    Charlie, I don't know why, but the YT algorithm decided that I needed to see this video, and because of that, I've found out about Dirty Loops. I love your reaction to this track and how real it is. The emotional connection that this song can pull out of the people is truly the show of great musicianship. Thanks for being real with your reactions.

    Charlie, you managed to articulate how I’ve been feeling about them for the past year. You are spot TF on when you say that they are able to bring so much light into such dark spaces in our lives. I know that, for me, it’s been pretty damn hard around these parts - mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. And they help me forget about all of it when I listen to them. That is why I’m so obsessed. They bring me joy. And that’s just it. I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I’m only speaking for me and what I’ve dealt with. It’s all about the joy.

    This is an utterly phenomenal song and you just gave an utterly phenomenal reaction. Don't doubt yourself. Whatever you might have missed technically-your words not mine-you more than made up for with your beautiful emotional and philosophical take on this uplifting music. You gave a wonderfully genuine reaction on the wonder of what people can do. It is a blessing to hear the unharnessed joy of a song like this. In a world that can be so dark and grim music like this does allow us to imagine something better. Thanks so much. At some point should you be ready for something else uplifting-if you're not already familiar-Jacob Collier's rendition of Lionel Richie's "All Night Long." Another track that I feel very lucky to be around to experience.

      My man, your comment is on point! I don't have any technical knowledge of music but I feel like I still kinda have a musicians ear. I can't explain it properly, it's just that I might not be able to explain *why* exactly something sounds good but I know musical greatness when I hear it, you know those little moments that most people miss but musicians go crazy over. This song is incredibly good. From the bass to the drums, the vocals and brass section, the melodies and harmonies... phenomal is the right word!

    It never occurred to me that they trimmed the brass hits for effect, but now that you mentioned it, it's obvious. It adds to how ridiculously tight they sound. Nice catch.

    • @mikecoughlin4128
      @mikecoughlin4128 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m certainly no master mixer or editor but I’ve watched several tutorials on how to use mixing software and some people do like to come into the mix and “clean up” in between sections to make it more crisp. I think that’s what you and others have heard hear. The left side of the screen was recorded in USA and the DL right side at their location then mixed. Pretty well done video I think.

    • @hackapump
      @hackapump ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikecoughlin4128 Cleaning up before mixing is just essential housekeeping: Everything not needed must be removed to make room for what is - the available space is finite, and there is a hard ceiling limiting how much energy you can pack into a mix, which is what makes mixing such a delicate art. But what is unusual here is it sounds like they’ve trimmed the natural decay of humans blowing their horns, so the brass hits have as sharp ends as they have attacks. Meaning it’s more of a production trick than a mixing decision. I’m sure someone else has done it before in this digital era, it’s just the first time I’ve heard it, or at least noticed it. Anyhow, it’s a killer track. And yeah, the video is a clever solution to the geographical dilemma.

    About Henriks bass sound i heave heard that he sometimes on the final versions double the bass with a synth bass so it is not always only the bass guitar that you hear. It is hard to make out if that is the case in this song or not but it makes the bass sound, well a bit more than if it was only the bass guitar :)

If you want to see Aron and Henrik having some fun (without Jonah), you could check out their stuff from Songs for lovers (how did they come up with that name?), like Old Armando had a farm (Armando is a person In the team around them), or Pink power, or let Jonah join in, in Coffee break is over (no singing, just playing a keyboard wobbling on a drum). If you're up for it sometime, check out some of Grace Kelly's studio stuff... she's the sax player in the 'Loops vids and has a bunch of her own videos on her channel. Little more on the jazz side, but wow... some great live-studio vids, among other things!
