Chevrolet introduced a new 'Advanced Design' line of trucks in the summer of 1947. These 1948 Chevrolets represented an all new look for Chevy light duty trucks that continued, relatively unchanged, through the 1954 models. 1948 Chevrolet 3100
The 1948 Chevrolet Trucks again featured the Unisteel cab styling. Besides the optional chrome grille bars, not much else had changed from the previous year. The grill featured five horizontal bars topped by a hood ornament with a blue bow tie and Chevrolet lettering. The windshield was larger and came in two-pieces with a black rubber seal and stainless steel divider bar which helped improve vision on the inside. The interior still had wide seats and an instrument panel with electric type fuel and battery charge indicators , pressure-type heat indicator and an oil pressure gauge. The ¾ ton trucks, as well as the 1 ton trucks, received the same new styling but had a longer wheelbase and bed. Also available for the year was the 3700 Series (3/4 ton) and 3900 Series (1 ton) Dubl-Duti Forward Control Chassis Truck. This allowed the buyer to add their own truck body. Options included rearview mirrors, oil bath air cleaner, heavy-duty clutch, wide running boards, heavy-duty clutch, chrome grille equipment, Tru-Stop brake equipment, inside fuel tank, deluxe cab equipment and various tire options. Dealer options included (but not limited to), radiator cover, windshield defroster rubber blade fan and bracket, tissue dispenser, guide spotlamp and bracket, cigarette lighter, tire traction mat, hood ornament, Delco receiving radio set plus antenna, electric shaver and left-hand or right-hand maroon door armrest. For the 1947 to 1954 models, stylists conceived the five-window cab, formally known as the Deluxe Cab, to eliminate the blind spots in the rear quarter panels of the cab. The Serial ID Number for the US-built Chevrolet trucks for 1947 - 1955 is 8 to 12 digits long and is recorded in two sections. For 1947 - 52, the first four-six letters/numbers will reveal the 1- Assembly plant, 2 - the year of production, 3 - the series model, and 4 - the month of production. What does the 3100 mean on a Chevy truck?
Late 1949 - Hood side emblems no longer read "Thriftmaster" or "Loadmaster", but are now numbers that designate cargo capacity: 3100 on 1⁄2 ton, 3600 on 3⁄4 ton, 3800 on 1 ton. Serial number codes remain the same as on early 1949.
This truck is one of the best builds I have ever seen. All of the panel gaps look perfect, perfect paint, perfect interior, perfect engine bay, and the doors even shut perfect. AMAZING!!!

Really really nicely done. I hope the buyer uses it often, has a ball, and takes good care of it. I'm always hoping to see a "done up" six in these vintage vehicles that originally had them. Nothing wrong with the V8, and I'm not a "That's not correct." guy, but the switch to V8 (I did it myself, in 1970 or so) is so common that it's just getting boring.

I had a 49 GMC got it when I was 14 for 74 dollars at a car auction I drove it home 60 miles with only 1st and 3rd gear, no reverse or 2nd gear. the battery I later discovered was hanging by the electric leads. I had to wire the front bumper with a piece of wire to keep it dragging the road. It had a flat heat 6 banger and an oil sump breather / air filter.
