applying the new gasket silicone with the sump resting about 10cm below the block, not fully removed?
I suppose so, my concern with that is any old gasket that falls into the sump can’t be cleared out properly and could block something up.
I’ve since watched/read other ways to fully remove the sump, including disconnecting an engine mount, raising the motor, and placing blocks under the mounts to hold it higher & provide enough room to remove the sump. Whilst a little more fiddly, I still think removing the pickup is probably the easier/quicker option in my unprofessional opinion.

Hello! I haven’t had to fix my Speedo, so I don’t have a video for that yet! I’m going to make a clutch master cylinder replacement video, and that starts with removing the dash cluster. I’m assuming what you need is in the dash?
Is it possible to remove the oil pan without removing the oil pickup tube?
I’ve read about people lifting the engine up a bit, and placing blocks of wood to hold it up. I imagine an engine mount (or multiple) would need to be undone to allow enough movement, but I could be wrong. With out lifting the engine up, or removing the oil pickup, there is not enough room to remove the sump entirely.
